Excellent tour with Grant and worth the $! As Yosemite gets busier, this is really worth your time and $! You don't have to navigate traffic, you're driven by and given ample time off this small bus to see everything and take tons of photos, lunch and a fantastic history lesson. $220.00 per person. Pick up 7:05 am and dropped back off at 5:00 pm. Lunch is quite good. Sandwiches from Deli Delicious in Oakhurst. Lunch is taken in the middle of the park where you can sit and enjoy it, use the facilities, grab a Starbucks if needed and take a short walk over to one of the waterfalls. You're picked back up after an hour and 1/2 and this wonderful tour continues. You see loads of wildlife, more amazing waterfalls and this famous sites you've seen all over the place in pictures, movies, paintings, etc and if your lucky, so rock climbers on 1/2 Dome or El Capitan. Incredible scenery and so much to learn about this incredible place, the indigenous peoples and tribes that lived here and the incredible amount of history all in one day. Do yourself a favor and take the tour. Hopefully you'll get Grant. He's fun, is an excellent driver, has lots of bottled water and snacks, really takes care of his fares, knows an enormous amount of info from here and makes the tour really fun. What a great way to tour the park. Grant was a great driver and guide with plenty of information and insights. I had been to the park before but had just done it on my own. This was definitely the way to go. Water and snacks were provided all day. The only disappointment was the sandwich for lunch. (Very dry and tasteless). We took our tour on Memorial Day and I can't say enough about how great it was. We knew it was going to be a busy day for the park. Before the tour, their communication back and forth was amazing and fast. Our tour guide Marsh picked us up right on time and even circled back for a couple of guest who were super late. She explained everything as we went and she did say if she was driving to fast or slow to let her know. She stopped to show deers and I think coyote. She would get out and talk about what we would expect to find on each putting off the bus and lunch was great, with plenty of snacks and water in between. She answered about a thousand questions my husband had. She walked couple trails with us and remembered to point out things I had asked about earlier. I would take another tour with her again in a heart beat. She gave us tips and secret spots to go to and outside the park also for lunch and dinner. There were plenty of bathroom breaks too. This was one of the scariest bus rides I have ever been on. Our tour guide Marsha drove so fast knowing many on the bus were scared. We asked her to slow down... which she initially did. We took this expensive tour while we were staying at the Tenaya Lodge near Yosemite. We have visited Yosemite in the past but this time we wanted to share it with our granddaughter. Marsha was our tour guide and we were not happy with her. She clearly knows and loves the park and the surrounding areas. However, she also clearly hates President Obama and made that clear during the tour - it was extraordinarily offensive and inappropriate. I don't care a whit about her politics but I'm not interested in hearing about them one way or the other. Additionally, she took one or both hands off the wheel many times and frankly scared the living daylights out of several of the passengers, me included. There are some very treacherous roads in Yosemite and it is a time for total concentration on the part of the driver. She was easily distracted and that is not ok. All in all, I would not recommend this tour unless you could be assured you would get a driver other than Marsha. read more

He was so in tuned to the weather problems we might have encountered that he changed his normal route to accommodate what he anticipated might happen if we stopped here first or went there last etc. He was correct in his re-routing and even though we had rain and fog, we didn't miss anything because of his quick thinking. He gave us all plenty of restrooms stops, opportunities to get out and walk. Supplied us with extra rain ponchos and jackets. Had plenty of water and great lunches. Glenn Bennik was our guide and he was so wonderful. He went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was comfortable and happy and he was so kind to all of the attendees on our bus. He even offered his own jacket to a lady on the bus that was chilly. He was so knowledgable about everything on the tour all of the history and all of the flora and fauna on the tour. It was a crowded day at the park but he made sure to get us to all of the destinations and did great job with it. The tour was worth it 100% because of Glenn! We were told to take a tour of Yosemite before we struck out on our own (especially because we were only going to be there for three days). Luckily, we booked one with Discover Yosemite (because it was the only one listed in our Lonely Planet guidebook). Marsha was our guide and she was great. I could have listened to her all day. She not only maneuvered us to places where we could never have found parking, but she was so informative and entertaining. Marsha was passionate about the park, often referring to it as "ours" like she worked for the park service proper. After I got home, I reread part of our guide books and Marsha was spot on about every historical fact. The bus is not a full sized tour bus but more like a limo-bus. Our pre-ordered and prepaid lunch at the Majestic Yosemite Dining Room was well worth it just for the ambiance and being able to wander the grounds of the lodge. At Glacier Point, she made sure to tell us to to stop and smell the Jeffrey Pine. (Smells like butterscotch.) Since Mariposa Grove was closed for renovation, she also told us to seek out Nelder Grove which became the highlight of our trip. My advise is to book this tour and you will see all you need of Glacier Point, the valley, Yosemite Falls, and other not so known places like Fern Spring. An hour was given at both Glacier Point and Yosemite Falls to explore. Then, you can spend the rest of your time exploring Tioga Road or Hetch Hetchy. Well worth the money spent on this tour! (Marsha planned it so we would end our tour in the park at Bridal Veil Falls to see the rainbow effect.) read more

Beyond fantastic! Saul was our tour guide. He was not only an extremely safe and considerate driver (consistently pulling into turnouts to allow other cars to pass) he was extremely knowledgeable about park history, geography, geology, flora and fauna, the entire package! It was like he'd lived, worked and played in the park all his life! I also appreciate that Saul's conversation with us was politically agnostic. I've visited Yosemite before but being focused on the road (and not driving off a cliff), trying to navigate, trying to find parking etc I missed so much of the overwhelming beauty that is Yosemite. On our return, one of the passengers suffered from motion sickness and began vomiting. Saul pulled over until she stabilized, then (with the help of other passengers) relocated her towards the front of the bus. It gets better though, once we started again Saul was even more gentle going through the turns to help her. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back! read more

As a first time visitor to Yosemite National Park we opted to take an all day tour of the park so that we could hit all the highlights, not have to worry about driving during rainy/snowy weather conditions, AND get some history along the way. Glenn was our guide and driver and from the very beginning he was very warm and friendly. We departed from Tenaya Lodge and during our first few minutes Glenn started giving details and background on the area. Where Glenn really shined though was how he dealt with a potential tour ending obstacle. Not long after we entered the south entrance to the park, highway workers informed us that part of the shoulder of the road ahead had eroded away and that they were going to close the road if conditions got worse. It was okay to cross, but by doing so we would most likely have to add an extra hour or two to our drive since we would have to exit the park from an alternate exit. After consulting with two different highway workers and discussing the situation with all of us on the tour; we opted to continue on. Glenn ensured us that the route was safe, but if any of us felt uncomfortable or unsafe that we could turn around, go back and get a rain check. Since we felt safe in his capable hands, we as a group decided to press on. And our entire group was thankful that we did. Glenn took us around the park, stopped at a bunch of great scenic points, and gave us a lot of information on wildlife, history, and the dos and don'ts of what to do when you're in the park. He was also cognizant of those of us in our group who had bathroom anxiety and always asked if anyone needed to use the restroom frequently throughout our trip as we approached different rest areas. Even though at times the rain was really coming down, he even asked us if we wanted to stop or not to get out to take photos. He really put us at ease and made our day that much more enjoyable. We couldn't have been happier with our tour. The only thing that would have made it perfect was if we had better weather! Great tour and a great way to see the park for the first time. On May 9th, 22 people from our motorhome club chartered an all-day Discover Yosemite Tour. The tour bus picked us up at Yosemite RV Resort in Coarsegold. I can't say enough about this tour company. Saul, our driver and guide was on time, and provided a wealth of knowledge regarding history, types of vegetation, wildlife, and current park management practices. The multiple waterfalls were full and spectacular. There were some climbers on El Capitan, and Saul pointed to their location (although some of us had difficulty seeing those little specks of human life). Definitely bring binoculars when you visit. The coup d'gras of the entire day was Glacier Point and the view of Half Dome........... Very knowledgeable and friendly guide who gave interesting information about the parks and stops along the way. Took this tour on 8/8/19. I was a bit nervous as I do get car sick. Marsha was our tour guide and she was amazing. She was very knowledgeable, thoughtful and handled the road very well. She made the trip enjoyable with her fun facts and history of the park. It is obvious she enjoys what she does and has much experience driving the Yosemite roads. I did not feel car sick once and that in itself says much about her driving skills and knowledge of the roads. At first I thought the cost was a bit pricey but it was worth it. Being able to see the beautiful sights, not worry about parking or having to stand in line for food or water allowed for more time to enjoy the park. We even got to see a black bear and her cub. Marsha not only knows the road like the back of her hand, so no concern here if she needed to take her hand of the wheel, it is obvious she totally enjoys what she does and that made this tour experience great. My husband and I had an amazing experience touring with Marsha. She shared such knowledge and passion about Yosemite and all its natural wonders, which was truly endearing. We were visiting for our first time in the first week of February so there were parts of the park that were closed due to snow and ice conditions but that was okay. We were on this tour with about 10 other visitors and she kept everyone's attention with her insight into the types of trees we were seeing, the rock formations as well as wildlife and her vast park history expertise. She knew so much and everyone asked questions, and sure enough she knew the answer. This was wonderful way to see AND experience some of the park while, learning so much from such a well-informed and zealous resource. Well worth the money and the time!! BTW, our lunch was delicious too! One tip - stay nearby! We drove down from the north in Calaveras County which is about 2 hours away and let me tell you driving on the side of a mountain with no guard rail for what seemed like forever (40 miles or so) was AWFUL! But that was from relying on the GPS. Marsha, gave us better driving directions back which were only slightly better... I guess that's the cost for seeing such a wonder like Yosemite! read more

This is our second trip with Discover Yosemite (Labor Day 2013 and June 2015). Both times we stayed at the Tenaya Lodge and booked the tour through the lodge. Both times Saul was the guide. This is definitely the way to go if you've never been. The tour takes care of all the driving and lunch... no need to fight for parking or try to figure out the best places to go because that's already been done for you. The second time they offered the upgraded lunch at the Ahwahnee and my husband and his friend went with that option. He preferred that to the sack lunch ;-). Saul was a great guide both times... very easy going and knowledgeable. When people come in to visit, we'll always use this company for our Yosemite tours! read more

You can just sit back, relax , take pictures from the bus and take in nature. While someone else drives 7. Discover Yosemite does provide snacks and water. That was a plus. 8. Joe-tour guide- was professional, friendly. He did not over talk during the tour just the right about of information we needed, He was not fake or try to be funny. It was a pleasure having him guide us through the Yosemite :) The only small negative thing is that they do require 4 people to have this tour. The night before only 3 people had booked this tour meaning it would be cancelled. My husband and I have never been to the Yosemite and drove 5 hrs. Yes Marsha is very knowledgeable about the park. However she is one of those who can not talk without using her hands. For a driver of a bus full of people, that is a very bad habit. Most of the time she was talking and driving her right hand was gesturing. On a winding, narrow and hilly road it is disconcerting. But when she takes both hands off the wheel to gesture it is down right scary. I talked to her about it at the second stop but it continued. I also had to mention that the use of hand held cell phones is illegal in California. She confirmed she was aware of that so why did she do it? I also contacted Discover Yosemite directly and was assured she knew the roads, she was a safe driver and they would talk to her about it. I will leave it up to other reviewers to see if she keeps her hands on the wheel. read more
