Teeny tiny. Real dank and dirty. When I went it was the summer on a weekday, there was no cover but it was busy with students that were townies, especially from Bethel. Townies mixed with students from Holy Cross and Notre Dame in the regular season. If you are in your 20s, you will be surrounded by people your age. Not a bad Irish bar as it has three unique environments withen the bar being in an old building and so forth. This is no BWW and the uniqueness of this pub is highly appreciated. I hate this bar for the following reasons: -It costs $5 just to walk in and there is supposedly a "dress code," but that place is always full of shabbily dressed douches, so who knows. -The dancing is basically nonexistent, even though they have a dance floor. I guess nobody wants to ruin their Saturday night best that they had to wear just to get in. Saturday night best includes White Sox baseball caps worn backwards, cargo shorts, and flipflops, fyi. -You can smoke there. I know this is an Indiana thing, but I feel like Corby's has a specifically bad smoking population. -You WILL get groped by a stranger, even if the bar isn't crowded. -Tuesday nights are college night, so just stay away, unless you like wearing vomit. -The back patio is reserved for people who feel they'd rather play cornhole at a bar with a $5 cover charge and more expensive Miller Lite, instead of just at home with the cheaper stuff. And you will get the stare down if you go out to the patio and interrupt their game. I give this crap hole one star because the building itself does not offend me and the beer is cold and cheap. Other than that, avoid this place like the plague, unless you like getting side glances from trashy girls and trashier guys. read more

Nice little corner pub. Fills up the ND students late night. Great pizza and grinders. Sixteen beers on tap. Three Floyd has 3 of the tap. Locals on my left and right bellied up to the bar were cool to talk to. If I had attended ND as a student this would have been my Muglys at BSU. That dating me a bit. Cool place. read more

This is not the original Corby's. This is the second manifestation of Corby's. The first was much smaller and on Eddy Street. That said, it's a welcoming atmosphere, even for your average townie who's choice for the hour is to party amongst the student population. Still, just average. read more

I like Corby's for all different occasions. It has like 4 different bars in one, with an outdoors, quiet room where you can talk, pizza room, and dancing/bar room. The pizza is great, the tap selection is good, and I think the crowd is diverse. Drinks here are not the cheapest in South Bend, but they have decent specials. read more

Not a bad place as I first thought. Came here to celebrate my fiancé promotion. Went to the Dj area to request a song (didn't realize you had to jump over the security guard who is leaning over the entire stage area, blocking the path to speak with the Dj). I ask the guard since he was blocking the path if I could request a song. His girlfriend who was standing there also perpendicular to the stage railing, rose up from her seat and began talking directly to me. I honestly couldn't hear her at all and repeatedly said "what?" And she continued to enter my personal space and kept waving her hand in my face saying "bye-bye.." not sure why, I'm assuming her alcohol level was blinding her judgment and ultimately led her into immediate defense mode feeling threatened by me speaking with "her man" (as she said). I became upset and confused with the situation, where then the security guard took his lady friends side and was also surprisingly unprofessional himself. I was shocked and walked away and of course. When I came back to the group (who were playing pool at the time) I arrived there and they asked if I made the request for the song, I obviously repeated the strange experience to them. My fiancé was confused by this and wanted to clear the moment with both the employee of this establishment and his personal affair. Because he was holding a pool stick in his hand the security guard instantly became way over defensive right off the start. There was no middle ground, no questions, nothing. Just attack mode on a customer. I couldn't believe it and neither could my fiancé. This "guard" was not protecting the customers, or the establishment, he was focused on creating and escalating a situation which ultimately ended up happening. I was called names, embarrassed and insulted by these "employees". Yes, of course I became then defensive for my fiancé and stood by him ready to protect and do what whatever I may of needed to do, as any human being would - I will never come back here and further spread this story. Things like this should be avoided and not stirred, especially by the staff who is there to break up and block these same situations happening between their customers. It's an outrage and poor service. I caution those trying to have a good time here and or if you do go avoid "ghetto" individuals and their affairs with the security guards at all costs. I guess it was my mistake for even trying to request a simple song. I would suggest the manager to deal head on with this situation of "lovers quarrel" from taking place while on the clock at work. Very disappointing. Although I do respect the employee who came running outside to apologize for their employees behavior, and welcoming us back in the future, however; I will certainly not be coming back here again to be insulted and attacked by the individuals whose job is solely to avoid that from happening. read more

There are times when you want to go to a quiet nice pub and enjoy a few beers. Well Corbys Irish pub was the place. For a guy who can count on one hand the amount of beers I have per month. Corby's is my second favorite bar in south bend. Even though it looks like it would hold about 5 people, it is really quite large with plenty of entertainment and an outdoor area which is fabulous in nicer weather. Tuesdays are best day because of their pitcher deals, but I would really recommend Corby's on a game day. The people in the know are there, no one is really obnoxious and you can sit and relax if the Irish sucked (praying for the '08 season!). They also have guiness and leine's on tap, which a definite plus. read more

This is a nice authentic, family owned, Notre Dame bar. Made famous for its role in the movie Rudy, this place is fun to hang out at and enjoy some delicious made in house from scratch pizza. You can watch them make it in their open kitchen if you want, it's actually a fun show and the pizza makers are very friendly and fun to chat up while they make your pizzas. You can order a specialty pizza, or get it by the slice at night. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a fun energetic atmosphere at night. I recommend checking out this place if you are in the area. read more

Diverse neighborhood bar feel with something for everyone. Completely different atmosphere from football season to the summer season, but all is fun! Great place to go with one friend or a large group! No wait staff so at times, it is difficult to get a drink from the bar so order 2 at a time! Rating 5 stars for the service, these 2 creepy guys wouldn't leave my friend and I (both girls) alone and were waiting for us outside of the bar when we left. One of the bouncers Patrick walked us toward our house for at least half a mile before the boys finally stopped following us. Patrick thank you so much for making sure we got home safely. I will never go here again. Went there last Friday night. Bought one Coors Light on draft. Forgot my Id there and paid my TEN dollar tab the next day. Did not leave a tip because I only bought one beer and ten dollars was clearly enough. Then I saw my credit card statement and $13 was charged. Did they fraudulently add $3? Tipping is standard but I should be the person doing it. I will never go here again. $13 dollars for a Coors Light. read more

As someone allergic to smoke, I had to avoid all of the dive bars in South Bend when I lived there. Now, more and more are going smoke free, so when I was in town visiting family and hanging out with friends in town, we decided to give it a go. I was looking forward to having an option where the drinks would cost less than $9 per. The music was too loud for conversation and the DJ was pretty awful. With no drink menu, I figured opting for something I can drink straight was the best decision. They had Rumchata, so I got some on the rocks. Can't screw that up. I live in Chicago now, and I sometimes get that here. It's usually $6-7. I think I may have paid $9 for it once. These were in higher quality places in Chicago, rather than a dive in South Bend. So I was very surprised when the charge was $10. Also, my friend was drinking miller light, the second of which exploded all over our table when she opened it up. Security did bring a towel, but there were no apologies made, and she was still charged for the drink. I probably won't be back. I think they get away with subpar service just because of their reputation as a Notre Dame bar. read more

Corby's is by far the best bar in South Bend. They have the coolest, friendliest employees. No other bar in town can beat their prices. I've always had a good time there. There is always something to do, whether it's flippy cup, beer pong, or bags out on the patio or pool, good music, dancing or just good old fashioned drinking. I really don't understand some of the other reviews on this site. For a safe, fun, enjoyable night in South Bend you can't beat it. read more

I normally enjoy going to Corby's. However, the cook who is a little overweight, decided while he was trying to find the kitchen that it was a good idea to shove me out of the way. Although it was very crowded I was trying to find my way way out of the bar. He proceeded to get in my face so I asked to be kicked out of the bar. Good thing, because that guy ate a woman and nobody even noticed. I hope he finds his way and the bar regains their edible inventory. read more

It'll never be the Cheers before Cheers place it was in the 60's and 70's. When the Golic brothers were around and Tim Zimmerman. We were a family, looked out for each other. Cared for each other. Made sure we had a place to be any night, any time. Tony, Harold, Bruce, Angelo, and the ruggers made it a safe place for the ladies. Yes, we were rude, but hey, no abuse and no groping. And, you couldn't stump the bartenders because we were drinking to be familial not fashionable. A lot of straight ups and on the rocks. And a lot of flamin's. Yukon Jack, Jack Daniels, and Cuervo and Mescal (occasional fights for the worm.) Enjoy the current rendition for what it is, but if you can't walk back to the dorms, It's not Corby's. read more
