Melinka is not your ordinary cafe, it doubles as bakery where, in the same location, they bake their delicious pastries. The walls of the cozy cafe are filled with their fresh cakes, pies and cookies. The owner, a very nice older man, has owned the bakery/cafe for years and really knows his stuff. He spends most of his day working the cash register or helping take orders in the Mosqueto location (there are two more - one on Catedral and the other on San Martin). If you have a sweet tooth I definitely recommend coming and trying one of their many delicious cakes. I recommend the 'ricota de arandano' (blueberry ricotta cake) or their bizcocho de lucuma (lucuma cake). If it is sunny out I recommend sitting out with a nice book to read and a coffee as the cafe is located on a small street with little traffic.

Definitely worth a trip here especially if you are in the neighbourhood. Los Reyes are a specialty Colombian bakery. They are famous for their cakes, made to order and can be decorated anyway you please. (Check their facebook page for pics of the cakes, the design is absolutely incredible and professional looking) They also have a huge selection of individual desserts and treats, cake slices, cookies, cupcakes, tarts, mousses etc. Everything is very affordable (500-1,000 CLP per item, some which are large enough to share). The staff is super friendly and considering this is in Recoleta, it is very very clean and modern inside, lots of seating and air conditioning, more similar to something you would find in Las Condes or Providencia. Not to be missed!

What makes this cheesecake really stand out from the others is the rich, creamy, filling (only attained by those who use quality ingredients and the right amount of cream cheese). Although I could go on forever about their cheesecake, they also offer both sweet and savory options. The owner and the other bakers use all natural and as many fresh ingredients as possible. The idea is to use the least amount of preservatives as possible. Pasteleria Sinfonia del Sabor boasts rich flavors, fresh ingredients and a unique style. They make all of their pastries and breads in house. Their store, although small, is filled top-to-bottom with different all natural delicacies that won't break the bank. The prices range from 1.450 for a slice of cake to 2.500 for a loaf of bread. I also recommend their carrot cake. It was moist, with spices and fresh carrot slices and manjar - perfect to accompany it with a hot cup of tea. The only down side is that the store, because of how small it is, is made more to pick up treats to-go than to enjoy them there. They only have one table with 2 chairs if you are lucky enough to find them unoccupied. Tip: They offer gluten-free options upon request. Most of their pastries has a vegan option, that is just as delicious (they either use vegetable oil, apple sauce or other natural ingredients to make up for the lack of buttermilk, eggs or milk) They also offer made to order pies, cakes among other things.
