John Howell was approached by several friends and neighbors who wanted to learn how to draw and paint in a realistic style. Within a year, the word was out, John had too many students to teach himself, and the Cordovan Art School officially opened in 2009. Cordovan Art School has become a place for anyone who loves art to learn from classically trained artists who teach the fundamentals Art! In the Summer, kids from all over Texas come to Cordovan Art School to enjoy the Best Art Camps in the Greater Houston Area!
Meet the Business Owner: John H.
John Howell founded Cordovan Art School in 2009 after too many friends and neighbors had been asking to take private art classes. Needing more studio space, Cordovan Art School was born!
Shortly thereafter, John teamed up with the Arts Council in Round Rock TX to start a family-fun Chalk Walk festival, which brings in 45,000+ people each year. John Howell studied Illustration at Brigham Young University, and then studied more about anatomy/ figure drawing at the Watts Atelier of the Arts in Southern California.
Today, artists of all ages find joy in taking art classes & camps at Cordovan Art School. Most artists come to relax, learn, and get creative with friends. During summer, the creativity gets kicked up a notch with our award-winning art camps!
The Pottery Parlor was added in 2017, giving family and friends another reason to hang out, and be creative together.
