PLEASE READ IF CONSIDERING DREAMCATCHER MEADOWS FOR YOUR WEDDING…read more I'd like to start this review by saying that the venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and deserves 5 stars. However, this review is about the service provider who we had a lot of difficulty with after the wedding (and potentially before if our wedding planner hadn't taken over communication on our behalf). The day after our wedding, Jill sent my MIL (who had offered to cover the cost of extra rentals) an invoice for $3,166. In her email, she told my MIL that it was very generous of her to cover "the outstanding invoice and last-minute rentals". Just to clarify, there was no outstanding amount left for the venue rental fee (we paid it in full BEFORE the wedding) and the "last minute rentals" were all items we'd discussed 2 weeks before the event. I emailed Jill with some questions. Just to be clear, I never said to Jill that we didn't want to pay (on the contrary, she'd already charged my MIL's card without giving us a chance to review the invoice so not paying was out of the question). We simply wanted clarification on the items listed in the invoice. Unfortunately, all we got in return was a long emotional diatribe about how happy everyone was, how many last minute requests they accommodated and how we left decisions until the day of which caused unnecessary panic (still don't know who was panicking and why since we'd discussed everything ahead of time). None of the above items were addressed in her email except for one. Not only that, there were accusations in the email against us which were blatant lies (we have documentation to prove everything). Among them: - Jill was unable to take a damage deposit as she apparently didn't have a credit card on file. That's not true since the contract had a specific section that clearly stated the credit card information being provided was for a damage deposit (which we completed and sent back to her). If she didn't this information, why didn't she simply tell us instead of bringing it up on the day of the wedding? - We were accused (several times) of not sending her a list of rentals 7 days before the wedding. However, our wedding planner sent us a copy of the email she sent Jill 14 days before the wedding which clearly stated which rentals we required. The final straw was when she called my MIL and told her she no longer wanted to communicate with me and my husband. We, the clients, who signed the contract and paid $6,000 to use the venue are no longer welcome to contact her and try to get clarification on the items my MIL paid for. In addition to all of this, please be aware that we often felt like Jill's main objective was to promote her business. - She asked my MIL if we would put HER business's logo on OUR wedding favors - what kind of vendor asks a couple to put their logo on wedding favors?! We're not there to provide free advertising! - Jill also pushed us to write a review before the wedding. Again, who expects a review before goods/services are actually provided?! - After all this mess, she still had the audacity to tell us she would be majorly disappointed if we're not willing to share our pictures with her. She even asked our videographer for pictures! Just because we used her venue for our wedding, doesn't mean she owns the wedding now...we're not obliged to provide her with any pictures or videos nor was it stated in the contract. She shouldn't be reaching out to our other vendors to acquire goods that she has no right to. In a nutshell, the venue is gorgeous. John is very easy-going, helpful and a pleasure to work with. However, beware before signing a contract that communication with Jill will tough. We spent our honeymoon dealing with Jill and the invoice she sent my MIL all because we asked a few questions (which remain unanswered) If you decide to have your wedding here, please make sure you write every single thing down. Don't let Jill push you into writing a review BEFORE your wedding and don't feel obliged to let her take pictures. It's YOUR wedding. YOU decide who takes pictures and YOU decide what you want to share. Four of us were ranging from beginner to semi-experienced riders and Jim made it easy for us, and the river trail with the gorgeous valley views was awesome. A big thank you to you, Jim, for your "Stetson" advice ! We'll be back for a longer ride soon, even though the 1 hour ride turned out to run a little longer...we were in no hurry and all five seemed to enjoy each other's company. Magic.

Jim and Vinny were super chill and up for heading out to the river. They asked me if I'd ridden horses before. Which, I have, half a dozen times or so. They saddled up Shade for me and off we went. :D He tried to walk into some low branches at first to test me! Lol. But, fortunately I'm intelligent and experienced enough to know you can steer a horse. After that he was pretty good. We crossed 2 small arms of the river, turquoise water! Then came out to see the river valley like something out of a wizard book! So coool! Mountains and waterfalls, forest and river! Very surreal. It was sometimes a narrow forest trail with some reasonably shallow crossings. Shade did try to test me again. So, having confidence and at least a bit of practical experience riding smart horses in varied terrain made it fun and exciting. If you are a super beginner, it may not be for you. But, anyone who loves amazing scenery and actually knows how to ride a horse would have the time of their life for sure! So close to the city, yet felt a world away. Thanks Jim, Vinny, Shade and T-Bone! (The coolest cowboy dog ever) see you again soon! Rich.

During our off-road buggy tour those days came flooding back to me as there were many times that we found ourselves eating the dirt of those riding with us (which didn't subtract from our enjoyment of freely roaming the Canadian wilderness even a little bit). I couldn't keep myself from loudly expressing my excitement just like a kid enjoying a roller coaster for the first time. I think Dana may have laughed the entirety of the ride and for the longest time I kept thinking to myself, "Wow, I am unusually funny today because she just can't seem to stop laughing. I should probably write this material down!" (It took me longer than I'd care to admit, but I eventually realized that Dana was laughing because she was having so much fun off-roading and not because my comedic material was all that good. ) Joan served as our jovial tour guide and did a great job with the safety orientation before we left, provided excellent instruction about how to safely navigate each section of the course, and timed our river crossing perfectly for the end of our ride (since we happily got drenched!). The course itself was always engaging, provided some spectacular vantage points, and included a great variation of sections to test your technical skills and also give you an opportunity to open up that throttle (at times exceeding speeds of 60 kph). If this were a hiking trail I'd rate it as moderate in difficulty, so be aware you will be jostled around quite a bit and you will likely feel just a tad sore the next day as you're describing your adventure to others with a smile that you're unable to wipe off your face. While the course presents a worthy challenge, the buggies they provide are well suited for the task (and an excellent helmet and goggles are provided to all adventurers). In keeping with Canadian tradition, we were careful to pack an "Oh Henry!" bar as part of our emergency rations. And that's...Henry's Take. #eatmydirt Photo Credit @danavoros
