My first impression from the outside its really modern and clean, when I went in the same feeling was inside really clean and modern and the staff were very friendly. We ordered poppadoms to start with the sauces and they were lovely. For the main we shared a lamb curry some potatoes an onion rice and a pashwari nanna. I must say the food was delicious and really fresh. I would definitely go back next time I'm in Chorlton.

I visited the restaurant with my brother, who describes himself as a 'supertaster'... meaning he literally can not eat spice without crying. After ordering the second dish which was mild, he found it to be too spicy (I tried it and couldn't taste any spice). The waiter saw that my brother was finding it too spicy and came across to our table offered a number of options to cool the curry down. Now that's customer service! We didn't even ask. I has the mixed meat starter to begin with and although the presentation wasn't the best the food tasted great. I then went on to Coriander Lamb meatball curry which was melt in your mouth so tender. The on tap cobra beer was ice cold, the food full of flavour and the staff were excellent! I really recommend giving this place a try!

The doorman dressed in gorgeous Indian finery was an exciting start and we were warmly greeted on arrival. Drinks were served promptly from the friendly bartender. Downstairs in the fancy dining room we enjoyed some poppadoms with a stellar pickle tray - much wider choice than usual including my favourite lime pickle and a couple of other unusual choices. For mains I had the peshawari chicken, a new dish from their punjabi specialities section which was rich and flavourful, I'd recommend it. I also ordered an aubergine side dish which I thought was absolutely excellent although i could barely eat it as my mains portion was so generous. This is easily up there with Akbar's and Zouk as one of the premium Indian restaurants in Manchester city centre.

How handy is that for a city centre? Located right on the edge of the heart of Manchester's shopping district, it's a great spot to stop off on the way home or make an effort for in the context of a night out. And its riverside location certainly doesn't hurt. The Punjabi themed menu is delicious and inspiring. One of my favourite accompaniments is the aloo paratha, a chapatti which you think looks dry but is actually chockfull of coriander and tender, moist mashed potatoes. The Karahi section is truly amazing, with a tasty chickpea dahl, paneer shahi (Indian cheese with cream of cashew nuts, mustard seeds and tomatoes), and some incredible, melt in the mouth meats. Seafood is super too, the tiger prawns with peppery leaves being an excellent choice. We had delicious marinated white fish, tandoori chicken, mixed starters and a truly awe-inspiring giant naan on a tree. Wowsers! It was a great place to bring my London colleagues for a lovely bit of dinner on a Tuesday night. They were so accommodating, and brought all our food over speedily, even bringing us extra mango chutney and onion and tomato for our poppadoms. It's not formulaic or over-traditional, and it feels special. This place has a modern twist, and housed in one of the most impressive riverside buildings the city offers it makes for a delightful dining experience with its soft neon lighting, urban styling and water feature. It's definitely for connoisseurs who are looking for something slightly different, and it's a great place to bring a date or a family member... anyone you're looking to impress really!

We got the uber down, and went in. It was somewhat close to closing time so we easily got a seat and sat down. I was looking forward to this. As there was 2 of us, we decided to order 2 currys to share, 1 rice, naan, roti, and a starter. We got the gunpowder potatoes ... they were absolutely amazing .. but had a kick to them. I stupidly ordered a cocktail and forgot to ask for table water so I was feeling the burn. But these potatoes were amazing. With that we also had a basket of popadoms with various sauces. All were exceptional. The food came quite quickly and it looked and smelled amazing. The rice was plain basmati, and we went for a butter chicken, and chicken korma. I kid you not, the korma was the best I have ever tasted. it was SO good I have dreams about it. The butter chicken was also amazing with a little kick and it was perfect for 2 people to share. The naan and tandoori roti were perfect accompaniments and I honestly can't wait until I can return here for more food.

The restaurant was so dark that I had to use my phone's flashlight to read the menu. Some of the dishes I had ordered were listed under different names on the menu. This could be because the restaurant is from a region of India where the dish is called something else. For example, Dahl makhani was not listed on the menu, but the lentil dish was, and it tasted the same to me. The menu itself was difficult to read due to the low lighting and the confusing layout. It was like a maze, with columns and rows that didn't make sense. I had to carefully navigate through the menu to find what I was looking for. It was a frustrating experience, and I wish the restaurant had a better-designed menu.

For us it took just about 30 minutes (on a Thursday evening), so make sure you have no other plans this evening or come earlier. The place was full, we load to squeeze behind other guests backs - shows how popular the place is. Our waiter was very friendly and made us feel welcome immediately. For those who feel adventurous, there are chef's challenges with spicy food (I heard you get s free dessert if you finish it- however , can't vouch for this). In these competitive environs, Akbar's holds its own with its gigantic naans and its flavorful curries. It's interesting how you order at the lobby waiting area and move to your table only after you have placed your order. For starters, we got the lamb shish kebab which packed a ton of flavor. I wouldn't have expected that much flavor in the kebab just by looking at it. I wish it came with some sort of sauce so I wasn't eating just a plain kebab. For our mains, we got a chicken tikka masala and a lamb chili bhuna. It's cool how both of our entrees were placed on a box with a lit candle to keep our food warm. It's pretty elegant and nifty! I thought both dishes were tasty! The tikka masala was creamy and the chicken was tender. We ordered some garlic naan to wipe it clean! The lamb was excellent as well. Even though there are two chili signs on the menu, we asked them to tone it down to a mild spice level and it was perfect. The lamb was soft and the chili sauce was terrific. Overall, it was a unique dining experience and Rajdoot is definitely on the fancier end of the spectrum when it comes to Indian food.

The menu offers a choice of multiple small tiffin dishes, but we went for the more traditional option and had a full curry (there are a couple of biryani options, plus a few other things). I went for the ITR chicken (house chicken curry), Sparky went for the ITR lamb. Note that despite the similar names, these were very different dishes - not just a case of a single sauce being poured over different meats! Currys come with a choice of bread or rice; we went for the bread and were impressed with the big, freshly baked bread we got. The curry portions looked small when we first got them, but actually were surprisingly filling and we felt we got decent value for money. The curries themselves were both absolutely delicious - definitely better than we've had in places like Akbar's. Service was polite, and most exciting of all they had Kingfisher beer on tap!
