The view of the campus is really nice as you get up to the 4th floor. I would say the higher you go, the qieter it gets. 2nd floor is all noisy! Well, not noisy, just noisy for a library, with people texting, on their phones (if you can get service), dancing, etc. The 3rd floor is quiet with a bit of noise. And of course the 4th floor is the Quiet Zone. I went up there and stayed until about 11:30 to study and it was great. I did great on my 1st Bio midterm, so 4th floor is the place to be when you need to study. Also, the library has 300 laptops available for checkout, which is great because sometimes I don't feel like going back to my dorm room, and I don't have a laptop. And the Lantern Cafe downstairs sells really yummy food like Mediterranean Pasta Salad. Also, they are the only place on campus that sells my favorite: Pomagranate Cherry Sobe LIfe Water! Too bad it closes at 5:30pm, even though the library closes at Midnight. ANDDD whatever you buy from there, you can eat in the library! :) The only downside to the library is that it closes at 6pm on Fridays. BOOO HISS!!! Other than that one thing, the library rocks!

For a library that's only 5 years old, UC Merced's is does a really good job at getting the…read moreresources that you need. Their ILL (Inter-Library Loan) system is phenomenal. You can pretty much have your hands on any book from any UC library in a matter of days and can keep it for a year or so. Their laptop loaning program is used extensively. Their collection of printed Journals and books on hand isn't huge, but you can't hold that against them in lieu of massive budget cuts and how new the school is. They've got at least 1 cool aquarium set up on each floor (awesome!) and some neat museum-ish displays every now and then. My only complaint is the lack of La-Z-Boys. Must have the La-Z-Boys in a school library, or at least couches!

The library opens Mon-Friday from 1-6 PM, and from 10-3 on Sat. Closed on Sunday. Check their website in case hours may have changed http://www.mariposalibrary.org/branches.html The staff was very friendly, there are also LOTS of books for sale for .50 and 1 dollar, so stock up while you are here, especially because there is no cell signal anywhere in the Wawona area of the park (unless you are a Verizon customer-we were told, but cannot verify this because we had NO signal at all in the Wawona area and we have ATT and Cricket Wireless. Reading a good book by relaxing in your campsite is a great experience. The library has very good air conditioning, which provided a great respite from the 90+ F heat of the summer, it was a great place to cool off. There are computers for free use and also free wifi. If you are outside of business hours, it is possible to stand outside of the library and still access the free wifi. It may take a few minutes to load, so be patient. You may need to turn on and off your wifi in your phone to reset it so it can detect the network.

The selection itself is huge. it's a two story bookstore. The individul sections or genres seem well stocked. Although the Horror section from what I saw was severely lacking most likely due to it perhaps being the biggest selling genre for them? The books themselves are in varying condition from Like New to Fair. I personally found some incredibly good looking books. Their prices are a big selling point for me, very fair and they run a 25% off mass market paperbacks. With all the positives, there's one negative I want to address and thats their trade in credit system. To be honest, It's pretty shady. They give you a great price on your trade-ins if they're good books, in good condition. However, theres one big catch: You can't use that credit outright to simply pay for a book or two. They hold your credit hostage (for the books you gave them that they are going to resell and make a profit on) and you must either (A.) Spend the exact amount in cash that you have credit for in order to use that full line of credit, or you can (B.) spend under that amount and only be allowed to use half of your existing credit. You see, that way they have you on the hook. They got your books. They got your credit, and they're going to get your money too, by forcing you to pay just to gain access to your own credit. I was told by an employee "We have to do that or else we wouldn't make any money, we'd be just trading books for books." But thats not true at! They price them for a profit when they resell them. There are other ways to make the same amount of profit, perhaps more without the shady (and frankly unfair to the customer) business tactics. They could not have the 25% off mass market paperbacks discount. They could give a little less credit for trade-ins. They could raise their prices slightly. They could let their customers have full access to their credit without these special conditions that limit and punish the customer. They benefit at the customers expense in this way, and it is unethical, regardles if it is legal. The moral gray zone is real here. So, I learned my lesson and will not be doing trade-in business with them any longer. I might continue to shop there, but I'm paying cash, so long as the prices remain low. All in all, it's a good bookstore, but I dont like their business practices very much. For now, I still recommend, just don't do trade-ins.

Bathrooms are always clean and stocked with tissue and paper towels. There is a water fountain with a bottle fill spout right outside the bathroom. I dropped off my overdue book in the book slot and then we headed to the kids room so the older kiddos could do their homework. No pencils in backpacks, ugh. We borrowed mechanical pencils from the front desk and returned them when we were done. Thank you!

We are lucky we have family that live in auberry and love to come for the summer shows, this summer we got to see e and m reptile guy( who is awesome, great with the kids and so funny so enjoyable for all) and the bubble guy ( wild child adventures) . It might be a small building but it has a decent amount of stuff plus activities for all ages.

That being said, it's a pretty neat place that's fairly well stocked for being in a rural area. There's at least one book to be found here on most any subject. What really makes this library special, though, is the amount of special events it hosts for the community. Astronomy nights, love music, great teen and children programs, summer reading programs, trips around California....it's fantastic. The community gets really involved with library-related events and it's pretty great to see all these people from different walks of life come together.
