Popped in here for a spot of lunch on a sunny Thursday afternoon. With it being such a nice day, we…read moredecided to sit outside to enjoy the sun. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough chairs so we had to ask inside to borrow some. Also, the majority of the tables outside hadn't been cleared with dirty cups and plates still left out. We ordered a sandwich and a toastie from the lunchtime menu, which took ages to arrive (at least 30 minutes, far too long for just a sandwich). The food itself was OK. This cafe has so much potential, so it was a shame to have such a poor experience on this visit. My feedback to the management would be, - Get a sign put up on the building with the cafe name on it. - Create a website with all the menu options on it. - Offer free WiFi to customers. - Provide more outdoor seating. - On our visit the staff looked stressed and unable to keep up with the pace of orders. It felt like a kitchen manager was needed to give then some direction/leadership.

I reviewed the café in Rothwell Park before it changed owner and name and, having been told how…read moremuch better it had got I decided to pay a return visit. My first impression was that the place does look better although it was a bit messy the day I visited and sadly they store a big jumble of summer stuff in an alcove next to the dining area through the winter months which doesn't look good. The food is ok but won't win any prizes and the coffee is pretty standard. All this wouldn't matter too much as this is a handy place to get refreshments whilst visiting the park but for some reason they feel justified in charging city centre prices for a fairly bland café experience. It's good to see that the Pavillion is working, with some considerable success, to be an integral part of the community, they do special festive meals and they are dog friendly (which is a real plus for any park establishment).

Now size isn't normally an issue for me but at the corner house it's as though a much smaller cafe has been transplanted into this enormous space and it seems kind of lost. The area behind the counter is bigger than most cafes. I've actually visited a few times and kept meaning to write a review mainly slating the coffee but now that I've got round to writing i see that they are offering cafetieres so the coffee may well have improved. This time I needed food so I chose a hot beef sandwich with onion. The sandwich was indeed hot and most assuredly beefy in the extreme but i did find it a little low on onion. my mug of tea was splendid (so who cares about the coffee) and the prices were jolly reasonable. The staff here are rather friendly and within moments of sitting down I was being asked to help put up a banner announcing the cafe's first anniversary (28th November) where, I was told, there will be a bit of a party and sandwiches will start from £1

Just had a large bacon and egg to take away, and to my disappointment, when I got home I opened up…read morethe sandwich to find only one egg and three rashers of bacon, which barely covered the bread cake. Don't get me wrong, the bread was delicious and soft, the bacon was nice and thick and cooked to my liking but when a man's hungry, wants a large, orders a large and expects a large, it's disheartening to find he only has a large bread cake :-( I would recommend eating there, the staff are polite and friendly and the food was good, just not enough for this hungry man. Recommendation: just order a normal size.
