This place is exactly what you'd expect for an old classic hot dog joint. You're treated like family, food is ready quickly, and the food is as expected. No frills or anything special, but you get what you want and you get it quick. The frosted mug of root beer was delicious and ice cold! My daughter enjoyed her sloppy joe that comes in a hot dog bun. The chips and cheese are what you'd expect at a concession stand at a high school sporting event. I enjoyed my three hot dogs and liked the Colby plus dog the best. The buns are soft and the hot dogs don't have a snap to them like traditional coneys in Michigan, which I prefer! The dining area was clean but it's small and cramped. When it's warmer outside, they have plenty of outdoor seating.

Best hot dogs and ice cream in the Grand Rapids area. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Indoor and patio seating. Dine in or take out. Call ahead and place your order.

We've driven past this place so many times over the years and finally got a chance to stop in; it did not disappoint! Husband and I each got two dogs; we got the Colby Plus, the Karona, the Allie, and the Grand Rapids dog. The Grand Rapids dog is grilled and super flavorful! The Colby and Karona come loaded with chili and toppings, and the Allie comes with saurkraut and multiple other toppings. These three dogs reminded us of Yesterdog - loaded, messy, and delicious. We also got their homemade root beer, and it was super yummy! I believe they have a special as well - if you get a root beer in a mug, you can finish half of it, then have them top it off with a scoop of ice cream for $1, so you end up getting a root beer float for $1! We will definitely be back again!

The root beer float was top notch+

We got the mad dog, the Chicago dog and the walking taco and EVERYTHING was delicious we are so glad that we discovered this spot. The service was great! Super kind and quick! I can't wait to try this place again!

Great food and service! Super cute inside as well. I had the polish sausage and my boyfriend had the Venezuelan. Both amazing!

So you're telling me I had these delicious hot dogs so close to my house for 5 years and no one told me??!!! I'm so glad I found out about Cooks! Working from home doesn't give much incentive to go out to eat, but this quaint little get away really does the trick when you have an hour lunch. They have a cute patio set up with lots of flowers and classic looking patio furniture to enjoy. I love the variety of the menu! Yes, let's make hot dogs fun shall we! I went with the Chicago (classic fave) and the Grand Rapids dog! Chicago dog was legit! Fresh veggies and a nicely cooked dog. The GR was good, the secret sauce was interesting, very Smokey. Not a bad dog but I don't know if I would order it again, the flavors were a too bold for me. I also enjoyed an Italian soda. The watermelon flavor was a nice treat! I'll be back to try some more of their hot dogs and side dishes

Not your normal beef stand with this cool of an interior groove. Had the hotdog and Italian beef. Poppyseed bun on dog was soft as a Twinkie and the dog was the real deal. My cousin and I sat at the bar, and you can get full service at the bar. She ordered a hot dog and I had a pizza. The hot dog came with that weird neon relish, in typical Chicago fashion, and was on a poppyseed bun. The fries are crinkle cut, and I don't know what seasoning they use, but it was so good! A little sweetness mixed in with the spices. The pizza was good; thin crust and cut square style like they do in Chicago, which I forgot about and kind of hate. I should've asked for silverware, but didn't. Next time I'd ask for it pie cut instead. The flavor was really good though. It was a bit pricey for what it was - it was a 12" pizza, and each topping an additional $3. $21 just seems high to me for a thin crust pepperoni mushroom pizza. I had draft beer and my cousin had a mixed drink. She had no complaints about hers, and mine was quite good! So many places draft beer tastes a little soapy, whether it's the way the clean their lines or how they wash their glasses, but I didn't taste any of that here. There aren't many choices on draft but was a good variety. They also have a full bar and lots of canned beverage choices. They don't have the healthiest menu, but that's not surprising since they're known for Chicago hot dogs, Italian beef, and pizza. If you know what you're going for it's perfect! The vibe is good. The space is pretty open, gets a decent amount of light, is clean, and there is parking! The restrooms are tiny, but clean, and I appreciate that after you wash your hands the door opens out so you don't have to touch a handle. We went on a Monday after work, which does turn into karaoke night, but we had time for a couple drinks and food before that really got going. It also wasn't crazy in there and we could still carry on a conversation at the bar without having to yell. I'm glad I finally made it in, and fully appreciate having them in the North Monroe area. I will definitely plan to have more happy hours here!

It's known as being a late-night stop if you've had a few drinks, but I also like it sober. This isn't Chicago or Detroit, so don't compare them. Yesterdog is its own thing! The buns are steamed, soft, and squishy, and the hot dogs are not snappy. The chili is gloppy and salty, and it's honestly some of my favorite comfort food. It's super messy so be ready for a lot of napkins. New owners recently took over the spot but so far have kept everything the same, including only taking cash. Try your hand at the tip target and grab a seat at a lumpy booth. Enjoy the many photos and messages left by previous patrons. The menu is simple - hot dogs (my favorite is the cheddar dog), chips, and beverages. There is a system of ordering so read it on their website. And don't forget cash. (They do have an ATM on site now.) Metered street parking and paid parking lots are all over in this area.

I have been to Top This twice now to buy their versions of this year's sweetest trend - the cocoa bomb! They are handmade at the shop and they are so much fun. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after trying one, I totally get it. I felt like a little kid again as I poured the steaming hot milk over the baseball sized chocolate bomb. It may not seem like anything will happen and then all of a sudden, it collapses in on itself like an imploding Death Star and mini marshmallows pop out! Then you just stir until the chocolate melts completely and you'll have the most decadent cup of hot chocolate you've ever experienced. They have all sorts of fun flavors like Andes Mint, my favorite! I keep saying this cup of hot chocolate is like the one they describe in the Polar Express: "thick and rich as melted chocolate bars." This is how I want every cup of hot chocolate to taste like from now on! They also serve frozen yogurt, pup cups, and acai bowls! I will be trying some of those in the future warmer weather - for now, cocoa bombs it is for me!
