A block away from the Bellas Artes metro is the somewhat hidden street of Mosqueto. Mosqueto is lined with hip cafes, including Melinka.
Melinka is not your ordinary cafe, it doubles as bakery where, in the same location, they bake their delicious pastries. The walls of the cozy cafe are filled with their fresh cakes, pies and cookies.
The owner, a very nice older man, has owned the bakery/cafe for years and really knows his stuff. He spends most of his day working the cash register or helping take orders in the Mosqueto location (there are two more - one on Catedral and the other on San Martin).
If you have a sweet tooth I definitely recommend coming and trying one of their many delicious cakes. I recommend the 'ricota de arandano' (blueberry ricotta cake) or their bizcocho de lucuma (lucuma cake). If it is sunny out I recommend sitting out with a nice book to read and a coffee as the cafe is located on a small street with little traffic. read more
