I am a believer that the standard of a hotel should be reflected in its rating so, if I am staying at a 4 star like the Sebel, I expect to be wow'd by the establishment... and the Sebel was ok - it did not disappoint however I have to admit I was not taken off my feet.
The Sebel King George Square (not to be confused with the Sebel Suites on Charlotte Street) is conveniently located at the cnr of Ann & Roma Streets in Brisbane city. A 25 mins ride on the Airtrain, followed by an additional 5-7 mins walk from Central Station and you are there.
Cross Ann Street and you'll find yourself on King George Square where you can have a meal from The Groove Train or grab a coffee from Coffee Hit. Queen Street Mall is also only a short walk away as well.
The lobby is massive with comfy couches to sit on and relax. There are computers from which you can access the internet and phones as well. The staff @ reception were very nice and check-in was very quick. Those checking-out have the option to use the express check-out lane which speeds up the process. There is also a concierge desk to attend to any other needs that you may have.
Bistro Allure is located on the Ground Floor and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The KG Bar provides a sleek and funky setting where you can relax and enjoy a drink.
The swimming pool, sauna and gym on the upper floors provide further relaxation and health/fitness options.
I shared the Superior room with a mate of mine and it was spacious enough to fit 2 twin beds, a couple of single couches and a desk. I found the wardrobe quite small for 2 people and some of the shelves were dusty as well. The bathroom was of a decent size however a bit dated for my liking. In terms of in-room entertainment, you can choose between ordering a movie on their dedicated channel or browsing through the foxtel channels on offer.
The Sebel is great hotel with a wide array of guests services and will definitely suit the business traveller. Its convenient location makes it an appealing choice for those visiting Brissie. read more
