We have an amazing training center right here in Killeen. Project Scuba teaches all ages (must be…read more10) for scuba. I am 72 years young and am a Certified Open Water Scuba Diver. Scuba lessons are very affordable and my sage advice from trying to learn on split fins that were too flimsy, a leaking mask that didn't fit my pointed little head, and a leaking snorkel that tried to drown me. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE that is trying to help you save money. I immediately ordered my own fins, mask, and snorkel as soon as I knew what I needed. Please consult Amy...the best! Can't help but love her. Chris is awesome too. You will be taught individually (scuba), and they teach swimming for any age both individually or in small groups, all in a beautiful enclosed heated pool! And local! I was so thrilled and thankful to find them when I chose to pick up Scuba diving. If you like flying under water, following correct procedures for your own safety, willing to learn a new exciting sport working with amazing dive masters, somewhat physically able, can float easily and swim, love the water, able to pursue your new expensive habit, will always have a dive buddy, then this is the place to start and finish your Scuba Open Water Certification(s). They also have additional instructors (see website). I met three of them who certified me for both Dive 3 and 4...only 4 open water dives required, performing different skills proficiently each dive. If you are not able to perform all of them correctly, practice, get good at it, and retake the Dive you needed help with on another day. I was not charged extra for a retake). We signed him up for semi-private lessons at a facility. He had recently turned 2 and was put with a child much older than him. The first lesson was horrible as he was pulled under the water with no warning. He became so afraid of the water after that one lesson that he cried to even take a bath that night. During his second lesson I became so upset, I told my husband to go in and get him out of the water. After one month and his fear only growing, we pulled him out and didn't know where we were going to go from there. Fast forward to that summer, I was able to snag a coveted spot with Ms. Emily. The first few lesson were hard and there were tears but Ms. Emily has a special gift when working in the water with children. She is loving, patient, consistent yet firm. She establishes a bond with each child so they know they can trust her. She was a God send and exactly what my son needed. She builds a rapport with each family and it is evident that she unconditionally loves your child as she would her own. My son has swam with most of the instructors at All Things Swim. Each one is an extension of Emily's teaching. They are consistent, patient and fun. Each lesson ends with a few minutes of fun time, children always leave the water on a positive note. Our instructors always greet us by name as soon as we walk in door. It makes you feel special, not like you are just another client. My son loves going to swim and cries when it's time to leave. Ms. Emily and her team have built a solid swim foundation for my son. I no longer have a fear when he is around water. Although it's their job and summer tends to bring on younger instructors and they are qualified some don't have the patience or drive for toddlers. If you can find your way to work around a young man named Christians' schedule I strongly suggest this This young man is way over qualified and his patience with the toddlers show and they hang on every one of his words. I can't say enough great things about him and amazed how much my daughter has learned so far. He deserves a raise and other parents I spoke with noticed this as well. So as much as this place is great I highly recommend Christian if your child needs swim lessons.
