Great place: nice garden at the outside patio, really tasty food and prices well-adjusted. Totally worth it.

It's not cheap, but it's simple, clean vegan comfort food. Every day, there is a different soup (like a creamy legume or squash), around six buffet dishes (at least a rice, a seitan, a tofu, and a vegetable), around four different cold salads (a lettuce, a shaved veg like beet or carrot, and a few other creations), various bite-sized bread pieces, and a few additional bready options (maybe garlic or tomato-topped). Tea is free (possibly coffee?--I didn't partake) and there's water for purchase. There are several desserts for purchase as well, like faux cheesecake or mousse lemon square, which we regrettably didn't try until our 5th trip there. The building has a lovely two-story rustic cottage feel, and is bright, clean, and comfortable. Several tourists ventured in, but it felt like a locals fav. The hours are stunted (12p-3p most days), so be aware of that. The workers were nice and could converse in English and, for some reason, I appreciated when I saw them sitting with pals to eat their own food--like we're just joining them for lunch and they, too, know what a treat their restaurant is. The whole place just seemed homey, casual, and honest.

What. A. Find!…read more Padoca is an awesome spot for vegan breakfast, brunch, lunch, lanche, or dinner (early dinner some nights). Not only are the people working there sweet but the food is great too. We stopped in for a weekday brunch and were googley-eyed over the pasty case full of vegan pasteis de nata, croissants, donuts, and other delectable pastries. They have a full menu of torradas, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, franceschina, and more, as well as a build-your-own waffle and crepe station. All plant-based! They also of course have coffee, beer and drinks. We tried a fried mushroom wrap (best dish on the table!!), a seitan and vegan cheese torrada (toasted sandwich), and a seitan and green chili pastry. All were super delicious. But the wrap really blew us away. Crispy fried mushrooms, greens, carrots, fried onions, and mayo inside a soft (crepe? Tortilla?) that was grilled. Served with herbed potato chips. We both had that eyes-rolling-back-in-our-heads expression while chowing down on it. Strong recommend on this dish. Some items aren't available until late morning or noon, like burgers and sandwiches. Yay for super delicious vegan Portuguese food!

Magical experience overall!!!…read more One of the freshest, most energizing, and feel-good meals we've ever had! Yes, it's vegan food, and beyond that it's just amazingly delicious. The love they put into the food is unparalleled--you can truly taste the good vibrations, and most importantly you can feel the nourishment in your body. The meal starts off with an introductory course, something seasonally relevant and refreshing to open up the palette. Then the main course is eclectic, globally inspired, and serves to amplify the experience to the next level. Then the dessert comes next, an artfully crafted cake or scrumptious pudding. You'll never be disappointed here, since they are always shifting the menu options to keep you satisfied and surprised. Definitely support these folks and their food mission! Great people!

The food, well, is quite original... and that's it. The portions are really good and everything is made for you to try something new, to eat enough, to feel at home. But it's not excellent and we wouldn't recommend it for people wanting a subtle feast. It's, and it was for us, a good way of not starving as we are vegan and didn't want to go too far but it's just alright. Nonetheless, you'll spend a good time there with pleasant people in a sweet place!
