Dr. Berry is the best chiropractor I've ever been to. I played college soccer and was a part-time nursing assistant. Between the two of those responsibilities, my body would go through a lot of wear and tear. After going to Doctor Berry, I feel so much better and refreshed. I had never been to a chiropractor before and had no idea where to go,but pregnant with my third baby I could barely walk I was hunched over in a lot of pain. I started coming to Dr. Berry towards the end of my pregnancy due to back pain. It was my first time ever visiting a chiropractor and I was a little nervous. The thing that stands out to me about Dr. Berry is the variety of techniques he can use. He's particularly effective treating soft tissue problems using Graston tools. Finding a provider with that certification is not always easy to find which makes him a specialist in his field. I first met Dr. Berry of Advanced Wellness in July of 2015. My search to find a doctor who works naturally to break up scar tissue led me to Dr. Berry's doorstep. I had a large area of scar tissue form across my chest, around the side of my rib cage under each arm. In 2007, after being diagnosed with breast cancer, I went through bilateral mastectomies and reconstruction. But last year, I went in for replacement after a nasty fall ruptured one of the implants. There were complications. Immediately following the first surgery I developed an edema requiring me to return the same day for emergency surgery. Within two weeks I developed an infection on the same side as the edema (left, also the side with cancer and radiation). I returned for emergency life saving surgery where both implants were removed. Drains had been placed, removed and replaced then again with the final surgery, removed and replaced. After having the drains removed for the final time the amount of scar tissue was massive and had begun limiting my movement. Much to my surprise, when I tried to find a person in Bakersfield who offers this type of service, I heard crickets ~ Having experienced a previous injury which required scar manipulation, I knew I had to find an experienced hand quickly. Time is of the essence so getting in right away before the scarring has a chance to form and harden is key to the final outcome. Since the area is over my chest privacy and trust are crucial. My emotional and mental state weren't much better than my physical state so empathetic care was a must. After an extensive search and many emails and calls I found Dr. Berry. I've been seeing Dr. Berry for Graston Therapy for close to one year now. I've gotten to know him and his staff and I consider them personal friends now. Dr. Berry made me feel at ease right away with his easy demeanor and wide breadth of knowledge about the human body. What really sets him apart however is his attitude towards his patients. Sincerity is something that can't be manufactured and his sincere desire to get to the root of your problem is evident within the first few minutes of talking with him. I've spent 15-20 min. one on one every week (sometimes multiple times per week) and Dr. Berry is always professional, personable, respectful, compassionate, positive and kind hearted. His knowledge of the human body and in his specialty, women's health, is impressive and evident in his treatments. In addition to dealing with the scar tissue, I have autoimmune disease (RA) resulting in painful swollen joints. By the time I came in for my first visit the chronic pain in my neck & areas of my upper and lower back was something I thought I'd have to live with for the rest of my life. I experienced noticeable relief with the first visit. The improvement I felt in the weeks that followed was nothing short of a miracle for me. He has improved the quality of my life immensely and I am forever grateful to him and his wonderful staff. His office is warm and inviting, the furnishings and equipment are newer, tasteful and well cared for. His staff is incredible! I've gotten to know Alex and Eddie a little more than the rest of the staff because they are usually the assistants who are in the room with us during the treatments. You can get to know a lot about people over a period of time and I feel I can say with certainty, the people who work at Advanced Wellness are top notch. My kids are extremely busy with sports and Dr. Berrys office is able to accommodate their schedules and we never have to wait. If our appointment is set for 10am then that is when he calls us back. My rating is for the phone manners of the staff - I have called a couple of times trying to make appointments for massage but the staff are so rude and unhelpful that I never end up making an appointment. As the first line of contact for clients, front desk staff should really be trained in phone courtesy. I will not be trying make appointments here again. read more
