We were referred to Copper Willow / Jill Velez by a friend whose invitations we loved, and we were genuinely excited to work with her. Throughout most of the process, we acted in good faith. Unfortunately, ongoing delays, communication issues, and later interactions soured the experience. This became THE most stressful part of our wedding planning and each interaction left me emotionally drained. Sharing below a timeline of events for additional context: On April 18, 2025, we had an introductory call while Jill was driving. I stated two non-negotiables (1) no tropical elements and (2) no green-and-white palette, which were reinforced in an email sent May 6. We agreed the project would be completed before July. Jill said on May 8 that we were "on her schedule this week," however the first design did not arrive until May 26 and featured green-and-white palm imagery, contradicting what had been stated. I provided immediate feedback, and Jill requested a call but did not respond until June 1, apologizing and citing her daughter's graduation. A second version arrived on June 6, but Jill required me to make all key design decisions rather than exercising independent design leadership. I created detailed mockups and visual references to move the project forward; they were not implemented. A third version arrived on June 17, accompanied by another apology citing other weddings. Communication then stopped. I sent four follow-ups with no response until June 29, when Jill stated she was on vacation. On June 30, I made one final design request. There was no response after that. On July 24, my fiancé requested a refund, which Jill approved within three hours; We weren't entitled to a refund and appreciated her generosity. However, between October and December, four follow-ups requesting the agreed refund went unanswered. On December 3, Jill then retracted on the refund request and said the project was "left in limbo" because she was waiting on me to call, despite extensive documentation showing outreach on our end. Overall, this experience showed a consistent pattern of missed commitments, delayed communication, and lack of professional accountability. I would not recommend Copper Willow to anyone who needs reliable timelines, proactive communication, or a low-stress planning experience. read more

Copper Willow (Jill) does not respect her customers. Not only does she make it difficult to visualize or design your invitations, but she is very slow and rude. See attached email thread in photos. read more

Copper Willow did such an amazing job with the invitations and paper goods for our wedding. They had a beautiful selection of items and spent plenty of time working with us to determine what we were looking for. After another vendor screwed us over, they jumped to the rescue at the last minute and did such an incredible job. They were kind, easy to work with, reasonably priced, and put together a stunning invitation that our guests were unbelievably impressed with. Couldn't have been happier working with them and highly recommend! read more

We came to Megan at Copper Willow in total panic as the person who was working with us on invitations failed us and we were approaching deadline for sending wedding invites. They were wonderful to work with, understanding, provided very timely services, accommodated all the requests, suggested beautiful design and printed invitations very quickly to meet our timelines. Highly recommend! read more

They finished my invitations more quickly than anticipated. I asked to combine a few different invitations she had previously produced and this was no issue. She tweaked my proofs several time and had some feedback. Quality was excellent. I used the Internet for my save the dates and the quality was awful! Made my menus/ escort cards so quickly which helped my last minute wedding stress. Always answered my emails! No complaints & lots of compliments! read more

We loved working with Jill! My soon to be husband didn't like any of the options I presented from the Internet and so he found Copper Willow. We came prepared for our appointment by working on our wording the night before and our appointment was a breeze. Jill had great options to pick from and we found several we liked but found a common theme that was our favorite and Jill helped us expand our theme. She seemed to know exactly what would work for us. The invites came out great and 1/3 of the price of what the Internet options quoted! Can't wait for Jill to help us with our menu and tables cards and more! read more

I used Copper Willow Paper Studio for my wedding invites. I found out about them through a calligrapher that I had met. Here's a quick break-down of why I gave them this rating: Quality- Very nice invites, quality paper, ink and letterpress were both impressive. You're probably overpaying and can get something similar at Paper Source or Minted.com. Service - Here's where I have a problem with this place. Everything was dandy up until I gave them my deposit and all of a sudden, all customer service was out the window. I had to bump up my deadline by one week. It took four emails, two voicemails and then a final call to finally get Leora on the phone to change the date. And I think this was by luck. Once I picked up my invites, I was very happy with them. We then proceeded to discuss day-of items. We spent a good amount of time brainstorming and figuring out what was best. I followed-up with two emails to start this job and to give them money. And, surprise, surprise, no response. I ended up doing everything myself for day-of items and kind of wish I would've done the same with my invites. I get they might be busy, but they really need to start paying closer attention to responsiveness and getting back to people in a timely manner, especially when you're spending hundreds of dollars on paper goods. Note - Jill's calligraphy skills are definitely worth the price, she does outstanding work. This was worth it alone for the less the stellar communication I had to put up with. read more

Sorry, had to reply to this. In no way our communications have even been rude or disrespectful to this business. We never demanded, or talked rudely. Not once. If rudeness is making you fix your own mistakes, I don't know what to tell you. 1. Delivery format was not specified to artist in a clear way 2. All emails from business were written in forms of orders. Without hello or goodbye. 3. From my end, it was the business that was disrespectful and rude and continues to be so. 4. Copper Willow was one and only vendor among many, and they were ONLY ones that we had an issue with. Although we've been very patient to a certain point. 5. User beware. I'm not the only person who posted a comment about them being rude. I think the answer from the business pretty much shows the attitude. read more

Jill helped me create beautiful letterpress save the dates and wedding invitations. I told her exactly what I wanted and she delivered. They were creative, original and expressed me and my husband very well. She also helped me make table numbers, escort cards and party favors, so everything matched. She was very sweet and really listened to what I wanted. We received so many compliments on all of it. I highly recommend her for all your paper needs! read more

I walked into Copper Willow a little over a week ago looking to get my wedding invitations made. I'm a designer by trade, created the invites myself and knew exactly what I wanted. What I was looking for was a quote and approximate turnaround time... The girl at the desk assisting me gets 4ish stars for taking my info and offering good customer service. She told me that the other lady there was busy with another client and that they'd get back to me in the next day or two with a quote. Totally understandable. So... It's been at least 10 days and I've heard nothing. No email. No phone call. Nada. Needless to say, I've taken my business elsewhere as another local company got back to me with a quote and answered all of my questions/concerns within 24 hours. read more

My review is for the letterpress workshop. My wife signed us up for their letterpress workshop for my birthday. It was fantastic! Jill & Leora were super patient with everyone and shared tons of knowledge with us. (Who knew the LA Times was still using letterpress until 1974?!) They were great at helping us design our projects and offered helpful suggestions and insights. I could have stayed all day, printing coasters, if they had let me. Their studio is very charming. The examples of their work are gorgeous. If you're looking for a fun, introductory step in to the world of letterpress, these are the ladies to talk to. And if you're looking for some amazing designs for your next wedding invitation/greeting card/coaster, these are the ladies to talk to. Basically, until you get your own cast-iron letterpress, these are the ladies to talk to. read more

I came to Leora in a slight panic, with a bunch of scattered ideas of what I wanted, but no clue how to organize them, and no idea what pieces I actually needed. In the span of a 2-hour meeting, Leora had walked me through all the options and helped me decide what I wanted and needed. The proof process was easy and thorough, and my fiancé and I are THRILLED with the end result! We have had compliments from nearly all of our wedding guests about how much they loved our invitations. We were also thrilled with the calligraphy on the envelopes (by Jill)...it added a really special touch, and all of our guests appreciated it! I can't wait to have them framed! I would (and will!) recommend Copper Willow to all my friends and family...and really, to anyone who will listen! A++. read more

Copper Willow did such a great job with our wedding invitations! They were very easy to work with, and captured our vision perfectly with our invitations. We would definitely come to Copper Willow again for any other invitations needed. read more

I stopped in here looking for fancy envelopes for interview thank-you letters, thinking that it was a general stationary store. Found out that it is a workshop for elegant wedding invitations and greeting cards. Regardless of this, the lady at the counter was extremely helpful in fulfilling my requests. She put together a large package of custom envelopes for a very modest price! I was very pleased with the service here, and will definitely be coming back for supplies since I frequently like to send good old-fashioned letters to family and friends. read more

I can't say enough good things about Copper Willow and Jill. They did the all of the paper goods for my upcoming wedding - Save the Date card, Invitation, Map, and even a graphic for a canvas tote. My invitations are the prettiest I've ever felt or seen. Jill did a letterpress on an eco friendly, deckle edge paper. I've gotten so many compliments on them! They're really amazing! As for the people at Copper Willow, they're so friendly and helpful! I went back and forth on ideas, and Jill's patience and suggestions were great each time. She's honest, talented, and easy to work with. This was definitely one of the best parts of planning the wedding! read more

I used Copper Willow for my wedding invitations and wedding day-of papers (place cards, menus, programs, signs, table numbers, etc.). The main thing about this business that I can fully say with confidence is that they produce incredibly beautiful QUALITY products. I received such an outpouring of compliments on my invitations. They are easy to work with, and the pricing for the level of quality was very reasonable and 100% worth it. The invitations set such a perfect tone for my wedding and got people excited to come. I am so happy I went to Copper Willow for such an important day in my life! I highly recommend them! read more

Thank you for taking care of my Wife and making her the happiest Bride. The invitations were only surpassed by the day of paper. Every detail was sheer excellence. Your professionalism and quality was evident throughout the process. Honestly I was skeptical in a day and age of online paper suppliers being so much cheaper. You are not the cheapest but you are the best. This is a situation on your wedding day where the saying "you get what you pay for" is not only true but worth the extra investment. Look no further if you want the highest quality paper supplier in the LA area. read more

Let me start by saying the end product is a 4 star product but getting to that point was a challenge at every stage. 1. Getting someone to return phone calls about anything is an absolute nightmare and usually never happens especially after they had our deposit 2. once we were finally in the shop, we met with Jill. Let me say this meeting did not inspire confidence. She left us with multiple boxes of invitations she had printed for other costumers and walked out of the room. After about 20 minutes she returned asked us what we liked and didn't like. She didn't offer any suggestions as to how to make them personal for our wedding. She just kept informing us in a very condescending way told us it we be more expensive. 3. I gave Jill a very clear design idea I would like to accomplish during our fist meeting, on which she did not take a single note. I then spent several weeks going back and forth with Jill's incredibly rude emails, again trying to describe what I wanted our wedding invitations to look like. 4. My Husband finally mocked up the invitation I has described to Jill no less than 10 times and emailed it to her and told her to use it. 5. Jill offers no help, suggestions or proof reading to the invitation wording Overall we ended up with nice invitations that we had to fully design ourselves. Honestly for the price and the stress Jill caused my husband and I we should have just gone to one of those generic websites and purchased our invitations there. It would have saved me countless hours of worry and I would have been treated with A LOT more respect. read more

As an owner of two businesses, I'm left dumbfounded at how Copper Willow is still in business. After three months of trying to obtain viable answers, I finally went full-on squeaky wheel to get my extremely easy invitation job printed. Jill was not having it. Being held accountable is not her thing. Extremely slow, downright unresponsive, and missed deadlines that she herself set to me, which was shocking because in person face-to-face she was such a delight. When held accountable via email, became unbelievably unprofessional and RUDE telling me I was "welcome to go elsewhere" when that threat was never made or inferred by me. Have never experienced such a thing in working with a vendor. Truly shocking and the final straw in a long line of flakiness. Found another fantastic invitation printer who incidentally told me my bid from Copper Willow was so out of market and overpriced. Seriously, people, avoid this company at all costs. Certainly avoid working with Jill, because, yikes. read more

Invitations looked great! We got a ton of compliments from our guests about the quality and look of our invitations. Leora was great at capturing what we wanted, and we were very specific. The process was explained well and time frames were as stated. We had a few instances with the calligrapher though where the work wasn't double-checked so we needed some envelopes re-written, luckily we had enough wiggle room and didn't have to buy anything additional, but did need to make a few trips out to their studio. All-in-all a great product and friendly staff. Definitely recommended. read more

I had my wedding invitations for my May 30th wedding made at Copper Willow and they were beautiful! My friend and I took one of their introductory letterpress workshops. It was such a blast! Jill and Leora were both so knowledgeable and patient. Our class ran a couple hours long and but they kept us going until everyone had several dozen beautifully printed pieces done. Absolutely worth a visit just to browse but even better to buy and/or take a class. read more

Have you ever gone to a nice card shop to by a card and pay $4 and up for that card that is clearly a mass produced card? Well at Copper Willow the LETTERPRESS (yeah that means not only unique but expensive to produce because each one is done by HAND) cards are $4.50! Their specialty is custom invitations and announcements however they have a number of clever ideas on display wine glass tags art work and cards to name a few. I will be going back not only for high end business cards that are sure to turn heads (first impressions are so important) and also for custom welcome cards and gift tags for attendees to my Executive Wellness and Leadership Retreats. read more

Jill and her team of rock stars did such a beautiful job on my wedding papers (invites, response cards, table numbers, place cards, menus, and escort cards). Although slightly hesitant to come here after reading a review, my Fiancé and I found the sales girl April to be extremely pleasant and helpful. And although April was not the one who ultimately worked with us on our invitations the designer and I believe part owner Leora was also great, always professional and patient even when I couldn't make up my mind. The invitations that we ended up with were not cheap, but nor was the quality, they were very well done and our wedding invitations turned out absolutely beautiful. We ended up ordering, name cards, and had our Vows printed on the same paper for keepsakes. They did a fantastic job, and we received so many compliments on them, it was fun. We will definitely go back. read more

For something as important as my wedding I knew that I wanted custom invitations to set the mood. I worked with Megan to build my invitation suite and wedding day papers and she did an incredible job!! I was amazed at how she was able to figure out what I wanted when I didn't even really know myself. During our consultation she helped my and my husband explore different options and samples from their extensive portfolio, and when she showed us the final proof it was exactly what we had hoped for. And when we picked up the final product, I was blown away!!! The quality of the letterpress printing was outstanding! And they have a calligrapher in house the provided beautiful custom work for the design. Copper Willow does it all! I highly recommend their studio for gorgeous custom wedding papers. I found out about Copper Willow when I read about them in IN STYLE magazine. Highly recommend them! Also, Jill (one of the owners) does amazing calligraphy. read more

I ordered my wedding invitations today at Copper Willow and it was a wonderful experience. Leora was amazing, we went in not having a clue what we wanted and left with everything perfectly planned. I called this studio twice. the first time I thought that one of the owners was very rude so I didn't book an appointment. We went to another store and looked and invitations. We didn't like them so I decided to call Copper Willow back and give them another chance. I called and again I thought they were very rude. Both times I called, I was hung up on after they realized they weren't getting my business. literally hung up on. Finding Jill at Copper Willow was one of the best discoveries I've made in my three years of living in LA. As a small business owner, I wanted to support a small stationery store vs. going to a big name brand like Papyrus or William Arthur for our wedding paper needs. From our initial meeting to the final completion of our invitations, Jill was nothing but awesome to work with. She's super professional but also warm, friendly and enthusiastic about every element of the design creation. I keep getting compliments via email and text of people saying our wedding invitations are the most beautiful they've ever seen (and we are in our 30s so our friends have been to their fair share of weddings)! I hope our wedding day will be remembered for years, as these invites will be. We couldn't have been happier with the quality, professionalism, beauty of the final product and just how enjoyable the whole process was for designing our wedding papers with Copper Willow! We chose Copper Willow and worked with Megan from the beginning. Megan was absolutely wonderful! For our Save the Date they were able to create exactly what we had in mind even though we had never seen anything like it before - their imagination, willingness to work with the customer, and ability to produce the customer's vision is remarkable. However, it was with our invitations that we were truly blown away. I sent Megan a picture from a magazine of an invitation to give her an idea of what we were thinking and she was able to run with it, incorporate our colors, make it 10 times more beautiful and return a draft within a matter of days that was 99% perfect! It was unbelievable. The only changes we made were to the content. It couldn't have been easier and the final product was the most gorgeous thing we've seen! The compliments still haven't stopped and it's been 3 months since the wedding. We've also used Copper Willow for our business cards and will surely be going back to them for all of our stationary needs, even though we live in Miami and they are located in Los Angeles. The distance was never a problem and nearly all of our planning and designing was done via email. They are very professional, very fun to work with, and truly know how to deliver.
