My husband and I have eaten Cook's pizza throughout the years for over a decade. We were extremely disappointed when we arrived home and opened the lid of both our pizzas. I asked my Husband if there was new ownership because the appearance of the pizza was an eyesore! The appearance was as if there was no care or thought in preparing the pizza. The toppings (e.g. pepperoni, onion, green peppers, mushroom and ham) were just thrown in very small portions in a very small area of the pizza! Absolutely no flavor to the pizza sauce and so very dry!! If the changes are due to new ownership then change the name so previous Cook's customers are not misled by keeping the same name. We have deleted the number from our contacts list and will not travel the 30+ minutes to Cook's Pizza in the future. read more

This place has sadly gone downhill with the new owners. Food is not the same & service is terrible. I've been in several times but have since stopped going & it's been all kids running the restaurant. Sad how an iconic place is no longer there. This is our first time here. My friend and I have been wanting to come here for a while now. They do not take ATM or credit cards but do take cash and checks. This is a small mom and pop pizza place. If they took credit cards they would have to pay a fee. If you need to get money there is an ATM machine across the road. I can't believe the prices. Everything is so cheap. The menu has a lot of items to choose from and I'm glad they could improvise and give me chicken over sausage or red meat. I give this place a three only because I know that they have good pizza! Just good, not amazing. But I wanted a salad you know something a bit lighter, their menu had a grilled chicken salad on it. I was like cool, that sounds good! I went to order it the waitress did not know if they had a " grilled chicken salad" and when I asked what comes on it she didn't know that either! . So I get my salad, it has brown lettuce, two itty bitty pieces of tomato, like three small pieces of a slice of cucumber, so much cheese I can't see what else, but I found that there was nothing else besides the "grilled chicken" which was only small pieces of chicken warmed up that you would normally use on a like chicken Alfredo pizza in which had no flavor what so ever, highly disappointed to say the least . read more

Today we were in Wakarusa for another reason and stopped by Cooks Pizza for lunch. We came in and sat down and our server was sweet and we ordered pizza and Pepsi. After we ordered but before our food came out, the owner, Stan came over to our table and had a quick visit with us and then went back to work. Shortly after that he brought us out pizza and was so friendly- we felt like we were the only people in the place, and almost every seat was full! (He was busy but made his patrons his priority!) It's a rare thing these days for someone as nice as Stan to take the time to talk to us and personally bring our pizza. The pizza was great and was not 'chain' pizza! This reminds me once again why it's so important to shop and dine local! We'll be back! read more

Had lunch here yesterday and throughly enjoyed a cheese pizza, fried mushrooms and fried cauliflower. I first dined at Cook's as a very young man the first week they opened in 1971. Now 45 years later it remains the same small town gathering spot for locals. The place was hopping with all seats filled and numerous take-our orders, which says a lot about the quality of the food. The atmosphere is not fancy in the least. It always has been and always will be the local spot for people to gather to enjoy good food and conversations. The fact they have survived for as long as they have is a tribute to small town traditions. One warning, they accept cash or checks only. read more

Awful experience. My husband and I tried to call in an order 3 times on a Saturday night on the phone and it went to a busy signal, okay no problem so we drove in and sat. There was a single frustrated server and we waited patiently for him to get to us and take out order. After he came back and said there would be an hour wait on the stromboli and asked if we'd want anything different, we decided we'd just get our shake and drive back home then come back later for the rest of our food. Well about a minute later one of the 2 cooks in the back shouts something at us, twice, about how we should have called in because theyre so backed up. I tried to say we had tried to call 3 times and it went to busy signal but I'm sure he didn't hear me. The server boy asked if we wanted to still place our order but after being attacked by one of the workers I was just wanting to go home so I told him I didn't want to upset anyone so we'd just cancel. I left him $5 on the counter for the trouble and my husband and I left through the door and it's a heavy old door and my husband accidentally let it close a little hard not realizing that it's own weight would make it almost slam closed, and so another cook lady came out and followed us into the street shouting at us about how we shouldn't slam their door and they're short staffed and we should have called ahead.. I tried to say we did try to call ahead and that the door was an accident he didn't mean for it to close hard but wouldn't hear any of it she just kept yelling at me until I was crying and I had to ask her why she was yelling at us before she went back inside. Truly the worst customer service experience of my life it left me shocked that long term employees/owners of a business would treat customers so poorly and unfairly.
