This place is very basic. The public bar is a bland expanse that seems to be stuck in the 1970s,…read morebut not in any aesthetically pleasing way. The building itself is an eyesore, and the interior is no different. You can buy a cold beer, and you can place a bet or play the pokies, but that's about the extent of the excitment. There is a good drive-through bottleshop on the pub's lower floor, but the rest of the establishment either needs a good refurbishment or to be replaced. I would have thought that, given its exposure to passing traffic, and with the property prices in the area skyrocketing, this hotel could attract a more affluent clientele. As it is, turn up on a Friday night and you'll either fall to sleep from boredom, or be knifed. I suppose it's not a bad place to finish a working work, and there are elements of an Australian tradition at Chardon's Hotel that aren't present in more modern premises, but there's something really truckie about this place that doesn't make the place very hospitable. Until the company who owns it does something drastic, I'd stay away.

This is one of the quietly celebrated shit hole pubs in the inner south west. There is NOTHING attractive about this place, but it's still one of the best places to have a drink, and I'm not even sure why. I think it's just because it's a no frills, no nonsense kind of pub. It's easy to think it was especially designed for bar flies. Those who have 'their machine' in the pokies room, and those who spend their pay check at the bar as soon as they get it. The majority of people who inhabit the Chardons Corner Hotel are such folk. There's no decoration about the place. The focus here is beer and pokies. It's got the basics and nothing more: a fully stocked bar, some tables and chairs, a pokies room and your stock standard garish pub carpet that is ugly enough to disguise any mishaps with spills. Smokers are well catered for too. They've got your standard pub events. There's FREE POOL on Tuesday nights, a pool competition on Wednesday nights, and you can blind people with your smarts at Trivia on Thursdays. I know where I'll be spending my evenings as soon as I move my gear to Annerley.

The staff were all very friendly, however the place suffered from an odd feeling - for example the buffet breakfast was strangely laid out down a pseudo corridor with the milk being around the corner for your cereal? And the coffee machine being hidden away!

The breakfast that was basically included ($1 extra) was one of the best buffets I ever got in comparatively priced and even pricier hotels (your mileage may wary. I eat a lot.). It is a little bit of a "hop" to the city via the "city hopper" (which is free by the way) but if you check the timetable (unlike us) you get from hotel to Eagle st pier in about 15 minutes tops. Overall one of my favorite places to stay in Brisbane hands down. Their cookies are pretty average though. Honestly not a single thing to nitpick at. The rooms and facilities are great! Although if I must, the choice of large sheets of frosted glass separating the bathrooms from the rest of the room can make room for some amusing situations. It does look pretty slick and modern as the rest of the room, so I digress. In summary, I would definitely recommend.

WOW to the WOW WOW!!…read more No words.. No words.... NO WORDS! Just beyond amazing is what I experienced at this hotel. From the moment that you arrive and walk in, you are instantly greeted with inviting smiles and the most relaxing, fruity, pleasant signature Capri by Fraser scent. No, I am not kidding. Each of the Capri by Fraser properties have their own crafted scents that are filtering through the vents and into the hotel lobby air. At this property the scent is a blend of apple blossom, cider wood, ginger flower, lemon and orange... HEAVENLY! I DID NOT want to check in to my room :) The theme of this Capri by Fraser property is feeling like you are in the rainforest. The designer was spot on because that is exactly how my friend and I felt staying here. Being the interior designer that I am, I have an immense appreciation for places with eye catching design and flow. The designers of this hotel (award winning designers ) Ministry Of Design really did an exceptional job on this entire property. The attention to detail they put into this place is off the charts. This place is the definition of trendy and urban chic. MY type of style ;-) So let's continue... The moment you walk into the lobby and to your right is a living vertical garden that is so beautiful and refreshing. To the left of that is the hotel restaurant, Asana by Chef Pete Evans which has a delicious seasonal menu serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was sooo good. On the second floor is the hotel gym, rec area, sauna and pool. All very well maintained with amazing amenities. The pool is a showstopper. My friend and I stayed there and relaxed all day going from pool to sauna and back to pool again. Loved the pool being indoors. It was insanely hot and humid outside! To top it off we had the pool all to ourselves!! :) With this hotel being under a year old, the staff do a great job keeping it extremely clean 24/7. Last but most definitely NOT least.... OUR ROOM! We were up on the 10th floor and had an amazing view of the buildings surrounding us. The room was very spacious with apartment style amenities. Anytime we requested anything, hotel staff would show up within 5 minutes, we didn't have to wait very long. Room service was fast as well and only took 15 minutes to be at our door every time we ordered something. Loved how isolated the sound was in our room. We had the music on very loud at some points throughout our stay and no one called to complain. It was nice to not hear the people next to us either :-p I can't think of one thing that I didn't like about staying at this hotel. I LOVED every part of my stay and the next time I plan on being in Brisbane I will definitely be staying at this place. Almost forgot to mention the concierge here, I forgot his name, he was so attentive to any of our excursion needs as well as any dinner plans that we wanted to make. He was amazing!! We had some excursion cancellations that happened and he was able to find us some other fun things to do and booked it for us within minutes. Super friendly and helpful! I am a FAN. ;-)

They've got some killer African restaurants, (try the Eritrean and Ethiopian restaurants in particular), some cute little cafes AND a great pub. Just at the end of the business strip along Beaudesert Road is where you'll find the Red Lion. It's looks as if it's been freshly unveiled after a renovation job, with it's fire engine red walls, and stainless steel furnishings. The pub has a nice alfresco area, it's very spacious on the inside, and offers a dining room that gives off something of a more sophisticated vibe. The pub grub is cheap as chips. You can get your surf and turf, and your steak and garden salad for around $15. The meals really are the highlight of the Red Lion. Outside of that, they've got your standard pub features. There's a long row of pokies, a tiny video arcade room complete with pinball machine, a couple of pool tables and a big long bar you can come in and sit yourself down at to wile away the afternoon chatting with the bar tender. There's a lot going on in Moorooka these days, it's a happenin' little place. Know that I know there's a pub out there with good eats, I'll probably be heading out there more often.

On first impressions we like the new refurbished venue. First the choice of ciders and beer on tap is great. Second the staff are lovely and helpful. Third, well the food, it's amazing, delicious, great value, and so much better than you would expect! The chef is brilliant! I had the slow cooked beef ribs with my choice of 2 sides; kipfler potato sand tomato with buffalo cheese warm salad. The beef was so soft and falling off the bones!!! The others at our table had beef cap and the lamb. We all loved our meals and, it seems we are going to have a meal here every 2 or 3 weeks. Come here try the place, you will love it!!
