    Vegan burgers!
    Justine K.

Came across this vegan spot after a recommendation from a local. Extremely satisfied with the vibe as I unexpectedly stumbled upon a live band playing inside when I came for dinner on Friday night. The food is great- I ordered one of their vegan burgers (there are 4 options) with a side salad and beer. The burger options are chickpea, Lentil, black bean, & soy based. As I'm not much of of beer person I explained to the host what flavors I like and he nailed it- you must try the lager called "common people". Though, I was very disappointed with the service time being that it took 55 minutes to serve me a burger and side salad. After waiting 45 minutes I went up to someone behind the bar and they sent my original guy over who apologized and gave me a complementary beer. Considering this place is in Portugal and service is not the same as the USA I'm giving them a break.. and my guy apologized a few times so it was accepted and appreciated. I'd come back and try more items on the menu. If you do dine here I'd suggest having no set obligations afterwards should it take a while.

This place is a little hole in the wall with elegant taste and atmosphere. The couple are the hosts…read moreand chefs of this homey restaurant. Their dog is the perfect and lovable addition to your fantastic night. Their tasting is seasonal with farm fresh ingredients that harbor heart and passion in every bite. Every dish locks in a flavor that is perfectly balanced with the vegetables paired. The husband/wife duo are such humble people, yet so artistic in their ability to make you feel like the only people at their restaurant in the most scenic and picturesque garden. Their dessert is so hardy and decedent that by the end of their 10-course tasting you leave feeling satisfied and more educated on what it means to be vegan. Definitely come here to dine, you will not be sorry!

One of the better vegetarian tasting menus I've tried. My wife used to be vegetarian for 10 years…read moreso I've been dragged along to a lot of these (mostly in NY - dirt candy, daniel, candle 79, etc). This meal was surprisingly good and also a great value. We did the 9 course tasting menu for €68 Euros. My favorite dishes were the mushroom, caipirinha pie, and the chocolate decadence dishes. They were only able to give us 1 Portuguese Chocolate Cake "Pan de Lo" but that was great because they gave us two chocolate decadence dishes instead were 10x better. I would ask to see if you can get the chocolate decadence or Caipirinha pie instead of the Pao De Lo when getting the 6 or 9 course (maybe even pay a little more). The areas that the meal could be perfected is the tofu dish tasted really good but looked kind of nasty and they should do something else besides the Seitan. Dinner * Mushrooms (Excellent) * Roasted Cheese and Alheira (Great) * Vegetables Millefeuille (Great) * Tofu (Good) * Seitan (Ok) * Green Broth (Excellent) * Grilled Endive (Great) * Chocolate Cake Pan de Lo (Ok) * Caipirnha Pie (Excellent) * Chocolate Decadence (Excellent)

A very beautiful, clean, modern cafe on a street opposite Igreja das Carmelitas…read more When I entered and shared that I had a reservation, which I booked through The Fork, the server who greeted me seemed confused and unsure, and told me that it probably wasn't confirmed by the manager. Fortunately after checking in it further, she was able to give me a table in the back. It took awhile for someone to take my order, and when I ordered a flat white, they informed me the machine was broken, and they only had filtered coffee. Certainly a disappointed but, hey, stuff happens. I figured I'd just get a coffee elsewhere afterwards. I ordered the Wild Eggs, and the dish came out at a reasonable pace. It was tasty, but not the best I've had in Porto so far -- the bread was stale, so the crust was so crunchy and tough that it was hard to chew. It was a good sized portion, though, so I had leftovers to take away. However, no one came back to check on me or to see if I needed the check. The servers seemed busy with other tables, and I can understand, it's a busy, popular restaurant. But I got the sense I was an annoyance, and they couldn't be bothered with me. Which I also get, because tourists aren't super welcomed by locals in Portugal. Though I've felt much more welcomed in other establishments during my stay, so it wasn't very comfortable for me here. The location, atmosphere and food is what kept this from being 2 stars, but given that the prices are on the higher end, it wouldn't be my first choice of places to revisit.

Delicious coffee. Cozy vibe. We got one francesinha "sandwich" with roasted sweet potato to share…read more Delicious sauce and very flavorful chicken, much lighter than the traditional version. Sadly the sweet potato were cut like french fries, but were soggy. If presented as a hash or home fries, I'd probably would have been ok with it. Glad we tried the francesinha though!
