Crazy!!!!! I just had one of those Christmas morning feelings and it's June! While we were out…read moredoing maintenance on our lawn, which we are meticulous about, a Moon Valley truck that was in the neighborhood stopped by and approached my husband. The regional arborist for Moon Valley Nick Debs was driving around checking on the health of some clients recently planted trees when he noticed our "charlie brown tree". He recognized it as one of Moon Valleys which we had planted three years ago along with a package of other trees and shrubs. For some Reason this tree just never took off. We knew our lot was all true hard calici just beneath the surface but this Monterey oak just won't grow much less thrive like our other plants. So back to Christmas morning -Nick grabs his 20/20/20 super food wand that remind me of a ghost buster tool and directly inserts it around our trees as a seven course meal for not just the Charlie Brown tree but ALL our trees. Of course I took the time to receive some excellent wisdom from an arborist to understand what we needed to do to elevate our tall green friends to the next level. We were really almost speechless with this gift and I actually prayed a prayer of thanksgiving for sending someone who actually cared about trees. As if all that wasn't enough neighborly love, he handed us some fertilizer to continue a regimen to help with the health of all our trees. The good kind from Moon Valley with all the rich minerals and organic material that makes plants happy! I felt like when my kids who had been sad we were leaving Disneyworld were surprised with a "Magic Moment" by one of the bakers near the exit to the park. Totally unexpected. Totally appreciated. Totally exceptional! Thank you specifically to Nick Debs with Moon Valley who reminded me there is true knowledge and compassion behind the company with the big trees. Say what you might about the price tag on the super Giant trees but it takes a lot of wisdom, time in years and a super green thumb to grow trees that big. Now I know there are employees with a big heart too.

I really appreciated that they grow their own plants and trees. The staff was incredibly kind, patient, and happy to answer all of my questions without making me feel pressured. Ashley was especially wonderful and made my visit a great experience. Because of the excellent customer service and welcoming atmosphere, I'll definitely be coming back to buy my plants and trees here. Highly recommend!

She was either on her phone or using it to look up the questions I had about a few plants they had. Either way, off putting and completely useless. Also (for those looking): They also do not grow/stock veggie starters or any herbs really. Very minimal and overpriced selection of old, basic Texas yard plants and a dusty little succulent and houseplant tent. This was the third time I have been here in 2 years and nothing has changed for the better. Not worth it, I do not recommend this place and I won't be back.

Since the Natural Gardener had to quit selling bulk soil, I've been looking for a new place…read more Gardenville has a number of choices and all at a decent price. They sell everything from fill soil to compost to rocks. My first problem is that my truck is just a 90's mini truck. They don't sell soil by the half yard. I tried putting a yard of their Superior Soil in my truck and about a half yard in, the truck couldn't take any more. The guy was cool enough to stop filling the truck and he charged for about a half yard. Would be nice if I could just get a half yard. My second problem is that their products aren't exactly the greatest. The Superior Soil was acceptable I suppose. I'm used to getting Revitalizer from Natural Gardener, and Gardenville's Superior comes up short in comparison. They did have a decent deal recently on shredded mulch and the mulch was fine. The location has been paring down their offerings. They had a crazy sale to liquidate all of their pots. Now they're selling all of their tools. Not sure if they're focusing on the bulk business or what.

I didn't, having never done so for any other Living Social deal, but this location of Garden-Ville doesn't "have the scanners and equipment to redeem" from a smart phone. To which I said, "Well, I wish you'd have mentioned that when I called half an hour ago." You shouldn't even need such equipment - the employee just didn't know what to do. So I drove home empty-handed, having wasted an hour (and 30 miles). I'd just hoped for a nice drive and to check out a different garden shop. But this place isn't a garden shop, it's only really set up for dealing with contractors and wholesale operations, not individuals. Again, I wish their web page or the LivingSocial deal had made that clear. So, 1-star experience. However, the price list looks promising. And the just-learned fact that Garden-Ville is the composting and recycling component of Texas Disposal Systems is redeeming.

The gentleman we initially met at their yard gave a tour of all the trees in his golf cart, asked us several questions about what we were replacing, and what we thought we would like to replace it with. He stopped frequently to identify the different trees, provide all the pros and cons of each variety, whether they were particularly suitable for where we live, etc. We didn't feel rushed, he was exceptionally pleasant, and was happy to answer all our questions. When we decided what type of tree we wanted, we were handed a flag, picked out the exact tree we liked best, and they delivered it in a matter of days. Their crew was friendly and efficient, and for a reasonable fee, cut down and removed the dead tree. They were finished in no time, and left the yard looking better than when they arrived. They only asked for payment when the old tree was gone, the new tree was planted, staked, watered, and we were 100% satisfied with their work. I really didn't think this level of customer service existed anymore. Go see them. You won't regret it.
