Atmosphere and location don't come much better than this. Housed in a beautiful heritage building, the Grand View Hotel is Queensland's oldest licensed hotel. They have a couple of options in terms of food; the Emu Point Garden Bar & Restaurant and the Verandah Restaurant and Cocktail Bar.
The Emu Point Garden restaurant is the more casual of the two, but still this isn't a 'bogan' pub by any stretch of the imagination. Smart casual dress is required, although the laid back vibe remains; the dress standard merely guarantees that you won't be surrounded by smelly men in oil-stained singlets if you choose to eat here. The Emu Point Garden restaurant is where I ate, enjoying the peaceful garden setting as I tucked into my fish and chips.
The food here is what I would call high quality pub grub, featuring mainly steaks and seafood that is prepared with a little more care than your average watering hole. The prices reflect the extra dose of quality, but they're still reasonable, most of them rounding off to somewhere in the twenty-something range. There's a limited range of kid's meals along with lots of grassy areas and a playground for them to burn some energy as they wait impatiently for their food.
Opening hours listed are for drinks. If you're after food, on Mondays the restaurants are not fully operational but they do serve pizza. Tuesdays to Thursdays food is served until 8.30pm, Fridays and Saturdays until 9pm and Sundays until 8pm. read more
