Because of this, I was using Visiting Angels as a care provider to help me around the house once per week. This helped lighten my load a little bit during trying times. Visiting Angels had been helping me since early August of 2024. In mid-October of 2024, I got a call out of the blue from Lydia in the Oshkosh office saying that they were going to discontinue my care because I wasn't doing enough visits per week. I explained to Lydia that I only had so many visits allowed through insurance to get me through to the end of the year. For that reason, I was only willing to do one visit per week. According to Lydia, their minimum was one visit per week. Therefore, I didn't see an issue with this. That's what I was already getting. Lydia pressed to get me to do at least two visits per week. I refused. We ended the call as she was going to do some additional checking on her end. The next day, I received a voicemail from Lydia stating that they were going to discontinue my care because I was not reaching their minimum. I find this absolutely insane, because they had been caring for me since August. It seemed like just a bullying tactic to get more visits and more money out of me. Though the caregivers were always kind, respectful, and caring, I find these extortion tactics from their office to be absolutely disgusting. And to just end my care with a cold, uncaring voicemail is pretty cruel. Visiting Angels? More like NON-visiting DEMONS if you ask me. Steer clear!

Our mother took a precipitous drop in her health two weeks ago. We contacted the HCA office as one of the providers we would consider for her hospice care. When we met with Alyse to both interview her and get a feel for how the organization does business, we were unanimous that HCA was the care provider we wanted for our mother. The office and in person experience was excellent. As to communication and care, I cannot say enough about the professionalism, compassion and consideration of both Alyse and our caregiver, Melissa. In the midst of a very difficult time and circumstance, they both elevated the level beyond the expectations of our family. Sadly, our mother died shortly after care was provided, but it was gratifying to have stellar care during her last days. Thank you so much for helping us and lovingly serving our mother. The staff was very proactive in finding the right caregiver to meet our needs and we were very pleased to have been assigned a caregiver who was compassionate, kind, and did a wonderful job managing my husband's changing needs over the past 18 months. The scheduling staff was very thorough and responsive to emails and calls. Home visits were scheduled periodically to check in on the dynamics between my husband and our caregiver. We recently terminated services only because my husband has progressed to the point that he no longer requires a daytime caregiver, but Assisting Hands was there for us in a time of great need and we were most appreciative for the great service!

It was decided that a male caretaker would be best for my spouse due to bathing and communicating needs for 2 to 3 days per week for 4 hours each time. Also, a house cleaner would be sent every 3 weeks for 3 to 4 hours. A few days later, an Agrace staffer called and said there was really no way they could send a male caretaker as they had very, very few of them available. The woman caretaker was very nice even though she had never assisted anyone with dementia. She was competent and able to get my spouse to bathe 4 times out of the 6 times she visited. Regarding the house cleaner, they were never able to find someone to clean my home, as they had promised. Finally, I got a call from them on a Monday evening at 6 pm to inform me that there was no one available for the next day's shift from 10 am - 2 pm. They then sent me a bill for $131 for the Tuesday they never showed up. I called but was informed that they told me a staff member would come on Tuesday and I was responsible for the cancellation so I had to pay. This was so untrue. Please be careful using them -- the initial person who comes over will promise you the moon even though he/she knows they cannot possibly meet your needs. Also, to charge me $131 for an appointment never kept by them, and based on a phone call they made to me, is really reprehensible.

If you are lucky enough to get alive person to answer they tell you they will call you back and never do. Caregivers often no show & calls aren't answered or returned. No process in place to make sure the caregiver actually shows up. Very unprofessional & can't be trusted.
