Métissage - that's French for mix. A name that's appropriate given the variety of foods at this bakery. I don't recall where we found this place exactly, but it was either Google or Yelp, and well, either way - we weren't steered incorrectly. This bakery, a French-styled one, was so tasty that we went twice during our stay in Chile. Moreover, I think my companion liked this place more than I did, which is high praise considering he's French. Haha. The bread point blank is probably the best in the area. It's fresh and crunchy and pairs well with just about anything. Given the fact that we went twice, I can tell you that this bakery is very popular. We got lucky with parking the first day, but the second day we had to park far and walk blocks to get there. Now that's some dedication! DAY #1: We had the following - *Hot chocolate: My companion ordered this and wasn't a fan. Said it tasted odd because of whatever milk or cream product they put in. *Cappuccino: They give the option of either single or double cappuccino. The double cappuccino is the equivalent of a typical cappuccino in the US. I had this and it was strong. *Chicken sandwich: He had this and the presentation was lovely. Sandwich had "palta," which is what Chileans call avocado and he inhaled this. *Quiche: My order. It came with a salad and a lemon vinaigrette. I can't decide to this day what was better. Everything was delicious. *Pain au chocolat: We had some of these for dessert and they made a great end to our meal. DAY #2: We had the following - *Coke: Because he wasn't ordering hot chocolate after the last time's debacle. *Cappuccino: Double again as it was heavily charged and I needed to wake up. I was dead. *Scrambled eggs: He ordered this and it came with bread. He had the option of having the ingredients in the eggs or apart. He had them apart. I believe he had bacon and avocado. No complaints. *Omelette: Came with a side of salad and its amazing lemon vinaigrette, as well as bread. Chose to have ingredients mixed in. I think I chose bacon and caramelized onions. It was a hearty lunch. *Pain au chocolat: Ordered some to go as we couldn't resist. *Cinnamon roll: Also ordered to go as it looked great in the display case. Métissage - you're clearly a rockstar. The food was incredible. Authentic French in chile. The dulce de leche croissant is a MUST! It has been the best we have eaten. We brought a brownie for our grandmother to her. She only wanted one bite, but could not help herself and ate the entire thing! The fruit was fresh and delicious. Staff was friendly and spoke English. read more

Love this place. Just the smell when you walk in is worth it. They have a lovely terrace at the back and the whole restaurant is very cozy. Brunch was pretty good but the staff seemed a little overwhelmed. Brunch was served in a weird order and they took their while. Their pastries and breads (self service for take away) also looked great. We tried the chocolate bread and it was perfection! read more

The bread here is among the best you can find in Santiago. These guys have been here for about two years, at first I found the bread to be lacking a bit (at least that's my French GF's opinion!). However, in some months they did nothing else but improve and improve the quality! The baguette is super nice, their whole-wheat bread is great and it's awesome to actually have good Croissant & Pain au chocolat two blocks away from my apartment. They also sell lunch and have a pretty good espresso if you're a fan of those like me! read more
