ANYWAY, Fresh Tap Tours is an awesome service that a) introduces you to craft breweries you might not have known about b) drives you around in an awesome, air-conditioned bus with snacks and c) lets you feel like you're learning something about craft beers and brewing while drinking! win! I took the Galveston tour with FTT--We met up at Nobi, a fine, craft-beer mecca here in the Clear Lake area. From there we went to Galveston Bay Brewing Company (an absolute gem that will have a review coming!), Texas Beer Refinery (currently shacked up at the Clear Lake Shores Food Park, as their facilities are under construction) and Galveston Island Brewing Company. All of these breweries were amazing, and completely new to me. The owners or brewers at each facility give you an overview of their processes and beers, and lots of bevs! They seemed genuinely happy to have us at their facilities. Your ticket includes one or more beers at each of the brewery stops and your transportation on a luxury, air conditioned coach. The FTT tour guides are super friendly, and give you snacks! We even made a stop at buc-ee's for bathrooms and beaver nuggets. Fresh Tap Tours has a number of tours available for different regions of the Houston Area, and I can't wait to try some of their other ones!

We initially signed up for the downtown one (aka "the townie"), but I was too sick to go. Fresh Tap Tours was very understanding and rescheduled us for "the connoisseur" (clear lake and galveston area), which ended up being fantastic! Jonathan was a great tour guide. We met at Nobi and then went to Texas Beer Refinery, Galveston Bay Brewing Company, and Saloon Door Brewery. Everyone was so knowledgeable and the beer was so good. We tried a variety of beers...the craziest ones tasted like watermelon, dreamsicle, smoked sausage/brisket, or chocolate and peanut butter. We loved all the breweries and will def be going back to visit each one. We had no idea there were so many throughout Houston, let alone in the Clear Lake/Galveston area. And Jonathan was great at offering suggestions for other breweries for us to try as well. Saloon Door hasn't even opened yet, but we were able to stop in and try a few! We were given snacks, koozies, sunglasses, and some souvenir glasses from the breweries. My fiance and I bought a crowler of the smoked beer as well, it was just too good to pass up. It was so much fun, we had a wide selection of foods, and the guide, Christine, was great. She was sweet, down to earth, and knowledgeable. It's definitely a good amount of food. I was so stuffed by the end I couldn't finish certain dishes. I really liked 6 out of 8 of the dishes which I think is a good proportion considering everything was a surprise. We went to 4 different restaurants. I think everyone's least favorite was the last dessert, but it was okay because we had so much yummy food before then. I highly recommend the tour! The walking was nice since we were eating so much. You also get a little history tour as you walk. It wasn't too much walking so I think it's suitable for older adults and kids (I heard some of the other locations are more walking so be sure to ask if you're concerned). It's a little pricier than some similar tours I found ($70/pp), but they were much more responsive and easier to plan with compared to other places.

The starting point is the Spring Street Studios over by the Target on Taylor. From there you have the option of the Downtown tour or the Historic Heights tour. The downtown tour goes through iconic places in Houston to include Old Quality Hill, Minute Maid, Discovery Green, Market Square, and other spots along the Bayou. The Historic Heights tour is all about the eclectic style of the Heights and the history dating back to the early 1900's. I learned so much on both tours and I am a Houston resident. The bikes are comfortable, the tour guides are knowledgable and friendly, and the tours themselves are entertainment at its best. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. P.S. Bring some cash as there are places to stop for food or a beer along the way.
