I contacted several window companies around town, both local and national establishments. After being put off by some of the high pressure, in person sales tactics other places had, I found the approach that Brian and his team at Zen Windows very refreshing. I also saw that they were voted Best in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine in 2020, and I wanted to support a local business if I could. Brian was very generous with his time, and it only took a few phone calls with him and a quick visit from his installer to get measurements for them to have all the information they needed. I was impressed with how simple and straightforward the process was. Another huge selling point was that I wouldn't have to pay anything until the job was complete, a big difference from other companies. The turnaround took about three months for the windows to be built, but I would chalk that up to COVID, supply chain issues and increased demand for home projects because of the pandemic rather than anything on Zen's end. Quoted turnaround times at other businesses were similar. Once the windows were ready, Zen sent a simple three man crew to my home to perform the installation. Each gentleman on the crew probably had 30-40 years of window installation themselves, so as a team they were pretty capable. In just two quick morning sessions, my windows were complete! I'm extremely happy with the end result. The windows are fantastic, incredibly easy to use, they look great (black exterior FTW), and I can already tell they perform much better than the old ones. He brought in a window sample as part of his presentation to show the quality of the frame and glass of the windows. It wasn't a hard decision to make when I compared the other options I've seen during that time. I also looked up the reviews/ratings for the windows/door brand and the company. Richard also provided references of satisfied customers in my area, which I found it very helpful and transparent. The window depot has great Google reviews, as a Yelpie, I wanted to spread the word and be their first review on Yelp because I highly recommend them! They offered financing options which was a plus to proceed with the home improvement project. The cost was also reasonable. They replaced /installed my front windows and patio door. I was highly impressed with how efficient and phenomenally professional the installation was. Dave also came to do an inspection as the final step of the installation process. He brought me this thank you gift box with some goodies inside. Dave also assisted with registering my windows/ patio door for the warranty. During installation I found that the screens had holes in two of them and there was a large deep scratch on one of the windows When I called they sent someone out immediately to correct the issue. I get a lifetime transferable warranty and now that it's winter, I can tell they are much less drafty. I'm very happy that I can open my windows now and windex both outside and inside. So this year I wanted to go ahead and replace those. I called several vendors to get some estimates. While some like "Windows World" are busy this time of the year, they have responded and given me estimates. However Pella windows in Winston Salem did not respond as they promised. They had promised to call me back and set up a time to give me a quote. Several calls on my part later, they still have not made good on their promises to call back. I would prefer Pella brand windows, but I do not feel confident that they could even do the job as it's the results I have seen from the thus far.
