The food is absolutely excellent. I had a baguette ave palta and a Tarte de citrón. Absolutely delicious. The presentation was lovely and the mocchacino divine. The only drawback is the service is really excellent and then I think the server got overwhelmed and forgot to bring out the tart but as long as you're patient it is well worth the wait. The staff were all very kind and it was peaceful and calm on the weekend. I would have preferred to give this place 4.5 stars but anything less would be a lie. read more

If you love bread and all things pastry, you will LOVE EK. This is a chain, but a very good one. I stopped in after an 8-mile run with my dog on Easter Sunday and despite my appearance, I received top-notch service and a smile. After that excellent experience, I decided to bring my hubby for a Sunday brunch. I was VERY satisfied with their brunch menu! I could not believe the amount of food and drink that we both received--it was almost too much (in fact, we did take some breads home with us). When it comes to drinks, like pastries, they don't skimp on quality. The fresh-squeezed juices are terrific and the coffee baristas really know what they're doing. I ordered a coffee on Easter Sunday that was delish and had a hot cocoa most recently. The raspberry juice was so great that my hubby, who was feeling a little under the weather, had two! The ambiance is what you would expect from a French cafe in the city. It's a smaller space but I recommend sitting outside if you can. We sat in the far back courtyard and despite the cold temps outside, we were cozy thanks to the warm heat lamps and they also provide blankets! I highly recommend this spot for the friendly service (even if your Spanish is not great) and really delicious food. They even have a nice bakery right when you walk in the door, so it's a perfect spot to grab a quick host gift, a surprise for a friend, or even a coffee drink to go. read more

A true French patisserie! Ambiance: Combined cafe/patisserie which is a tad cramped to go for a quiet coffee, but very clean and modern. Only 4 parking spots or a one block minimum walk as the street is no parking. There's an underground parking place under the park a block to the north. Service: Friendly and helpful. Several of the servers speak English well enough to help with selections. Food: The real deal. If you are nostalgic for a crunchy baguette or authentic croissant then this is the place to go. I've been getting a take-out loaf every weekend. The cold bottled drinks are clearly catering to the rich granola set, but the coffee is very good quality and value. Price: Very reasonable and definitely worth it. My go-to place for a taste of France. read more

Although I am not a big fan of chain restaurants, Eric Kayser is an exception. He is originally from France but has lived all over, learning and then teaching the art of baking. After, he opened his first bakery in France and having it be a big success, he wanted to give everyone the opportunity to have quality bread, so he slowly opened up bakeries all over the world (with his Chile "Boulangerie" opening in 2013). This chain gourmet bakery has the most interesting variety of bread and delicious pre-made sandwiches! I am particularly a fan of their lox sandwich with cream cheese, yum! Eric Kayser also offers breakfast! They offer a "Parisian" breakfast (5mil) as well as "Brunch" (8mil). The brunch is a huge variety of different breads, cookies and eggs - order this only if you are super hungry otherwise the Parisian is filling (but comes sans eggs). The staff are also super helpful and patient. They will take the time to help you pick the perfect bread and pastries for you to take home. Oh, they also have some delicious pastries such as macaroons, croissants, madeleines and mini cakes (seriously, you must try one of everything!). Despite having a somewhat high price-tag, if you want to try some quality gourmet french-inspired pastries and bread in Santiago, this is the place. read more
