I was on a mission to buy chocolates to bring back to the US. I've been to many big Swiss brand shops which offer pricey chocolates (but worth it though). But in my many travels, I've learned that you'll never know what great treats you can get from local supermarkets, pharmacies, and convenience stores. Snacks, candies, chocolates, unique foods. Coop is a big retailer in Switzerland where you can buy a variety of things.
They have huge aisles just for chocolates. Different Swiss brands, lots of different kinds and sizes, and some European brands as well. It can get pretty overwhelming when you have a tiny grocery basket.
I picked up some Ovomaltine, Freya, Cailler, coop store brand chocolates (the dark truffles were divine), and Munz.
They have self checkout kiosks so you can scan, bag, pay, and go on with your day. read more
