I found several favorable reviews about Sonny D's and started there. The reviews were wrong - they said Sonny's was good. He is much better than good. Two areas stand out; First he is an excellent mechanic. When he works on your vehicle he acts as if it is his vehicle. If there is something about your vehicle it is fixed, repaired, replaced. Stuff gets done and done well. Secondly - he is honest. There is no pumping up a repair or bill inflating. Sonny will give you an honest estimate and do his best to stay within it. Many times the bill will come in at less than his estimate. As far as 'm concerned I'll pay whatever he proposes. He also treats his customers with respect. It's almost a cliche that women know little about automotive things so0 I was an interested spectator while Sonny explained the repair he was doing to a person until there was satisfaction about the problem. One last item; I had a failure of the exhaust system on my Camry. Sonny diagnosed the problem in about 20 seconds. As a matter or interest I went to a nearby Toyota agency. They had a two tier price for a new system. Top dollar was about $1200.00 and change. They also suggested an "aftermarket" assembly for $700.00 and change. Sonny had estimated $300.00 and change. That's what it came in for! SO; if you want an excellent and honest auto repair, try Sonny D's.

A coworker who gave me a ride to get my car asked about a tune up on his Benz. Jerry refused as the car had 85,000 miles and no tune up is needed till 100,000 miles. Impressive. Not a big deal, but it should have been a warning sign. 3rd time I went for a simple thermostat, and the next morning I spot a river of oil beneath my car. The neighboring oil cooler was clearly damaged during Jerry's thermostat job. The man honestly expected me to believe that the oil cooler failed the moment I left his lot, and that the 2 jobs had anything to do with eachother. I'm a reasonable person, and would have been fine with covering the cost of parts, but for Jerry to also profit from his blatant mistake and charge me labor is flat out disgusting. Grand total I ended up paying $900 for a $40 thermostat. I get the impression that Jerry was once a great mechanic, but has clearly gotten careless in his old age. Not only are his repairs sloppy, but his shop, office, and lot are disgusting. It smells of chain smoking and the lot is so crammed with abandoned cars that you can barely navigate the lot. This guy doesn't care about his work, and he definitely doesn't care about your business. Please go elsewhere.
