We came in here with an intention and a budget. We didn't want to be sold on what the salesperson wanted to sell. We were pleasantly surprised to find a kind and accommodating sales team with nothing but options available for us to pursue. We wanted a vertical acoustic piano in black and the available stock in our price range was low. Keith (I think), recommended some other verticals in brown wood finishes, but we had our preferences. He was careful not to pressure us into anything and we ended up stumbling upon and asking about the Roland line of digital pianos. He was knowledgable and helped ease our concerns around digital versus acoustic. We ended up buying a Roland, because it met the needs of our family at the moment. Eventually, when we can move to a larger house, we'll be back here to see about getting a bigger acoustic piano! The close of the sale and the follow-up to the pick-up were pleasant experiences as well, which is why we highly recommend Pianoland! read more

5+ stars! I am forever grateful to Pianoland for their care and kindness in fixing our piano. The piano's leg had been broken, with the leg's model no longer in production, and they were able to sculpt a new one perfectly; it now looks identical to the other piano leg. They then delivered the piano smoothly with great expertise. The entire business is such a treasure with kind customer service and excellent knowledge in all piano maintenance! Thank you so much for your help! We very highly recommend this business for all of your piano services. Thank you again, Pianoland! read more

i think this place takes on a little more business than they can handle. i called to schedule a piano tuning- they were difficult to get a hold of, and the soonest available appointment was about two months out. the technician who came was very friendly and talkative, but i noticed the first time i played my newly tuned piano, that the lower register was audibly dissonant when i played chords and octaves. when i called to explain the situation, i was put off for about a week, and then met with a hard defense of the years and years of family business, the skill of the technician, the history of my piano, and basically everything you could think of to deny that i had a rushed, bad tuning. then, the best thing they could offer me was $20 off another $150 tuning session. "unless there's something i'm missing here"... i will most likely be calling someone else for the next piano tuning. read more

I've been to Cordogans several times over the years, I'm always impressed with the pricing and selection. Great staff.

We bought a Steinway. Bill was extremely knowledgeable. They refinished the piano, and it looks brand new. Highly recommend. Not used car salesman. Piano delivery was on time and as scheduled. read more

I visited this store this past weekend and I was so impressed by the store and the staff. I have never seen a store with such a selection of pianos and the staff is so helpful, personable and knowledgeable. I went during COVID and they only have one customer in the store at a time, so making an appointment is recommended. They helped me find the perfect piano and I cannot wait until it is delivered. I highly recommend this store to anyone searching for a quality piano. It was a but of a drive to get there for me ,but was definitely worth the trip. MHill read more

Cordogan's Pianoland - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Geneva, Illinois

I made the mistake of hiring a regular moving company (who assured me they were experienced piano movers) to move my grand piano. Big mistake. Big, big mistake. They caused an unbelievable amount of damage to the black lacquer all over my piano. This is where Cordogans came to the rescue. They picked up my piano and brought it back to their shop for repair. Although they put a disclaimer on the end result, stating that there are no guarantees the damage would be 100% repairable, the end result was amazing. Even though I know exactly where to find the prior damage, there is none to be seen. Their repairs were flawless. Everyone from my contact at Cordogans to their piano technicians to their expert piano movers was super courteous and knowledgeable. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Cordogans. read more

This is my experience with Cordogan's Pianoland. They state that they will buy pianos and have instructions for doing so on their web site. Following their website instructions, I completed their electronic form for selling my piano, with the requested information and submitted it. I also photographed my piano, as per their directions, and sent the photos to their email, again, as per their instructions. I never heard back! After 10 days I called to make sure that they had received my submission. The woman who answered the phone said that she would contact the person responsible for purchasing pianos and that they would call me back soon. They never called me back. I would have liked decency to at least have received an acknowledgement of my submittal. Just ignoring me is rude and very unprofessional. I would not recommend dealing with this unresponsive company. read more

They have some beautiful pianos here! It seems like this showroom is in the middle of nowhere, but they have tons of room for many pianos. It's just what you want when you are looking. I was looking for a used piano, so my review is based on that. I went in on a weekday in the afternoon and I had a salesman spend about 45 minutes with me. He took me to the back of the store and showed me the shop where they refurbished and worked on the used pianos. He explained to me in detail what to look for, what was good and what was bad. He was VERY helpful. They have some used pianos here, but most of them are at the higher end, like Steinways. They carry mostly new pianos, including digital ones, and some of them are really nice and you pay for that. If you want a piano bar in your house, they have a great piano for that. They also have a piano with lighted keys and another one that you can hook up to your DVD player and it will play the piano music for the song that they are singing. Wonderful stuff, but that's not where I'm at. But the service here is impeccable. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was that the salesman was really trying to get me to get a digital piano. That's not what I was looking for, but he spent lots of time going over that option with me. Besides that, I was really glad I went here. read more

Stopped by to do our due diligence while shopping for a new piano and we were really pleased. Rick spent a while with us showing us around and he was very informative but was never pushy. About a month or two we came back to check out some more new and used pianos and ended up buying a new Yamaha. They gave us a great deal and it included delivery and a couple of tunings. They delivered it within the estimated time period and the delivery guys were nice. Would definitely recommend. read more

I'll start by saying that live in the northern suburbs and the idea of going out to Geneva wasn't originally in the cards, but I was surprised to find that after visiting all the stores in my area, and not having a good experience and not seeing a big selection anywhere, I found the chicagopianos.com website and saw so much great information, I loaded up the family and headed west. It didn't disappoint. You can tell right away this is a Chicagoland institution with a massive inventory and knowledgable people who care. Right from the beginning, I felt as ease because they actually have a children's area with a lot of activities so I could actually concentrate on having a conversation. That was a big plus. Someone from their office even came out to help entertain the kids. John ended up asking me a lot of questions that I hadn't been asked and he helped me to start to understand what type of piano I actually NEEDED. I don't play and my wife played a little as a kid but we definitely want our kids to learn, so no, we didn't know what we should buy and we didn't even know all our options were until coming here. All along, I thought I was going to buy a used piano but I surprised myself and bought a new one. In looking back, I was finally able to put my finger on why I changed gears. I didn't feel comfortable buying a used piano from any of the other stores I visited. And although I did feel comfortable buying a used one there, I bought new because the pricing was great and frankly I got tired of looking for the perfect used grand. From all my shopping and online homework, I also realized that even if I could find the perfect used piano, it didn't seem like I was going to save enough to offset the time, hassle, the shorter warranty, risk, etc. The delivery went great and the kids are enjoying their lessons. So far so good! read more

In my many years for a search for the right piano for me and at a price point that fit my budget, I am amazed that I didn't visit Cordogan's Pianoland years earlier! They were so patient in helping me turn a half-hearted inquiry of getting a nice piano into an undeniable deal! I tried several of their pianos and they answered all my questions and listened to all my needs in order to find JUST the right one for me! John is enthusiastic and honest and the rest of his crew were very nice as well. Rick ended up to be the one to handle my account and he made the whole process of financing, delivery and service very easy! Their offices are polite and thorough in handling payment and making that part super easy. (THAT is the biggest deal for me!) Thank you Cordogan's! read more

I am so happy we made the decision to make the road trip to Cordogan's. We were in search for the perfect used black grand piano and they made it happen. Great experience! Amazing selection with a huge inventory. The staff was a pleasure, no pressure. It was so worth the drive. read more

I recently visited Cordogan's Pianoland to shop for a piano. The showroom was a bit difficult to find as the address was not findable on my GPS, but they are in the middle of nowhere so have a ton of floorspace. They have an impressive collection of both new and old pianos, and even workshops for refinishing pianos, which I've never seen elsewhere. I spent several hours there test driving a lot of pianos, and my salesperson was very friendly and not pushy at all, allowing me to make a decision on my own time. I eventually found the piano for me, and I've been thrilled with it since its arrival in my home, as it both looks and sounds beautiful. I also have a great note about the customer service. After the delivery people left, I found out that where I had them place it was not where I actually wanted it (my fault). I called Cordogan's, and they actually sent the movers to me within that week to shift it for me, free of charge. If you're in the area and shopping for a piano, this is a no-brainer, definitely give them a visit! read more

I am a piano teacher and professional pianist. Recently I decided to purchase a new piano. I sourced fellow musicians and some piano technicians about where to start my search. It began and ended at Cordogan's. The staff's knowledge, their understanding of my needs and situation, the selection, and the SERVICE couldn't be matched. I was a person seeking a huge investment ( and a good piano is an investment, not a piece of furniture). I had waited decades to get the piano of my dreams. The staff educated me about different brands and encouraged me to play a variety of instruments for as long as I liked. I actually had fun! I felt and heard the difference in a variety of grands, without pressure from the staff to hurry and select immediately. They wanted me to choose the instrument that was "me" -- one that fit me musically and professionally. I made two trips and chose an instrument I absolutely love. Cordogan's focus on customer satisfaction didn't end with the bill of sale completion. The piano was tuned prior to delivery. Delivery occurred when scheduled by professionals who took great care of the piano and my home. They explained how to care for my new treasure. And I received a tuning five weeks later for my grand. I recommend Cordogan's to my students and parents of students because of my experience. Carol read more

The BEST experience upgrading our family piano! We purchased our first 'starter' piano from Cordogan's 6 years ago. When it came time to upgrading, Cordogan's was a no-brainer. We were able to trade in and trade up. Every interaction with Cordogan's was a pleasure; from Rick on the floor (he was pleasant, patient, helpful!) to Jeff for scheduling delivery (again, patient, pleasant and helpful), to delivery (careful, diligent, accommodating - they had to reposition the new baby grand twice)! My daughter loves practicing on her new baby grand - she refers to it as her new Porsche. Thank you Cordogan's!! Needless to say, I highly recommend them - twice! read more

Our family went to Pianoland in search of a new or used high quality grand piano. We had previously visited other piano stores and spent a fair amount of time thinking about a piano. I was not, however, confident that the drive to Pianoland would be worthwhile. My thoughts were misplaced as Pianoland is a true piano store with expert salesman, a large facility for restoring and working on pianos, and a good inventory of new and used pianos. Don't let the somewhat cheesy web site scare you away. Pianoland has what you want in a pianostore. I would avoid the "minimall" stores that lack expertice and the facility required to care and maintain pianos. Our piano guy was Rick Bell. Rick was a nice guy and (on a Saturday afternoon) spent obout four hours looking at various pianos and educating us with respect to buying a piano. Our four kids behaved relativley nicely at the store and spent most of the time looking at pianos and coloring in a special kids area. Unlike some of the other piano salesman that we encountered at other stores, it was clear that Rick is in the piano business because he loves pianos (and golf). Rick put us at ease and did not use the "hard sell" that was so common at the other piano shops (you will know what I mean after you visit a piano store or two). My wife immediately fell in love with an Estonia piano on the showroom floor.. I do not play piano - but I favored the sound of a very large Mason. We left the store and took time to think about the pianos. We determined that the Mason was really just too big for our home and my wife did additional research about Estonia pianos and visited another piano store. The Estonia is an excellent piano that is often compared to professional level pianos - but sells at a fairly reasonable price. The Estonia piano sounds great and has a very smooth and big sound. My wife and I settled on a plan and I called Rick late one weekday evening to make an offer on a new ebony polished Estonia studio grand piano. We went back and forth with Rick once or twice the next evening and we landed a great deal on a new Estonia piano. We did the final purchase all by phone. I believe that it is a great time to buy a new piano. Rick was cordial and we struck what I believe to be a very fair deal. I felt good about the pocess and do not think it could have gone any better. Our new piano is being finished and should be delivered in October. read more

We bought our piano here years ago and my kids sit down and play on a daily basis...often together! Cordogan's provided expertise and direction in choosing our baby grand. I recently purchased a Yamaha N2 piano from Cordogan's and the experience was excellent. I had researched the options before visiting Cordogan's and had been to one other store in the Chicago area. What made me choose Cordogan's was the knowledge of the sales person, the selection available, and the professionalism of the sale in general. The delivery of the piano was seamless, delivered on the promised date within the time frame they quoted. These people are so nice. I think this is a family run business and you can tell they really care about their customers. It's refreshing. read more

What you think you know about pianos...you probably don't know enough to make the best investment when buying a piano. Cordogan's Pianoland will help you select a piano that is right for YOU, and not what other piano sellers often do--try to focus your interest on a piano that they happen to have in overstock or whatever. Think of most piano stores like used car lots. But Cordogan's Pianoland is the most reputable piano vendor you can find. And they've been in business forever. I bought my piano from them about 25 years ago. Loved it. It was a console Kawaii with such a rich quality. I hated to find a new home for it, but we we were moving from our large home in Bolingbrook to a 2 bedroom apartment in Austin. One of the owners, Johnny, worked with us as we went back and forth our minds...wanted to keep it instead of sell it back to them. He suggested storing it with them. Novel idea! We decided to pay their very reasonable storage fees until my daughter moves to a place where she can again enjoy piano-playing. Perfect solution. The piano stays in the family, and my husband and I are happily living in Texas with an electronic piano/organ (purchased from Cordogan's Pianoland of course) that fits well with our new lifestyle. Oh. By the way, forget about trying to sell a piano yourself. I tried for 8 months, but I I got only one call that was legitimate. And really...neither should anyone buy a used piano from an owner. You don't know what you're buying...think used car lots again...and what shape it's really in. How would you know what's under the hood?! It's no joke. Buying a piano from sketchy place could end up being a true waste of money. Who wants that? Enjoy your new or refurbed piano from Pianoland and you'll have piece of mind, great service, and a glorious instrument. And that's the truth. read more

As we are new to the world of pianos and have limited space in pour home, and we were unsure how long our 7 year old would stick with the instrument, Cordogan's recommended an upright keyboard. It has been the perfect instrument for her and very much fit into our budget and home. Cordogan's was wonderful to work with from rental agreements to delivery, they have amazing customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone new to piano or extremely seasoned, they are the best! read more

I just updated the hardware on my Disklavier at least a couple of yrs after receiving their email that it was available and now wish I did it sooner. Wow! Thank you for the recommendation! Even 6 yrs after I purchased my piano from Cordogan's, I still get the same amazing customer service I received when I first visited there. At that time I looked into several other piano businesses and there was no question that this was the premier location in all of the Chicagoland area to buy your piano. Every single inquiry I have made over the years have been answered almost instantaneously! They are terrific-- with the added bonus of likely getting a price you can't beat elsewhere, and a double-bonus for Chicagoans of a LOWER SALES TAX in Geneva! As a physician who deals with customer service all day long, I can honestly tell you, this is THE place to shop for, repair or restore a piano. read more

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Rick who sold us our first piano! We had called many stores and even felt misled by a few sales reps (who we felt had their best interest in mind) and from the moment I first called Rick...I knew we were going to buy a piano from him! I would've waited 6 months until the right piano came in, to buy one from Rick. After dealing with a couple reps at other piano stores...who we felt seemed to have "shady" ways of doing things, Rick was extremely refreshing. He was extremely knowledgeable, but I also felt he was honest, very fair, hard working and above everything I felt he had our best interests at heart as well the stores. In a world where everyone is after a fast dollar it is really nice to come across someone who really values what good customer service should be, and who is honest. My kids have started playing piano and I cannot tell you the joy it brings hearing their music fill the air! It also reassuring to know we didn't get taken, but got a very fair price! The follow up and customer service even after the sale (delivery and tune up) have been outstanding! We did our research and I would highly recommend Cordogan's Pianoland in Geneva! read more
