Quequería su Señoria embodies both the artistic and chic attributes of the barrio they are located. The owners, a mother and daughter team, are super friendly and always chatting to their customers and helping them pick out the perfect treat to satisfy even the biggest sweet tooth. Not only do they have beautiful and delicious pastries, but they also serve rich, quality coffee. A must-have during these cold winter days. I recommend their tiramisu or lemon pie - to die for!! Because this pastry and coffee shop is so new and family run, they are still working out their hours and close early or randomly because of either paperwork they need to sort out or other problems. To make sure you aren't left with a Quequería su señora craving, check their FB page to make sure they are open, or give them a call before you head over. Tip: You can order a cake or cupcakes in advance for birthdays and events.

Having just come back from Colombia, both my partner and I were experiencing a case of…read morepost-vacation blues so, in an attempt to cheer ourselves up, we decided to go to the movies. On our way, we passed by Gustapan. At first glance, it looked like any other bakery (I actually thought it was a Paradiso), but when we walked in, we automatically felt that Caribbean warmth we were missing so much (or it might have been the heater...) Regardless, as soon as we heard the Colombian accents (everyone behind the counter seemed to be from Colombia as well as their client's sitting at the "bar" ) and saw the delicious baked goods (most of what they offer had cheese either in it or on top of it) we knew we had just stumbled upon our new favorite bakery. Their buñuelos (balls of warm, toasted cheese bread) were tasty and they even had the Colombian ají to go with it! They have all different types of delicious breads as well, such as "pana a la hawaiana" which seemed to be the favorite of all the Colombian patrons. I recommend buying one of their small loaves of cheesy bread. It is somewhat sweet with a texture like challah and is filled with cheesy goodness.

Another cute coffee shop in Santiago. Located in the middle of Bustamante park. There Cafe…read moreLiterario's all over Santiago but this one is definitely my favorite. The neighborhood by Bustamante park is very quiet which is what make it the ideal location for a coffee shop. The building is two stories and you can sit and enjoy a coffee on two different outside patios, one upstairs, one on the ground floor, or you can enjoy yourself inside. If you take your coffee inside the coffee shop you will literally feel like you are inside a library. Enjoy the tranquility of drinking a hot cappuccino while you enjoy a good book in a peaceful setting. They have a fun selection of pastries and muffins to accompany your coffee and the service is pretty good. The best part is definitely the location. I love being surrounded by trees and greenery, it is literally a hidden escape from the busy city.
