Pure Magic! A coworker with hair I've always admired has been coming to Shannon for a long time, so when I finally asked "who does your hair?"." Shannon" she replied "at Copperhead Salon" which is at the front of an IStudio in Maitland. I arrived on time and the friendliest man, Tony, asked if I'd like something to drink. When I said water and he asked "still or sparkling", little fireworks went off inside my head and a hallelujah chorus swelled in my mind as he handed me an ice cold can of La Croix! They scored major points for having my favorite beverage on hand! Then I met and spoke with Shannon, she was very chill, not super talkative. Very polite, direct and focused. I mentioned a few things my current short coiff was lacking, a few things I prefer and then she gently spun me away from the mirror and went Edward Scissorhands on my head. After she had delicately clipped and buzzed it, she styled my hair and blew it dry. I didn't even see it until she was completely finished. WOW! She turned me around and staring back from the mirror was a version of myself I totally adored!! Now that is how real creative magic happens! Professional, kind and happy atmosphere. I was greeted by a happy, kind face and a hug and when I left I got another hug. I am going through Chemo and was nervous about what to expect with my hair. I brought my wigs. The wigs were styled and cut perfectly with love and care. My real hair was styled before I left. When I'm ready to shave my head, I'll be back to Copperhead. The story you are about to read is true. 12:32 pm. My wife has convinced me to venture into the realm of highlights and lowlights, extensions and design cuts, color and corrective color. Yes my friends, I found myself in a hair salon. Fortunately for me, I'm very comfortable with who I am. Less confidence may have left me a bit more reserve as I had my hair pulled through holes in a plastic cap, toxic goo spread on my head, and left to bake under a hair dryer for about a month. I went to copperhead for a cut and color w chris based on their/his stellar yelp reviews however i was disappointed with my experience. For me, these were the reasons: 1. while the color was being applied, he was really rough parting and pulling my hair. 2. when asked how i wanted it cut, i could tell i wasn't being listened to. it was more about an artist doing his work vs hearing what i, the customer, wanted. 3. drying and styling was similar to the coloring where it was aggressively yanked on. 4. OVER DONE on the product. i couldn't even run my fingers through my hair. it can only be described as "covered with goo" 5. when he finished he announced his completion and that was it. he didn't show me the back or asked me how i feel about it. Again i was left feeling less like a customer and more like a mannequin. 6. checking out also included 7 products laid on the counter and being overly sold to buy them. I don't like being pressured to buy salon products if i never asked to learn more about them. I left Copperhead with a sore scalp and needing to come home and immediately wash my hair just to see what was really going on and if the cut was wearable. so for me, 165 dollars for a cut and color to look like i have pageant hair just isnt worth it. read more

Went back to have my haircut fixed with Chris. Explained that I wasn't thrilled and a bit concerned that the cut was uneven. He saw what I was talking about, saw what my previous stylist was trying to accomplish and said that he'd like to bring it up even more and give me a precise, stacked bob. Mind you my hair came out even shorter than before but it's one of the best cuts of I've ever had. I've received lots of compliments and almost everyone has noticed. If I decide to stick with Copperhead then I most definitely will be sticking with Chris. read more

One of the best wedding decisions I made was to hire Chris Martin, Owner of Copperhead Salon, to do my hair and my bridesmaid's hair for my wedding. Chris brought his supplies and did our hair at the wedding venue. We had a fantastic time! We not only felt like a princess but we looked like one as well! I'd been kind of looking for a new stylist since I'd moved and my new schedule was so hectic I couldn't easily get to my old salon. My appointment was a little over two weeks ago and today I feel exactly like I did when I walked out of the salon... like A million bucks;) Make that a billion. My appointment was with Shannon who is incredible. She is so beautiful and totally down to Earth. My appointment was for color only, but I told Shannon that I was interested in a new look. I have had the same style for several years and I wanted something fresh and updated. She suggested a LOB which I had been thinking about, and then she said she had time if I wanted to go for it. I AM SO HAPPY I DID. The transformation that happened in her chair was incredible. I went from feeling like a boring mom to feeling like a DIVA. But that's not all... I am not someone who spends more that 10 minutes on my hair. I have fine, limp hair. I blow dry it and that is it. Usually, I leave a salon they have dried it and then flat ironed it so it looks even more fine and limp. Occasionally they style it and it looks great, but I can never make it look like that again.Over the last couple of years I have also developed cow licks. The reason I tell you all of this is because Shannon took the time to teach me how to blow dry my hair!!!! I know that may sound silly, especially because I am over 40, but it was huge for me. She showed me how to blow it to work with my cow licks. She also showed me how to soften it around my face, which is super important as you get a bit older. Who knew that with a little instruction I could make it look pretty darn close to the way she made it look. This is a whole new experience for me. I have a modern cut, that looks amazing, that I can actually style in less than 10 minutes. The cut makes my hair appear thicker than it actually is and I LOVE IT!!!! My husband suggested I try Chris after reading that he did Miss America's hair. Apparently my husband was trying to tell me my stylist just wasn't cutting it.
