Seldom experienced a similar rock bottom experience in try to reschedule a visit with Dr. Corey Frucht. Despite lingering doubts over previous encounters with that office, attempt for THREE (3) days a re-schedule. Left two (2) messages requesting return calls. Result: DEAFENING SILENCE. Just called however staff person hung up. Made a second attempt two (2) minutes later that was not picked up likely to familiar caller ID and information that operator was on another call funneled to a voice recorder... The front desk staff is unabashedly rude, arrogant, inhospitable, and think nothing of outright lying to patients. There are many other competent dermatologists in the area, so why would one tolerate such unprofessional behavior before one even has a chance to see the physician? I am 60 years old and this is the first ever review I have written about anyone or anything and unfortunately I wish I would have read these reviews before I scheduled Dr. Frucht. It took me 6 months to get the appointment with Dr Frucht and a week before the appointment I spent what seemed like 20 minutes online filling out their exhaustive pre-appointment documentation. I recall the appointment originally being scheduled for 8:30am, but was told to plan on arriving early to fill out paperwork (which I had subsequently filled out online). The appointment confirmation text sent in advance said 8:15am. The morning of my arrival, I checked in at the front desk and paid my copay. After 10-15 minutes of waiting, I was called back up to the desk and was told that because I was "8 minutes late" that Dr Frucht couldn't see me today and that I would have to reschedule. Really? This is a first ever! While I was waiting, a patient was called in at 8:33am, presumably for an 8:30am appointment. I wonder what recourse she has for being called in 3 minutes late ... and I wonder what time Dr Frucht actually showed up in the exam room? What's ironic for a doctor that seems to be so fanatical about things, and its not like me to notice this, but his office just seemed sloppy, from the waiting room to the reception area to the visible storage area beyond. He may be a good doc, but I'll never know as I have already scheduled an appointment with a highly regarded dermatologist ... with good reviews. read more

It is too bad Dr Frucht can not find good staff and has a crappy billing service. The incorrect billing hassle has been too much. My insurance was not billed correctly so I overpaid and 2 months later still no refund. Maybe this office should just stick to botox and fillers and not deal with actual medical. read more

The worst front desk personnel that I have ever witnessed. I was not allowed to see the doctor, because the front desk tablet would not work, and no one would help me. I kept filling out the questions, but when I returned the tablet, I was told I had skipped every question. Not true. The only way to continue is to complete the page. I was refused a paper copy. Blatant discrimination against people without a computer. No help offered. Only derision. I was told I had to reschedule. I waited 3 months for that appointment. Another appointment won't fix the tablet, or make the front desk personnel kind or helpful. read more

Both my daughter and I have had excellent results with our different skincare issues and we have Dr. Corey Frucht to thank for this. If you have rosacea or acne, he can help you. Having clear skin makes both of us feel great. I have read some of the bad reviews here and have to say, we have never had this experience with Dr. Frucht or his office and we have been many times. They are all about helping patients and getting to the business at hand there. That said, they are not going to hold your hand and coddle you, that's not their job. Dr.Corey Frucht is an amazing physician. I work with doctors in my profession and my father is a retired surgeon, and I have been to many doctors over the years. Dr. Frucht has the best bedside manor of any physician I have ever visited. This is nice to have though the most important thing is that they are good at what they do, when it come to detecting skin cancer. I came to see Dr. Frucht as a new patient to have a full body check. I am out in the sun a lot swimming, skiing, surfing, and cycling. My current dermatologist was starting to retire and it took forever to get an appointment. When I called to make my initial appointment his wonderful office staff had me set up within a few days. Upon arrival I waited maybe 5 minuets before I was in the exam room and a few minuets later I was being seen by Dr Frucht. He found a mole that looked suspicious and decided to do a biopsy. Under his initial observation, he said it looked OK but wanted to get a second opinion from a more specialized pathologist. I am so glad he did. it turns out it was a Melanoma, fortunately not aggressive and caught early. He took his time to explain everything, always asking if i had any questions. He was very concerned about how psychologically affected I was, and very reassuring. This was on a Tuesday and he was ready to do in office surgery on Friday. The two follow up appointments were thorough and again very quick, but never rushed. During all the procedures he explained every step of what he was doing and why, Always asking if i had any questions or felt any pain. (By the way it was all pain free) I can't say enough good things about Dr.Frucht and his excellent staff. He exemplifies the standard of what a medical professional should be. read more

I recently moved to Santa Barbara from New York City. The stress of the move caused my skin to break out, and I am 42 years old. It doesn't look great on a 14 year old, but at least people expect it. Also, you gotta look good in Santa Barbara! Dr. Frucht explained my options to me, and he came up with a medication treatment plan that has made a huge difference. He has followed up with me to see how I am doing every step of the way. Aside from being deeply knowledgeable on all issues related to skin, I found him to be a personable, thoughtful clinician who was always attentive to my needs, and most importantly, my skin-even when he reminded me to put on skin block. Such a great doctor! I have very fair skin and started to notice some sun spots and little red spots (cherry angiomas) that we're becoming more noticeable and starting to bother me. One visit and wa-la! Brown spots and angiomas are gone! I had an IPL laser treatment and went back for a second treatment after about 6 months because I was so pleased with the results. I went complaining of rosacae problems. He claimed they don't know what causes it. I literally begged him to tell me if it was something I was eating, or drinking, or applying to my face and I would give it up. Nope, he insisted that they don't know what causes it. He gave me some antibiotic cream which was no help whatsoever. Sounds like a waste of time in medical school for them not to know what can possibly cause rosacae. So I went through a process of discovery for my own darn self and stopped using everything and reintroduced products. I engaged in extensive research about my symptoms. Sure enough salicylate is in literally everything you might use as a beauty product - sunscreens, toners, acne products, as both salicylate and other hidden names like beta-hydroxy-acid or benzyl peroxide. No wonder my face was a mess! And they suspect drinking might be an issue, but folks, it may not be the alcohol itself, but the additives used to make it - like tartaric acid which is used to speed the fermentation process - never mind the naturally occurring tartaric acid, and never mind that salicylate is very high in those products. And another obvious suspect was balsamic vinegar which doesn't have alcohol but still comes from wine. I would literally douse my salads with it thinking, "I'm saving calories and adding flavor" rather than "I'm poisoning myself and ruining my skin." What I really want to know is why the hell aren't they teaching this in medical school? My face has mostly cleared up, thanks to me and no thanks to this guy. But I could have been saved years of needless suffering with other symptoms which were related to salicylate sensitivity beyond just skin problems. That being said, if he were looking for skin cancer and treating you for that, I'm sure he could do a good job. But seriously, folks, medical science often fails. read more

After extensive research I chose Dr. Frucht as my,hopefully, new dermatologist largely due to his excellent reviews. Image my shock when he told me he did not find himself qualified to remove five 1-2 centimeter cysts ( lipoma) from my scalp due to the extremely small chance that one of them could be cancerous. He recommended that I have them removed by a plastic surgeon. ( Do they now diagnose cancer???) Isn't it suppose to be part of his professional expertise to diagnose skin cancers and treat them? His web site states: "Board-certified medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatologist serving the city of Santa Barbara." So what is really going on? In any case his parting words  "we are here for you" came across as trite; empty shells of nothingness following immediately on his refusal to treat me. My daughter saw Dr. Frucht same day appointment due to HS he was amazing. Glad I found him because another local dermatologist's PA had send me to L.A. to see a surgeon for surgery. So happy with the care Dr. Frucht provided to my daughter he went above and beyond and wanted to try a least invasive procedure 1st. Also, his Medical Assistant was awesome very caring/compassionate after my daughter had an injection to treat her HS. Totally recommend him. read more

Unfortunately, Dr. Frucht's office is very poorly managed and has the worst patient care I've ever seen. I've been on a medication prescribed by Dr. Frucht for a year. The medication automatically refilled every month and I did not know it would stop after a year. When I called the office for a refill I was told that could not happen until I was seen by Dr. Frucht who was scheduled out for multiple months. I was told I could see a NP but still would need to wait 2 weeks to be seen. I asked if I could get a refill to cover the time til the appointment and was told absolutely not. All I could do was wait for my scheduled appointment. The day of my appointment arrives and I could not find parking in the lot. I ended up arriving at the office 9 minutes past my appointment time after eventually finding parking on the street. The receptionist was on the phone and I waited longer to be checked in. When the receptionist got off the phone he told me it was now 12 minutes past my appointment time and they could no longer see me. He said their grace period was 10 minutes (which I met but was still refused service and at no point was this time frame ever conveyed). Despite pleading to be seen for my quick refill appointment, I was repeatedly denied care. It's clear to me that Dr. Frucht's office does not care for its patients and I will be finding a different dermatologist in town. read more

Dr. Frucht is one of the kindest people you'll meet. I have seen him several times for appointments between myself and my son. He is also a colleague of my husband, who is also a doctor. All of our family's interactions with Dr. Frucht have been very positive and I feel like I can really trust his expertise. It is no surprise that his practice has taken off the way it has. Since I'm rather new to the Santa Barbara area, I didn't know where to find a reputable dermatologist for cosmetic procedures. I had a few consultations with recommended doctors in the area but something had been unsettling with each experience. I've been apprehensive about botox, lasers and fillers since having a few negative experiences in the past. Plus, I had heard plenty of horror stories about medi spas or doctors who overprescribe. Now that my son has turned 3 and I had turned 43, I was longing to look more "rested". When I met Dr. Fruscht he knew exactly what I meant! He took his time with me and made some realistic suggestions which involved the less is more route. I'm so happy with my results. Dr Frucht is an amazing physician! He has done several procedures on me and I trust him and his knowledge without a doubt I know I am in good hands. Dr Frucht listens to the patient and doesn't go to extreme measures, but gives you exactly what you want. As someone that has suffered from acne as a teen I have scars that have always been a problem for me, Dr Frucht helped with a halo laser on my cheeks to decrease the scaring that helped immensely. Other procedures were super costly and did not give me any results. Also he's given me Botox on my brow to decrease lines, around my eyes for crows feet and my smile lines, to give you back your youthful look! The results were amazing and his technique was not painful at all! Dr Frucht also made sure I was happy with the results following up on me daily, to make sure the results were exactly what I wanted. Lastly, Dr Frucht put filler in my lips, one of my favorite cosmetic procedures. ;) He never has made me look "duck lipped" it's always been a very natural plump, I even asked for more filler, and he knew the result would not look good and discouraged, wanting my lips to look natural as they do. I've always been pleased with everything I've had done with dr Frucht and also have had the pleasure of being able to work with him when he was practicing at UCSD. I wish he was still near so I could continue to get my care and cosmetic work from him. I went to Dr. Frucht to get an evaluation of several spots on my body, which I were afraid might be cancer. He didn't listen, didn't explain, wanted to continue my exam without even looking at me when I was asking very specific questions about my hands. After explaining that I had been on Efudex 5 times for my hands without a reaction (to indicate it was working), that is what he prescribed once again. It was apparent that what I was saying was of no consequence, he had a set agenda, was going to do his routine exam without any input from me. He then rushed me out of his office and charged a small fortune. When he popped my underwear to check my butt for any abnormalities - whether intentionally or not - it irritated me. I complained when I checked out and they said he would see me again if I wanted to go back into a room. No thanks, once was enough! When I called complaining that the report of my visit was incomprehensible and illegible, the office manager, although nice and patient, was unable to answer or transcribe the report.
