I came to Leora in a slight panic, with a bunch of scattered ideas of what I wanted, but no clue how to organize them, and no idea what pieces I actually needed. In the span of a 2-hour meeting, Leora had walked me through all the options and helped me decide what I wanted and needed. The proof process was easy and thorough, and my fiancé and I are THRILLED with the end result! We have had compliments from nearly all of our wedding guests about how much they loved our invitations. We were referred to Copper Willow / Jill Velez by a friend whose invitations we loved, and we were genuinely excited to work with her. Throughout most of the process, we acted in good faith. Unfortunately, ongoing delays, communication issues, and later interactions soured the experience. This became THE most stressful part of our wedding planning and each interaction left me emotionally drained. Sharing below a timeline of events for additional context: On April 18, 2025, we had an introductory call while Jill was driving. I stated two non-negotiables (1) no tropical elements and (2) no green-and-white palette, which were reinforced in an email sent May 6. We agreed the project would be completed before July. Jill said on May 8 that we were "on her schedule this week," however the first design did not arrive until May 26 and featured green-and-white palm imagery, contradicting what had been stated. I provided immediate feedback, and Jill requested a call but did not respond until June 1, apologizing and citing her daughter's graduation. A second version arrived on June 6, but Jill required me to make all key design decisions rather than exercising independent design leadership. I created detailed mockups and visual references to move the project forward; they were not implemented. A third version arrived on June 17, accompanied by another apology citing other weddings. Communication then stopped. I sent four follow-ups with no response until June 29, when Jill stated she was on vacation. On June 30, I made one final design request. There was no response after that. On July 24, my fiancé requested a refund, which Jill approved within three hours; We weren't entitled to a refund and appreciated her generosity. However, between October and December, four follow-ups requesting the agreed refund went unanswered. On December 3, Jill then retracted on the refund request and said the project was "left in limbo" because she was waiting on me to call, despite extensive documentation showing outreach on our end. Overall, this experience showed a consistent pattern of missed commitments, delayed communication, and lack of professional accountability. I used Copper Willow Paper Studio for my wedding invites. I found out about them through a calligrapher that I had met. Here's a quick break-down of why I gave them this rating: Quality- Very nice invites, quality paper, ink and letterpress were both impressive. You're probably overpaying and can get something similar at Paper Source or Minted.com. Service - Here's where I have a problem with this place. Everything was dandy up until I gave them my deposit and all of a sudden, all customer service was out the window. I had to bump up my deadline by one week. It took four emails, two voicemails and then a final call to finally get Leora on the phone to change the date. And I think this was by luck. Once I picked up my invites, I was very happy with them. We then proceeded to discuss day-of items. We spent a good amount of time brainstorming and figuring out what was best. I followed-up with two emails to start this job and to give them money. And, surprise, surprise, no response. I ended up doing everything myself for day-of items and kind of wish I would've done the same with my invites. I get they might be busy, but they really need to start paying closer attention to responsiveness and getting back to people in a timely manner, especially when you're spending hundreds of dollars on paper goods. Note - Jill's calligraphy skills are definitely worth the price, she does outstanding work. This was worth it alone for the less the stellar communication I had to put up with. read more

My review is for the letterpress workshop. My wife signed us up for their letterpress workshop for my birthday. It was fantastic! Jill & Leora were super patient with everyone and shared tons of knowledge with us. (Who knew the LA Times was still using letterpress until 1974?!) Let me say this meeting did not inspire confidence. She left us with multiple boxes of invitations she had printed for other costumers and walked out of the room. After about 20 minutes she returned asked us what we liked and didn't like. She didn't offer any suggestions as to how to make them personal for our wedding. She just kept informing us in a very condescending way told us it we be more expensive. 3. I gave Jill a very clear design idea I would like to accomplish during our fist meeting, on which she did not take a single note. I then spent several weeks going back and forth with Jill's incredibly rude emails, again trying to describe what I wanted our wedding invitations to look like. 4. My Husband finally mocked up the invitation I has described to Jill no less than 10 times and emailed it to her and told her to use it. 5. Jill offers no help, suggestions or proof reading to the invitation wording Overall we ended up with nice invitations that we had to fully design ourselves. Honestly for the price and the stress Jill caused my husband and I we should have just gone to one of those generic websites and purchased our invitations there. After three months of trying to obtain viable answers, I finally went full-on squeaky wheel to get my extremely easy invitation job printed. Jill was not having it. Being held accountable is not her thing. Extremely slow, downright unresponsive, and missed deadlines that she herself set to me, which was shocking because in person face-to-face she was such a delight. When held accountable via email, became unbelievably unprofessional and RUDE telling me I was "welcome to go elsewhere" when that threat was never made or inferred by me. Have never experienced such a thing in working with a vendor. Truly shocking and the final straw in a long line of flakiness. Found another fantastic invitation printer who incidentally told me my bid from Copper Willow was so out of market and overpriced. Seriously, people, avoid this company at all costs. Invitations looked great! We got a ton of compliments from our guests about the quality and look of our invitations. Leora was great at capturing what we wanted, and we were very specific. The process was explained well and time frames were as stated. We had a few instances with the calligrapher though where the work wasn't double-checked so we needed some envelopes re-written, luckily we had enough wiggle room and didn't have to buy anything additional, but did need to make a few trips out to their studio. And although April was not the one who ultimately worked with us on our invitations the designer and I believe part owner Leora was also great, always professional and patient even when I couldn't make up my mind. The invitations that we ended up with were not cheap, but nor was the quality, they were very well done and our wedding invitations turned out absolutely beautiful.
