The worst dining experience I think i have ever had! We were on our last day of christmas vacation and looking forward to eating at Cora's. We had walked by often and the menu looked great. We were seated quickly and ordered in a slow but reasonable amount of time but then waited more than 90 minutes for our food. The server asked everyone when they ordered, "would you like cream with that? Cheese on that? Onions on that? Ham on that? Etc. not indicating that each thing would be a substantial up charge. 2.95 for shredded cheese or paper thin hard slice of ham. Even though my son did order cheese and we were charged for it, his food had no cheese on it. My 3 kids all ordered Cora's special which was supposed to come with a crepe. Instead 2 orders came with a pancake, while the other came with a crepe. It was also Supposed to come with sausage and did not. When we asked we were told no it doesn't come with sausage. We reviewed the menu and it did say sausage and showed on the photo that it comes with sausage. After pushing the issue, They brought 3 sausage links that were frozen in the middle. My moms eggs had an entire egg shell in it. She couldn't even eat her eggs at All without crunching on shells. We didn't get water or drinks refilled or jam refilled. 2 in our party never even got water at all. When we were almost done they brought a basket of toast which I think was supposed to come with the meals. Would have kept my toddler much happier had they brought that while we were waiting. They acknowledged that it was taking an extremely long time and said it was so busy but the place was half empty by the time we got our food and it was a Monday at noon do I can't imagine that's the busiest. The people next to us who came in after were also complaining about the extremely long wait and ended up getting their food before us. The eggs Benedict I ordered was so tough it couldn't be cut with a knife. The eggs were hard in the middle. The mushrooms tasted slimy and canned. Even though we waited so long, it seemed the food had been sitting a long time. On the other hand my sister felt like her food was cold and undercooked. The worst part was really the wait. We kept asking how much longer and were told she just checked and it will be "up in a minute."She said the same thing every 15 minutes and it was clear that it was untrue. I wish she had just been honest. And we had to find her, physically walk around the restaurant and find her if we needed anything. She didn't check on us hardly at all and seemed irritated but put on a fake smile and almost sarcastic sing song tone. We were there for over 2.5 hours-everyone was hungry and it was our last day and we had limited time to visit the museum and catch our ship so we felt like this experience really spoiled our day. My bill was ridiculously expensive for what we got and I felt like with all our troubles that they really should have done something, even a sincere apology would have been nice. I am not usually the type to be critical and this is the first time ever I have done a review. It was just simply terrible and I'm really disappointed as we were very much looking forward to a good last meal before leaving Victoria. I would warn anyone away from this restaurant who is pulled in by the family friendly looking atmosphere and pretty plated pictures of food and fresh fruit sculptures. It's not worth the wait nor the risk of food borne illness. read more
