I have had a mostly positive experience so far, about 1.5 years in. It has compared well to other buildings in other neighborhooods I've lived in (Cap Hill, Queen Anne). Maintenance staff are friendly, timely, and helpful. Building admin staff have changed a couple of times, so I won't comment on them. Despite all this, we were just notified that the outlets in the garage do not support EV or PHEV charging. I know there are EVs in the garage that clearly date well before my time here. The building states that it is working towards a solution and has secured a grant. It does not know how many chargers will be installed. The timelines often associated with grant funding and with installing EV chargers in commercial settings (like a large apartment building) are rarely very timely. I am concerned that it took this long for news like this to come out. If vehicles have been charging down there for years, shouldn't someone have checked years ago, not days? Building management is also poor at communicating timelines. This persisted across multiple administrators. I anticipate it will be the same with the chargers. Days turn into weeks, months, and eventually "as soon as possible." Sure, chargers don't impact our safety or all residents, but the garage door not operating or elevators going out of commission certainly do. We knew renovations were ongoing coming into this building, but the timelines communicated for when amenities would be unavailable vs. when they were actually unavailable makes me question why our rent was still going up at the end of our lease last year. I'm still questioning why it's going up 10% when the CPI for primary residence rental cost is closer to 6%. While I'm here, I should mention that I'm not particularly fond of signing a class action waiver to establish tenancy with Greystar. I'm assuming the other named parties in the price-fixing suit are doing the same, but it reeks of guilt. That's less of a comment on this building and more of one on the company. I'll update this review upon the end of my lease, but until then wanted to make sure any prospective renters would know about the charging situation, at least. read more

Three takeaways I want future residents looking at this Greystar property to really consider: 1. How much does security/safety mean to you? 2. If you have issues where management gets involved, are you prepared to spend dozens and dozens of hours fighting and potentially retaining legal help? 3. If you think this is one disgruntled renter, please look up additional review sites and sort by new. Look at all the reviews in just the last month and a half. Catch up: old management company enters discussions to sell property around July '2021. Residents are pretty unhappy but it's mostly with cleanliness, communication and the occasional car/storage locker break-in/package theft. We do understand unfortunately this happens in cities. But then our garage broke 12/26/21 opening up the building to various unrestricted points of access. On 1/28/22 Greystar announces their take over and many of us on day 1 review safety concerns, and current/past issues. By the end of the first week, they've heard from many residents. Enough to validate what we are all saying. Enough that when I asked the new Greystar community manager if he would stay in a building with all these issues, he replied "No, I would not" and followed up with "Let me advocate for you to our leadership". Greystar would follow up asking residents what compensation they would like to see. Only to then follow up denying each and every one of us who asked for 24hr onsite security (just while the garage was broke since threats to safety escalated), lease breaks due to history pre (and post) taking ownership, and parking compensation. Below is the "Luxury Apartment" experience offered here and I truly wish none of this happened. It really broke many of the resident's trust and highlighted what Greystar really cares about. If you still live here, make sure you document and take pictures of EVERYTHING. This was a nightmare come true. Security and safety here have been the worst. Maybe since they just fixed the garage on 3.15.22, after being broke since 12.26.21 (almost 3 months) things will improve. I genuinely hope this helps but we and many of our friends are leaving. As mentioned, Greystar denied our lease break request without a fee on 2/11/22. Many of us started exchanging numbers and grouping together to make a community ask as it felt they were trying to sweep this under a rug. We got help from a friend who had a lawyer and that lawyer helped us craft a letter citing all the documentation a group of us put together and on 3/3/22 as I was going to deliver my letter, we got a phone call approving our request to move, free of charge. Our friends had delivered their letter the night before on 3/2/22. Greystar's regional GM requested an NDA that we politely refused to sign. Picture attached; personal info blocked out. Overall summary since Greystar took over: At least 10-12+ storage lockers in our garage were robbed and reported to management. Cars were also vandalized/broke-in to and at least 1 car window smashed as recently as 3/14 just before they finished repairing the garage. Greystar continues to claim we have a night guard for the garage (up until the garage was fixed on 3.15) but all of the break-ins, drug needles, and vandalism never improved and felt worse. Greystar's response when we would report no guard was outside the garage late into the night: "Thanks for letting us know so we don't pay them." No empathy whatsoever. Multiple occasions of drug needles left in the building after use. Our lobby bathroom destroyed by someone shooting up drugs overnight. Left behind: Drug needles, smashed/shattered mirror for our maintenance team to clean up. There was a bag on the maintenance cart that looked like it had blood and dirty clothes/feces in it that were cleaned up before I came along. Pictures attached of the lobby bathroom mirror. A resident was threatened with a knife after asking if someone lived here that they did not recognize. Greystar responded to residents asking them to stop asking people if they live here. Refunded $300 deposit after some asking. They're keeping my $40 for application fee even though they misrepresented offerings on their site -- Originally review bellow -- Tried to bait and switch lease terms and will not honor short term leases on their site and will not refund application or deposit fees. They explicitly stated they aren't interested in updating their website to reflect current offering. The day after I applied rent prices went up $500 across the board for all their units. Currently they are saying they're keeping my $340 fees and deposit I paid to an ad that would have never been honored. read more

I'm the idiot for resigning my lease. Lesson learned. Neverminded the building being broken into weekly with no security to be seen, but be prepared for packages to be stolen and grocery deliveries to be rummaged through. The latest issue comes with the Management team. My hardwood floors are now starting to split throughout the unit. This was addressed months ago. For months I've been told they'll be repaired/fixed once the flooring comes in. Today I was told, only vacant apartments get the new floors and I'll have to live with my current ones. Sure they're an eyesore and of course they'll tear your socks apartment but GreyStar doesn't care. Just make sure that rent check is on time. There's a high supply of apartments in First Hill. Do yourself the favor and look somewhere else. Learn from my mistake. read more

BEWARE OF SCAM! Now in the process of consulting with an attorney over non-refunded $500 "hold fee" The story-Coppins had a bait listing on Apartments.com of a unit priced listed way lower than the actual cost. After applying and paying for their "hold fee" while the application was in process, they finally informed of the real cost of the unit. I withdrew because I obviously couldn't afford it and called them out on their scam. They assured me that the refund will be processed "immediately". Six weeks of back and forth and dismissive emails from Keith Ponis, the community manager, and I still have not received that refund. Absolute grifters and crooks. Applicants beware! read more

And from what I can see looking at the building from the KeyBank lot from the outside there must be at least 3 of the large corner units available on the NE corner and another 3 or 4 along the East side one with a patio. Today marks the end of our 1.5 yr apartment lease so I thought it'd be appropriate to write a review about my experience at Coppins Well! All the workers here are so friendly and take a genuine interest in helping you (whether it be for repairs, finding a lost package, or having issues with the rent payment portal). The apartment complex is very well maintained and reasonably priced compared to other luxury apartments in the area. A few of my favorite things: - the rooftop has amazing view of the Seattle skyline (which will be even more amazing once the nearby construction is complete and the cranes come down lol) - the Great Room is the perfect kitchen/dining/lounge area for dinner parties! Weekend reservations for this place fill up fast though. - the Guest Room is super convenient for reserving a private suite for your overnight guests. Also, it's cheaper than nearby hotels and is very spacious! - super thick walls/well built units so you are very well insulated from the cold and don't have to be concerned about noise/disrupting your neighbors. A few of my not so favorite things: - only 1 parking spot per unit, and the parking is super expensive ($215)! For additional parking, they recommend parking in the hospital across the street which is equally as expensive and quite inconvenient - half of our $500 deposit was spent on "extra dirty cleaning"...we definitely could have hired professional cleaners for less than $250, but we were told not to worry about cleaning upon move out Despite these two negatives, would still recommend living in Coppins Well for the great service and ambiance! Coming from out of state, my roommate and I signed the lease for this place purely based on the Yelp reviews, and I think our 1.5 year stay here attests to how much we enjoyed Coppins Well. read more

As someone who works from home, my own apartment is only part of what I look for in a residence -- the community areas are where I work out of to keep sanity between home and coffee shop locations. Fast Wi-Fi, natural lighting and open spaces are a necessity for my productivity. I really enjoy that Coppins Well [CW] has not just one but three spaces for me to work out of. [1]The Community Room, [2]The Meeting Room and [3]The Rooftop Garage. The Rooftop is my favorite, it has large work tables and the view is gorgeous, especially at night [see my photo upload]. I am also a dog owner. I have a (take a deep breath) German Shepherd, Border Collie and Australian Shepherd mix. Living in an apartment with a herding dog can be destructive if he doesn't have places to run around and burn off steam. There are gated pet areas on the rooftop and the ground level here at CW. Scraps provides bags to pick up after your furry friends as well. I can't imagine living without these areas any more. Especially during days when I'm busy and do not have time to take him on a long walk or run. I just throw a stick around for 5 minutes while he sprints back and forth with it. Life saver. The concierge and staff is very friendly and helpful, never giving a unpleasing look when they have to buzz me up to my floor because I left without my key card. I also like that there is security on site at night. My unit is great, though this portion of renting is obviously in your own hands, as we all have our different needs and opinions on layouts. The first three things I look for in an apartment is [1]Kitchen [2]Closet/storage space and [3]Large windows. I couldn't be happier with all three. I rarely hear my neighbors -- it's pretty quiet. The location is great as I am walking distance to downtown and the Washington Athletic Club, but I'm not living in downtown where there are always sirens or people yelling on the streets. Every financial institution is within two blocks and there are many good eats and grocery stores close by. Plus, if you ever need to go to the hospital -- you can just log roll across the street to Swedish. Overall, I'm very pleased with CW. read more

Having spent my first two years in Seattle at Coppins Well, I can confidently say that we could not have chosen a better place to live. Some quick takes: -Incredible rooftop with views -Super friendly and attentive staff -Nicely decorated interior (blend of modern and traditional) -Unbeatable location Coppins Well is the ideal place for residents who love to be in the middle of the action and escape from it just as easily. It's a ten minute walk from downtown on one side and Capitol Hill on the other, and yet far enough away that you never really feel the crowds. The interior is beautiful and has plenty of entertainment space, including a meeting room, a large common room that's free to reserve, and a huge rooftop patio with BBQ grills and plentiful seating. But perhaps the best part about Coppins Well is the view. From the rooftop you can see Lake Union, downtown, the Space Needle, virtually every mountain in the surrounding area; and because it sits at the edge of downtown (and the start of Capitol Hill's building height restrictions), there isn't much to obscure the sights from behind either. I loved waking up to panoramic views of the snowcapped Cascades throughout the winter (on the occasional clear day, that is)! And last but not least, I have to give a huge shout-out to building management. Before moving to Seattle I spent four years in Los Angeles, where dealing with renting agencies was a constant battle of mystery charges and crooked leases. I'm pleased to say this was never a problem at Coppins Well. We had a phenomenal relationship with all the folks working here, so much so that by the end of our tenancy we really felt more like neighbors than customers (the way it should be, in my opinion!). On top of that, I've never seen a more attentive staff. Nothing was ever broken down or out of service; everything was consistently clean, functional, and inviting, every day of the year. My husband and I stayed here for 3 months while he was receiving cancer treatment at Swedish Hospital. It was so convenient and a beautiful oasis from hospital life. The roof top deck, communal spaces and staff were all lovely. A bonus was all the 4-legged residents. I would stay here again and whole heartedly recommend it. read more

The move in experience here was certainly very different from our last when in Seattle. Everything was functional and clean in the apartment. Alex scheduled multiple moves this day and all moves timed out well with no overlap. Additionally this part of town has less rif Raf hanging out and around. It is definitely a safer cleaner feeling here. So far, so good. Time will tell it is Seattle. But this place feels good with a good safe clean vibe. read more

We had a pretty unfortunate experience living here. The building itself is very nice & the maintenance staff are wonderful. It's the office staff that made our time at Coppins Well unbearable. They were so nice and helpful up until the day we moved in. In summary, it was bad enough that we moved out after our 10-month lease was up. We were willing to move twice within a span of less than a year to get out of there. Read on if you're considering moving here. Reading through some of the reviews on here, I can't help but think some of them are paid or incentivized in some way. First, the website lists prices for units and says at the bottom that the price listed is for a 12 month lease unless otherwise indicated. I found a unit and called to reserve it, and there was no indication that the price listed was for anything other than 12 months. Anette took a $400 deposit at that time. A week or so later, we get our move-in letter which stated that we would have a 10 month lease. What? I called and they told me if we wanted a 12 month lease it would be ~$300/month more. I had already given them a $400 deposit so I went with it. Looking back, I am pretty sure they do this betting that people are not going to want to move again after only 10 months. Probably increases their renewal rate. So when you're applying for an apartment, make sure to ask what the lease term is before you give them a deposit. Before we moved in Anette told me that she would set up my utilities for me. Those were her exact words - set up for me - and I have it in writing. About a month after moving in, we had not received an electricity bill. I asked Anette if I should call Seattle City Light but she assured me that she had set up my account. Another month goes by, no electricity bill. I asked Anette again, same answer. Then we get our next rent statement and they charged us a $35 utility recovery fee because they had to pay our electricity bill because the account had not been set up. Anette's response was "I sent a fax." If she had told me she just sent a fax, I would have called SCL to follow up. But she told me she set up my account, and I took her word for it. Then they absolutely refused to waive the $35 fee. I know it's only $35 but on principle I felt that they should have taken responsibility for this. So if you're moving in call SCL yourself! They lost 2 of our packages, 1 of which contained a coat worth $250. Again, they refused to take any responsibility for it and looked at us like we were crazy when we asked them to review security footage (apparently the day the package was delivered, the office staff were out on a company picnic so the UPS person left everything outside the office). We ended up having to fill out a police report saying it was stolen in order for UPS/Patagonia to give us our money back. They also lost a set of concert tickets, which miraculously appeared the next day...hmm. We started sending everything to my husband's office after that. They will tell you that they take noise complaints and quiet hours seriously. This is BS. The person in the unit above us started what sounded like working out with very heavy weights. It sounded like they would do a couple reps and drop the weights on the floor, then repeat. It rattled the dishes in our cabinets and shook our furniture. If not for the noise from above I would have thought it was an earthquake every time. This happened over and over, often during quiet hours. I contacted management after several weeks (we thought maybe it would get better but it never did) and Anette's response was pathetic: "They are moving out of state and packing." Like that was an excuse for disturbing our lives, and our sleep? Also it didn't sound like packing - unless they were throwing around 50lb boxes. The entire time we lived there, I only saw the mulch in the ground-floor dog run changed once. When we toured Anette said that they change out the mulch every 6 months. Well, the one on the rooftop was never changed in the 10 months we lived there. Also, no one picks up after their dogs, so there is lots of poo mixed in there. It got to a point that there was only 1 pair of shoes I would wear to the dog runs, those became my poo shoes, because no matter how hard I tried to avoid stepping in poo, it happened at least 75% of the time. So if you have a dog, you can look forward to that, or be one of the a**holes that doesn't pick up after your dog. When our lease renewal letter came, they wanted to increase our rent almost $50/month, even though the one above us (exact same floor plan) was listed online for $300 less. Good thing we had already found something else. There were other annoying things, like the fact that there are only 2 elevators and when someone is moving in or out (aka every weekend) 1 is locked down. And it's supposed to be a "green" building but they have Styrofoam cups in the gym, which are probably the worst thing for the environment they could buy. read more

I moved here from another building at the lower end of First Hill and I don't regret it. The location is great, the building is very nice, and the staff are wonderful. It feels like you're living in a hotel. Unfortunately, as noted in another review, there isn't A/C in the units, however you can rent one for $50/mo from the building - which was a godsend during those several hot weeks last summer. Pricing is average-ish for the area (which means it is not inexpensive), but you get a well-maintained building with very nice amenities, community events, and a secure building. Speaking of security - they have it set to be, um, well, very secure. All the doors downstairs are badged - and the elevator as well. This was recently changed (the front door used to be open during office hours). It's a bit of a burden to have friends over, because even when they can get into the lobby (open doors, or buzzed in) you have to go down to the lobby to retrieve your visitors. Overnight from 2200-0400 there's an on-site courtesy patrol at the front desk. I've never had an occasion to be concerned for safety at Coppins Well, whereas at my previous building there were a lot of homeless around which never bothered anyone, but had a vibe about it. And my bike had been stolen a week before I moved to Coppins Well. The building has events several times a month - from a wine/cheese event, to ski trip to Crystal Mountain. Lindsey sets several of these up each month, and it's nice to be able to meet your neighbors - most everyone is pretty friendly. Many of the residents are professionals - tech industry or medical industry seems to prevail, so it's generally pretty quiet in the building, which is something that I think is of utmost importance. The building is pretty solidly built, concrete floors and what appears to be double sheetrock on the walls between units (double thick sheetrock | stud | double thick sheetrock) which does much to abate noise. Concrete blocks out most of the noise, but physics being physics you can hear some solid noises quite well through it. During the 10 months I've been here I've only had two complaints, and both were noise-related. First one was a family with a small child were literally running and screaming down the hallway (who does that?) with 20 other apartments off of it as if it was okay. Opening the door and reminding them it's quite audible worked for only a day or so. I made comment to the office and they spoke to the residents, however it wasn't until after a few more complaints that it seems the parents got the hint. Can't expect dead silence, but running and screaming down the hallway is a bit nuts. Second time was neighbors - young college kids, three to a 1BR, up until the wee hours blasting games and yelling loud. Office spoke to them, but they didn't get the message until when I was woken up at 3AM one morning that I called the courtesy patrol. Since then they've been dead quiet for the most part overnight - again, can't expect complete dead silence in close proximity to other people, but it's far better than my previous place. CondoInternet (now WaveG) is great - the building is also a green building (LEED SIlver, I think?) and your utility bills will be much lower than you'd think. It does get warm in the summer without A/C (see my note above), but it's not too bad. It is a bummer that for a 17 floor building with ~20 units on each floor or so there's only two elevators - sometimes I've waited many minutes to go down 12 floors (take the stairs!) Parking is $215 for unassigned and $250 for assigned, and there's usually a waiting list. Spots are a little small in places, and it's not uncommon to see a 'compact' car parked in a regular spot and the compact spots left open. You can likely find parking elsewhere for a little cheaper, or you can get a decal from the City's RPZ program and park on the street (decals are $65 for 2 years on a 2 year cycle (2015 was a new 2 year cycle)). Washer and dryer in unit are new front loads. The units have different 'trim levels' the higher you go up (in conjunction with the price of course!). I had nice corian countertops, dark cabinets, and laminate floors. The upper floors get internet included as well. Staff: Tara, Mitch, Lindsey, and Anette are wonderful and a joy to visit with when you're heading out for the day, or coming back in, or picking up a package. Simon on maintenance is also great - quick response to any maintenance requests. The rest of the staff (whose names I do not know - cleaning staff, and other maintenance staff) do a good job and always have a friendly hello. My initial lease was for 10 months, and was cheaper than a 12 month lease. My renewal for 12 months is only $70 more than current, which is a very good deal (rent in Seattle often goes up by much more!). If you want a great location, great staff, and good value for the money (considering the location - it's central to everything) then look no further. read more

I've lived at Coppins Well since the inception of 2014 and am pleased with my decision to move from an older building down the street. The staff is top notch and really makes you feel at home. Usually in a building, there is a tenant or two that you're not a fan of, but (knock on wood), I've yet to notice any negative or creepy tenants! Also, the 3rd floor, which I've rented out twice for small gatherings, is such a great amenity, given I live in a studio. That said, the studio is quite functional, and coming from a 1BR flat, I still feel like the square footage is well purposed. The best part of this building is the rooftop, and it's expansive views of Rainer, the sound, and Lake Union. read more

This has got to be one of the best places to live in Seattle. I was there over one Summer and this place is fantastic in terms of public transport connectivity, proximity to Downtown and grocery shops/restaurants nearby. The rent is on the higher side and I couldn't afford this over a year. But that is to be expected in Seattle these days. The building is very new (its an under-construction site on Google maps). So the apartments are pristine. The fittings are good quality and we never had any problems with the apartment over 3 months. Last but not the least, the staff is awesome! They go out of the way to make you feel comfortable and go out of their way to help you out. Also there's a community event on the premises almost every week if you are one who likes to know their neighbours. read more

I was away when he came so I was delighted to see that it was not only fixed when I returned home, but all of my clothes were hung up as well. TLDR; You get what you pay for. Great staff and amenities. Pros: Beautiful building with a spectacular view. Friendly and accommodating staff that will work with you to make your stay comfortable. Wave G internet capabilities. Thick walls so you don't hear your neighbors! The dog areas are amazing - one on the roof and a large area on the ground floor that is fenced off. (This was great for me taking my dog out at night and still feeling secure.) Cons: No A/C, but typical for Seattle. Parking is expensive $215+ a month for one parking space. There are garage break-ins during the summer time. Bikes are stolen from time to time. Overall: You get what you pay for and yes, living here will not be cheap, but you will enjoy living in a place that provides you with a good experience. read more

Beautiful apartments in the heart of Seattle! Welcoming staff who are always smiling. Great amenities: locked entrance, mailroom w/electronic package notification, gym, rooftop club room w/garage door opening to roof deck with grills, a fenced in pet area and views of Mt.Reiner. Trash/recycling chutes on every floor, and underground parking. Located on First Hill/Cap hill area within walking distance to grocery store, Pharmacy, Hospital, breweries/cidery/bars and a short uber ride almost anywhere! read more

Five stars for quality of the room and amenities; enjoyed a nice upper floor studio for four months in spring/summer of 2014, and had a great time hosting friends in the rooftop hangout area with an awesome city view. Pleasant walkable area not far from downtown or capitol hill spots. The staff were all nice. Truly enjoyed living there! But overall review falls to two stars due to their not honoring the Service Members Civil Relief Act; required me to pay an extra 30-days rent upon leaving after I received active duty PCS (military relocation) orders taking me out of state, despite my being up front and communicating early with them about my circumstances. Unfortunate, possibly bad-faith business practice which I know helped their bottom line but cost me a lot of money and tainted my otherwise pleasant memories of living here. It's possible this was a misunderstanding on their part, and if I had more time and resources to push back and hold them to their legal obligations under SCRA, we might have gotten everything cleared up in a way where I wasn't taken advantage of financially. I write this four years after the fact, which has given me time to reflect and make sure I'm seeing this through a fair-minded lens and, yes I still believe this wasn't the right way for them to do business, but of course too late for me to push back -- my own fault, learn from my mistake and push back hard the moment you suspect you're being taken advantage of in any fashion. I also, upon further reflection, realize they pulled a similarly costly tactic on the front-end of the lease; they required me to start my lease earlier than originally agreed to, and since I'd already made moving arrangements and was counting on that apartment I wasn't in a position to really say no and risk their reneging on the lease. They no doubt were aware of this leverage over me when they pushed me to start the lease sooner than planned, a move which once again helped their bottom line. It's entirely possible these two costly actions were anomalies and not a deliberate pattern of squeezing their tenants. Could have just been bad luck, bad timing, etc. I just don't know, but still leaves me with a sinking feeling that I may have been taken advantage of from a business standpoint. I earnestly hope other tenants will experience all the positives I enjoyed while living there, and hopefully NOT encounter any bad-faith practices at the start or finish of their lease. read more

I lived here with my boyfriend for a year and a half. The staff and building are great. There are some tweaks I would recommend but no particular thing was wrong with the place. It's in a great location near a lot of things to do between downtown Seattle and Capitol Hill. QFC being open 24 hours is great too for whenever you need to shop. Also, get 3 am pizza delivered. The apartments are nice. Wood floors, nice views, and great appliances. We had a one bedroom and laundry room. This was great bc we have 2 cats and they had their own space. So, honestly the space was great. Also, the walls are made of concrete so you don't hear anyone and they don't hear you. You have privacy. Also, the building is equipped with wave G so you can get 1 GIG on your internet. Awesome for gamers. The amenities are awesome! There is a room to rent out for parties, a conference room for studying and a beautiful rooftop with vending machines, fire pit, grilling, and breath taking views. Downstairs they have a fancy coffee machine which is nice. I have a few cons. On the website they advertise about a concierge and they will pick up prescriptions and do random daily tasks. However it's really not the case. They did it once. Then when I asked once again for my prescription to be picked up and I was told they didn't do that. I felt too awkward to ask again. I have an illness and constantly have to go the pharmacy and I thought it was a cool service till I realized it was just on the website. Concierge will help you and is really nice but, they are more of an office assistant. Parking is expensive here. We had 2 cars and you can only get one spot per apartment. So, we paid 215$ for parking in the garage in the apartments. Then parking our 2nd car across the street at the hospital parking garage was $220. If you park on the street you do get a ticket. Also, street parking its hard to find a spot at night. When we were asked to re-lease we were going to but, rent went up $500. The place is nice, so is the staff and the location is hard to beat. But, with these prices we decided we would rather spend our money on other things then parking and life on Capitol Hill. I highly recommend this place it's extremely nice. However, to live in the life of luxury it will cost a pretty penny or two. read more

First, because it has been the most significant difference from ALL of my previous rental experiences, I must start with commending and praising the great individuals that work at Coppins Well. The staff at CW went above and beyond for my Husband and me during a difficult and stressful move-out/move-in situation. Not only were they fantastic for accommodating our oddball situation, but also remain so for ensuring our comfort and satisfaction to this day, whether it be the office staff, maintenance, our concierge Daunte, or even housekeeping. They have all made us feel more comfortable and welcome and generally 'taken care of' than either of us have experienced at any of our previous residences--and I've lived on my own since I was seventeen. Also: the safest, as the security here is pretty fantastic. They are all committed to maintaining the quality, elegance, safety, and beauty of this property in ways I've never seen before, which says something about the pride they all take in their work. Second, the common spaces that are available to us here at CW are unparalleled. The gym is on the second floor (and never bothers us). The Great Room and Coppins Room and terrace are located near our apartment and we have never experienced any 'extra noise' because of the proximity. Unless someone is very close to our door and talking loudly or laughing, I never hear neighbors (who are also very friendly). The walls are nice and insulated and help tremendously in that regard. And the roof? By far one of the most pleasant places in the entire city capable of a 360 degree view (if you get in the dog pen) of the beautiful Cascades, Olympics, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, Puget Sound, Lake Union, Downtown, and beyond. Being on the 18th floor atop First Hill really makes a difference in your perspective of life in the city. It is wonderful to take a bottle of wine and enjoy the sunset by the fireplace up there. Our apartment is everything we need and want and is definitely the nicest space we've inhabited in the city so far. (We came from a building built in 1920.) We have a lot of wall space for my Husband's art and great big windows so we have plenty of natural light during the daytime hours. The smoke-free atmosphere, green-friendliness, and silver LEED rating also make me feel good about the choice to live here, as if all the above didn't win me over to begin with. And all the great animals in the building? This is one of the pet-friendliest places I know of and all the awesome dogs we've 'met' since moving here have quickly made us consider adopting one of our own soon. In short: My friends are tired of hearing me talk about how much I love our apartment and the building and how amazing everyone here is. I loved living here! The apartments are beautiful, excellent amenities, amazing rooftop, the staff here plan awesome events and the staff here are just amazing. What was surprising to me is that the staff are genuinely nice people and not evil at all like most apartment leasing staff. I had to break my lease because I was relocating for my new job. The leasing staff helped me find someone who would be willing to take over my lease rather than just charging me the penalty of breaking my lease. It surprised me that they rather help me than just charge my lease breakage fees, I really do appreciate that. read more

Very clean, nice building! I love my new apartment home. Staff are nice and friendly. Pros: 1. New, for someone like me (especially Dont like old washer/dryer), its perfect! 2. Location is great! If you live alone the McDonald's, potbelly and starbucks down there is quite helpful! 3. Nice Hallway, absolutely no smelly trash room. Someone put trash there sometimes because the pick-up in progress light is kind of long sometime, but it got cleaned out pretty fast. 4. Office staff are nice and friendly and they are willing to solve any problem you have. 5. Concierge/maintenance are fairly experienced. 6. Roof top and common room are fabulous to stay. Cons: 1. comparably speaking, they are quite expensive apartment. I got to choose from here and two at the downtown waterfront and they are actually cheaper than this one. I only chose this one because its closer than my work place and the wood floor (those had carpet on and i sometimes allergy to carpets) 2. Office hour need to be "fixed". As I said, office staff are very nice and friendly. but I do found out they sometimes dont follow the office hour. I think they can certainly got off work earlier or open office later because i do appreciate their work, but they should change that on websites or when they cannot stay late they should put a notice in the building somewhere because I found its quite difficult for me to find them at office hour, especially at the beginning and end of the day. (around 10:00-11:00am on Sundays and 9:00-9:30, 6:00-7:00pm on weekdays. I have go to work at 9:30 and normally back home around 6:00 and sometimes I personally cannot see office staff for the whole week and when i need to see them personally i have to go home earlier. 3. Like Garret said, wall is a little thin. When I moved in i specifically asked about the walls and floors. So far I cannot hear any noise from upstair. But before I was gonna write review against Garret because the fact i did not heard any noises, now i am wrong. When i have neighbors both sides...yes I actually can hear them. but The noise go through the walls are reasonable. Most of the time I can hear it if next door close their cabinet very hard or their guest knock their door hard. But the trouble is the windows. Most of the studios and apartment might share a window(one piece glass in two rooms). The gap between the window and the wall could be very annoying and the fact i can hear my next door have sex 1:00 am in the morning. I dont care if i can heard they talk about what to eat for dinner but not SEX...thats way too much and awkward. But as Garret wrote, the office can do something to your window so the noise is reasonable. Now I dont have to hear those conversation and bed talk, and all i can hear is when they close their windows because we share a glass that just not avoidable. Suggestions 1: I hope they can hire more front desk concierge. Right now we got Eric, super nice friendly and sweet boy there all the time but not Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I hope they can have a part-time concierge there. 2: And also pay more attention to the furniture at the roof top and common room. Seattle rains a lot, and the furnitures left outside at the roof top and common room are too pity to see. They just got washed over and over when it rains, and blow dry with wind or sunshine....I hope they have a cover. 3: Please....Accept credit cards sooner:P Thats all my experience with Coppins Well and I certainly would recommend this building to new guests and renters. Pretty new building and i dont know anyone is moving out so i m not sure about their deposit (As a problem almost every renter has for other places, you never be able to get your "Deposit" back.) But make sure before you move-in, let them do your window lol. read more

We were longtime residents at Coppins Well and loved the original staff in 2014. But constant staff turnover and a change in management tone led to a real decline in service and atmosphere in the front office. The windows which used to be cleaned twice of more a year went untouched for over 15 months in our last years. Mismanagement of the internet services and other parts of the residential experience really deteriorated in the last two years. Concierge service was discontinued in the evenings and package management has also gone south. Cannot recommend this building anymore......... read more

Lived in Coppins Well for the year I was in Seattle for work. The place was always clean and that staff was amazing. Daunte is the nicest concierge ever! If I moved back to Seattle, I would definitely live here again. read more

I had the need for a short term lease and this place is the best. Smoking fast internet, real 80 Mbps download for $60 a month. Walk to great lunch spots. Great meeting rooms hardly ever used, clean, great design, a great spot. Staff is helpful understanding and really flexible and supportive, no matter how many packages I had coming through which was a lot. read more

Management is renting out A/C units on a monthly basis this year and it's made a big difference already. Renting for the summer ends up being slightly cheaper than buying one ourselves (and they handle installation/removal for us). There's been some staff turnover but everyone is still easy to get along with and we haven't had problems. We once again have a concierge working later hours which makes it easy to get packages after 6pm. For a while that wasn't the case, but it's nice to have that perk back. read more

Big shout out to MITCH SONTRA!! I'm currently remodeling my house and, as fate would have it, I stopped into Coppins Well and I noticed the awesome architecture of their fire place. I had no way to take a picture of it at the time. As I was leaving the manager, Mitch, offered to take a picture of the fireplace and email it to me. Who does that!? I found that to be incredibly hospitable (since I don't even live in the building and he's never even seen me before). The following day Mitch kept good on his promise and sent the fireplace photos to my email. He even took the time to take some GOOD PICTURES!!! Again...Who does that!? I've lived here since 2013, not too long after they opened. I came here based on my positive experiences with their sister M Street property for 4 years before. This place has spoiled me for other apartments. The leasing/management team is absolutely professional, personable and very responsive, and the maintenance staff keep the premises in great shape (even with lots of dogs - thank you!). The concierge service and package management is top-notch and a huge help. The spaces are smallish but very well designed, and the rent even this close to downtown is totally comparable to what I found anywhere from West Seattle to Ballard and Bellevue. Parking is a bit high but is more secure than I've been able to find anywhere else. Overall building security is tight and I never worry about leaving for trips at all. From this location I can walk to work and to shopping and entertainment downtown and on Capitol Hill; transit connections are also great. Cab/rideshare rides around town are short and very affordable from this location, too. Zipcar is onsite. With all of the available travel options, I use my car here about twice a month, tops; the only reason I keep my car is because it's paid off. Lastly, the public spaces are comfortable and well-kept - the rooftop gives great views of the water, mountains and fireworks. Group behaviors are managed well enough, which is great since I live close to the greatroom. They do not charge forcommon-space use like other apartments AND put some real effort into hosting tenant activities that are fun (great Superbowl party, Daunte!). My partner and I moved into Coppins Well in October 2012, probably with the first 10% of new tenants. (The building is new construction in 2012.) We came from a huge loft in Pioneer Square and were prepared for rental spaces to be smaller on Capitol or First Hill. We originally moved into a 900 square foot 1-bedroom on the 4th floor, next to the exercise room. As soon as the building began to fill up, we were routinely being woken up by people running on the treadmills and dropping weights on the ground. Management was helpful and worked with us to identify a new unit that was quiet and met our space needs. The building is gorgeous - very stylish touches in the common areas. The rooftop lounge leaves a bit to be desired - it doesn't match well with the rest of the upscale fixtures and decor in the building. Also, there seems to be a lot of younger students moving in, perhaps from SU? Four different "frat-house style" parties over New Year's Even trashed the rooftop clubhouse. These residents tend to be loud in common areas during the weekend. Aside of that, we're pretty happy - mostly because of the staff. Staff would get 4-5 stars (especially Jennifer, Cameron, and Erik); 3 stars overall due to the steep rent + utility fees and a trend of new residents introducing a college dorm atmosphere. I preferred the way it was billed when we moved in: catering to mature urban professionals. read more
