    Matcha Latte

It is not often at all that I throw away a $8 drink after a few sips... but I did with this drink and it broke my heart. I am a huge matcha enthusiast and I knew that Copa Vida wouldn't give me that bold matcha flavor that I craved but I caved in and gave it a try. I made sure to ask for *double* matcha and it still tasted like MILK. It was so bland and milky I'm surprised it was even green.

Very aesthetic coffee shop smack in the middle of Sixth College with some tables indoor, but plenty of outdoor seating. Tried a couple drinks from here at this point including the Garden of Eden Iced Tea, Iced Matcha Latte, and Iced Honey Latte. I personally thought the coffee was okay and I couldn't taste the honey at all, but my knowledge about coffee is pretty limited in general. Their tea is pretty solid and I love that they always ask you to specify your milk option and even sweetener (agave, simple syrup, or honey). I do wish the tea flavor was a tad more pronounced in the Garden of Eden. Price is ranges from five to six dollars for most of their drinks, which is a tad pricey for the cup size, but not unexpected. Copa Vida also has a small food menu with breakfast burritos, bowls, salads, and more. I tried their Kimchi Pork Belly Sandwich and it was delicious; the pork belly was so tender it literally melted in my mouth! However, at least for that specific menu item, the portions were rather small considering it cost over eleven bucks. Overall, solid place on campus for a drink and do a coffee chat. Enjoyed everything, but was just a bit too pricey. Also, quick tip, half your cup will be just ice cubes if you don't say anything and it'll be omega not worth it. Note for those looking for a new place to study on campus: unfortunately, they do not have any outlets :(

I attended a conference all week and found myself returning to this shop frequently, as it was the only place open and significantly better than what was being served at our event. Despite being somewhat overpriced, many of my colleagues and I visited each morning, largely due to the exceptionally friendly staff, who were remarkably cheerful despite the early hour. The shop was very clean, with ample seating outside. Contrary to some previous reviews claiming it was dirty, we found it spotless. The ambiance was inviting, making it an excellent spot for a quick breakfast or coffee break. I highly recommend this place if you are on the UCSD campus. The combination of friendly service, cleanliness, and a pleasant atmosphere makes it a standout choice among campus eateries.

This review is for visitors of patients dining in the Colors Cafe on Floor 1 (not for admitted…read morepatients). I had to be in Scripps Green for 3 weeks so I have experienced this cafeteria at all times of the day 7 days a week. As a smaller hospital I can understand the smaller cafeteria. However the options and availability of the food is pretty limited. While the food is fair with few hot dish items the salad bar is decent. The hot dishes consist of pizza, burgers, melts, soups, chicken tenders and then some featured main dish which always looks like it's over cooked sitting in liquid to keep it warm in the trays. Pretty much every day they have chicken teriyaki and rice for some reason. The best meals I have had from this cafeteria have by far been the breakfast. You can't really mess up bacon, eggs and pancakes I guess. Although go ahead and skip the french toast, as it is way over fried and crispy. They have pre made sandwiches and salads in the refrigerator cases. Bottles beverages, fountain drinks, coffee, ice cream, chips, cookies and more small sweets. They generally charge by weight for self serve buffett style hot dishes and salads. They really nickel and dime you on some things like charging for butter, ice and creamer. Other packaged items are scanned with a retail price. The staff is hit and miss. Some are nice and friendly while others are just slapping food around the griddle. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Outside is so nice with the views of Torrey Pines Golf Course and the ocean in the distance. Here's the main gripe. They barely have any options and they don't have keep the menu available for the entire time they are open. On weekdays they say they close at 8pm but stop cooking at 7pm. So nothing is replenished after 7pm. If you go down at 7:30pm you get what ever is left over. And that can be just a slice of pizza or a leftover burger wrapped in plastic. On this weekend they close at 6:30pm and they were dumping the food trays at 5pm!! A whole hour and a half before the posted closing time. All that is left was chicken tender and a picked thru salad bar. The only real option was packaged sandwiches from the fridge. Not fresh food. I find this very disappointing being at a hospital where you would think they would be promoting healthy options. Also twice they have locked us out on the patio dining area, without warning. They locked the doors from the inside while we were eating outside a half hour before closing time. They would have seen us out there eating but still locked it. We had to walk all the way around the hospital to get back inside. They simply could have opened the door and said we are closing this section up early or something. Completely ride and inconsiderate. The location of Scripps Green offers no other options in walking distance so you are basically stuck with the cafeteria as your only option. There is a Hilton if you trek down the street a ways. They really need to broaden the menu and keep it available for patrons ALL THE WAY TILL CLOSING TIME. People are already under stress when visiting here, is it too much to ask to have food available when you're "open".

The View? 5 The Service? 4…read moreThe Food? 3 Let's be honest here - I needed a good digital nomad seat to complete some work, make some calls, and get outside. Cliff Hanger Cafe provided all of that. While not necessarily quiet due to the large crowds that gather to say OMG I'd never do something like that, that's crazy, as they watch paragliders soar along the cliffs and those waiting for their tandems. But come early enough, on a weekday, with meh weather? Still better than sitting in an office~! The food was less expensive than I thought it would be - reasonable actually for something that is pulled from a cooler and tossed onto a grill with little effort behind the makeshift kitchen. Orders are a bit hard to hear, but damnit - why did it have to be okay tasting?! I thought for sure it would be the worst - but a solid three out of five. Will I be back? Yep. Order food? Yep. Coffee? Nope. We could still use some work there.

I was again concerned that we were walking into another a dud and lo and behold the man outdid himself! This was not the experience I expected and I was so pleased with the Cliff Hanger Cafe! Not only was my food great, but the views and watching experience was out of this world. I had never seen or heard of a glider port and am so glad that I got to experience it (way to go hubby). While enjoying a beverage and sandwich, we were able to watch gliders starting/stopping and of course gliding. Amazing to see how it is done and the view from the cliff is poetic. Not to mention you are right next to Torrey Pines (WHAT). La Jolla in the distance, the vast ocean, a meal and watching gliders start and land, yep a very fulfilling morning! Only downside, port-a-potty's! But I would do it again for the experience!
