I work in the area and was looking for some kind of fitness solution for a person who is over 40, but with a personal training aspect because I'm really lazy and need personal attention. I found Stephany's studio while I was driving down the street by the mall, and went in to ask about programs. Three months later, I'm finally getting around to writing a review!
First, the studio is immaculate and gorgeous, with a generous supply of equipment for small groups - not so big that it's like a huge gym, though, more intimate. If you've never done pilates before, which I hadn't, then you are asked to sign up for an intro package of 5 private lessons. She's an excellent instructor, in my opinion, because she'll push you and motivate you very gracefully, with humor and warmth. She's just a delight, very sweet personality but an absolute "micro-manager" of your form which I love. I had no idea that my tiny little muscles could be so stubborn, and she's in a constant state of correction with me to help me see where I can perfect my efforts. That probably doesn't sound fun but it actually is. I have worked with personal trainers in general fitness/weight training for a decade, and no one has ever given me such personal attention to the smallest detail of my form to make sure I'm getting the most out of each move.
I was super intimidated by the pilates machines at first, they seem like some sort of weird S&M or torture machines, but now that I've working on them a few months I really think they're a cool way to exercise for someone as ADD as me because there's no end of variations we can try out. Some of the moves seriously kick my butt, but I'm hoping that I'll end up with a lovely "yoga body" if I keep it up.
She also has yoga classes on Friday after work, which has become my way of winding down the week and undoing the stress. The group classes are very affordable and I'm really happy that she's so convenient for me in Aurora! read more
