We stayed at Grizzly Hollow location near the Pinetop Country Club. The pictures online were much better than in person. There were moths EVERYWHERE...flying around in every room and whizzing in your hair. We spent a long time getting rid of them to calm my kids. 2 of the rooms were unhabitable due to the smell. Cool Mountain Vacations denied that moths existed in the home before we got there and said that they must have entered the home when we entered. No...the bedroom doors were closed when we first entered the house...and that is where most of the 20+ moths were living. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation, don't use Cool Mountain Vacations. read more

We have rented a couple different cabins over the past 10 years through Cool Mountain Vacations and this year we rented the Mountain Breeze cabin for the first time because we were late renting and the cabin we love was already rented... I have to say it is a cute, although a little overdecorated, cabin. My biggest complaints about it are 1) no WiFi - which to be fair to the owner it does state that but I overlooked it 2) the cabin has ONLY very basic cable and 3) the queen bed in the master bedroom is sooooo soft you wake up with terrible backache- it would be much nicer if they'd invest in a firmer king sized bed... So, for these reasons we will not be renting this cabin again. read more

We live in Phoenix and have rented through Cool Mountain Vacations at least 4-5 times and have never had better! Some of our most memorable trips to the white mountains have been through cool mountain rentals. Thank you, we will be back, likely year after year! read more

If I were giving a rating for lack of cleanliness, lack of attention to detail, lack of integrity, they'd easily get They specialize in cutting corners & doing less than the bare minimum. The bedding smelled like it hadn't been cleaned..ever. The cabin was filthy, from the fact you could see the counters were gross, to the things I swept out from under couches from past occupants. My recommendation is to never stay in a Cool Mountain rental. I'd rather check into a hotel, knowing it has clean sheets & there's a standard of cleanliness that they hold themselves to. Just spent a weekend in one of the condo's at Cool Mountain Vacations. The place is super clean, and new. The owners are incredibly easy to work with and were willing to change my dates around quite easily. This is a great place to come, in a beautiful tree covered location. We have rented 9 different cabins from Cool Mountain Vacations. All have been fantastic. Everything you need for a great vacation. Beartopia was awesome. This last trip we rented Whispering Pines with 2 other couples. Cabin could sleep 8 comfortable. Cabin had an awesome deck where we were able to watch deer and fox running by. The only thing we wish they had was some nice patio furniture for the deck. Only 4 folding chairs, we spent most of our time sitting on that beatiful deck enjoying the outdoors and the beautiful weather. Luckily we were able to text the last couple coming up to bring patio chairs. Thank you Cool Mountian Vacations. We will be back again. read more

I reserved a lovely 2 br lodge - Bela's Hideaway specifically - for what I thought would be a great long weekend Spring Break for my girlfriend and her son. With split custody, we had to negotiate who's got who for spring break as always. Sure enough, as that week approached, the father changed plans and our for a peaceful getaway - for the son - went up in smoke. I called Kevin certain he'd understand these extenuating circumstances. I guess not. What I got was the most syrupy-sweet fake-I-care "Gee, so sorry, have you read our T&C's?" Yes, that's terms and conditions - and he was quite gracious as he told this retired veteran I was hosed. Inside 45 days - tough luck buddy - it's my money now. I offered to change dates - he said NO and blamed it on the owner. I asked for my cleaning fee back - a mere $75 out of almost $500 - since they didn't have to clean a thing in our absence - I'm still waiting over a month later, So as a vet out $475 for a place I never set foot in, a disappointed young man who never made it to Show Low due to a shared custody change of plans, with an owner who is greedy enough to take that same vets money, and a property manager who'll blame it on them, not him (with a 40% commission I'm sure), I recommend all of you look elsewhere. A 45 days no changes/lose all your money policy is ridiculous in this day and age - I'm happy to plan out the next 3 weeks - who can plan further these days - even for vacation? So disappointed with Kevin and Tiffany, and shame on the Bela's Hideaway owners for shafting this vet (ironically during a Veteran's support event), his girlfriend, and her still-no-vacation son. All we wanted was some accommodation with alternate dates I suggest you don't rent there - unless your 45 days rock solid, it's greed. read more

Stayed in Der Nut Haus 5/28 - 6/1/14. Arrived 6 PM the evening of the 28th to a dirty cabin. Food still on stove from previous occupant, trash overflowing, beds with dirty sheets, floor covered in Dog hair and dirty bathroom. Grill outside didn't even have gas so we couldn't make dinner on it either. My wife made beds and cleaned dishes in sink. Cabin stunk of garlic so bad we weren't able to sleep the first night or cook breakfast the next AM. Since there is only Verizon service in Show Low and no emergency phone in cabin, had to go to Wal Mart next AM to get a phone we could call Kevin and Tiffany on. Waited around all AM on Thursday for housekeepers to arrive. Neither Kevin nor Tiffany called us to check to make sure all was satisfactory on our 2nd day and never have contacted us back after we requested compensation for the issues. First day of our vacation was ruined. Mistakes happen, but when the the people that make them don't follow through to correct them, we don't feel like a valued guest. Sorry, but we wont be back. read more

Last year I rented though this company and it was great (Mt Blessings Cabin). This year we had a horrible experience with Der Nut Haus. False advertising! They never said this was a mobile home in an RV park! They said it was a "cutie patootie cabin". Would have been nice to know it was in an RV park because that's not for everyone. They said it had a queen size bed--more like double. They advertised club house--but didn't return 2 calls we placed to ask how to get access (member only access). It rained the whole time and we actually picked this cabin because of the club house w/pool table if it was rainy. No essentials--2 rolls of toilet paper for 4 people for 5 nights?? We had to run out and get that, tissue, etc. We left a day early this place was so bad and now I'm out $100. And, I emailed Cool Mt Vacations to give them feedback and not only did they not return our calls while staying there, they didn't return my email to apologize or explain! I'll never use them again. read more
