When in SC, we have to stop at Cookout. My kids love it! They love the quessadillas........ My experience at Cookout has always been just average, however. This time, I decided to get the two dog combo with onion rings. I'm not sure if I was just really hungry from driving, but the combo was delicious. I like simple dogs with just onions and mustard. The onion rings were fresh out of the fryer and amazing. Service was walk up since we ate outside. Fast, very friendly service. We got a ton of food to feed 4 for 31.00. The burgers were given to us barely warm, the fries were stuffed in the bottom cold. We were charged for bacon, which we did not want nor order. The worst part is we were charged for bacon a $1 per burger and they did not even put on the bacon, which I don't eat. I called them telling them the food was cold, and charged for bacon we did not order, and than no bacon on them. Buyer beware, check your food before leaving if you eat here, ck you receipt for charges. I do not appreciate being charged for bacon, nor ordered bacon, I wonder how many people this Cook Out is doing this to ? read more

I eat at this Cookout ALL THE TIME. Its close to my house so I can ride my bike to it. The employees are always nice and fast. Never had an issue. One day I'll try all of their milkshake flavors. read more

The reason for the poor rating was not the food per se - I have eaten at other Cook Outs in the past - but to say the order did not come out as ordered is to understate the mistakes. Of course you do not know until you open the bag. I believe that it is the speaker system to order that is dysfunctional, as I was unable to understand the person taking the order and the lovely young woman cashier who I paid and gave me the food, told me it is difficult to understand inside as well. Regardless, I ordered diet coke and got sweet tea; I asked to add cheese on the burger and extra pickles - to no avail, although they did hold the mustard which was correct; the spicy chicken sandwich I ordered with only mayo and extra pickle came with lettuce and tomato instead - no pickles and I could not really sense any heat and I wonder if it was not a spicy chicken patty at all. Notably my receipt said I also ordered "1 water" which I did not receive, and since the charges are not itemized I do not know if I was charged for it. Would not go here again since it is drive thru only and I wouldn't trust that they'd get my order right. read more

No dine in here. Dual drive through and walk up service only. If you have a passenger you can cut in line by going to the left side and letting your passenger order. Service is quick and the food is delish. Can't go wrong with Cookout! read more

I can't say really anything good. UGH!!! The food wasn't good AT ALL. Getting back on the road to come home my sister and I decided on Cookout. I got a combo which was chicken quesadilla with extra cheese, bacon wrap and a chicken ranch wrap. All was dry as the desert floor. The quesadilla wasn't as dry because of the cheese. The tea tasted as though it's been sitting in a can for days. My sister didn't like her chicken sandwich either. All of it went in the nearest gas station trash. read more

We were on a long roadtrip and decided to follow these billboards off the freeway to try a "local" burger place. Now we know that it's a chain -- but it's still great! It was a bit of a drive and took us into a sketchy neighborhood but it was well worth the detour. It was drive-through only (what are they doing with the rest of that building...?) which we didn't expect but we made the best of it. The staff were very friendly and courteous. We loved our cheeseburgers and shakes! The sides were small and not very exciting (we had hush puppies, coleslaw, onion rings & fries) but everything was very hot and freshly cooked. My one gripe is that we didn't get any straws or silverware that we needed for our shakes and slaw. read more

Oh .. My .. Goodness. Okay, so I've never been privy to a "Cookout" restaurant before. For those, who like me, are new to the idea, let's simplify it for you... Cookout is a Christian organization that serves "cookout" style hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as a slew of 40+ shake flavors. On my first visit, I had no clue what to expect. I ordered a Big-Double with Fries and a Bacon Wrap, my wife Chicken Strips with Fries and Chicken Nuggets (yes.. as a side), and my daughter (2) Hot Dogs with Fries and Chicken Nuggets. -- Each "meal" was only $4.99.... First ------- insane, mind blowing options for "sides" .. Chicken nuggets? Chili Dogs? Bacon Wraps!? .. This was mind boggling. The burger? .. Fantastic! -- The flame/charbroiled taste was not what I expected, especially for the price. The bun was warm and toasty. The cheese melted to perfection. A blissfully tasty treat. The bacon wrap? .. Oh .. My .. Goodness. There's *no* way you can go wrong with strips of bacon, cheese, lettuce and mayo in a wrap......... and as a side? .. Oh .. My .. Goodness. The hot dogs? .. I can't say .. I never got a single taste of my daughter's hot dogs, as she devoured them! Eh... and that's where it ends, and why I didn't give them a 5 star review. The fries? .. Lackluster at best. No real taste or seasoning. The chicken nuggets tasted as if the word "chicken" was a suggestion, and not a fact. The chicken strips were "okay", but again, there was no real taste. Overall, I found that Cookouts are all over (and there's one about 60 miles from my home), and I would graciously stop in at Cookouts over and over again (in fact, as we traveled back from Georgia, we stopped at one near Charlotte, NC). Some of the food is out of this world - and some of the other food is "meh." -- But at $4.99, they have a price point that destroys the competition for the food to cost ratio. read more

This review was a harder one to make because I wanted to give it 3 stars but they do have 4 star quality! First off what everyone says about the milkshakes.. Amazing! Here is a funny story, my BF and I went there and yes they have over 40 different shakes and I ordered strawberry. The casher looks at me and says "you realize we have over 40 flavors, right" HA! yes, I knew but I love strawberry. It was incredible and I can't wait to go back. The burgers are awesome too, truly like a cook out. Savory grill flavor and cooked perfect. Now here is where the lower stars would come in. Their sides.. well, to say the most they are not that good. Hushpuppies created with just flour and some seasoning. ICK, that is not a hushpuppy. The fries were thin shoe strings and they were okay. When I go back I'll be trying a new flavor of shake and yes I'll have a hamburger, maybe two because I won't be ordering any sides. Be well my friends! read more

For a fast food drive the hamburgers are very good.. I wasn't a fan of their chicken sandwiches.

Count your chicken fingers or nuggets, make sure you have all of them before driving off.

Burgers that satisfy a craving. Lots of toppings to choose from. Is a chain. Service is great. Fries do go with that shake!

Good food- worth the out of the way drive to get here. Wasn't expecting a drive thru only place (because we wanted to get out of the car). They have their own style of ordering, so we held up the drive thru trying to figure it out. The window attendant was very helpful and nice! read more

Best milkshakes EVER. They have about 30 different flavors, and then you can combine multiple flavors, it's incredible! Love.

If you are a fan of chargriled burgers this is where you need to visit. The milkshakes are very good as well. I NEVER use to get milkshakes until i tried Cookout's now I'm a fan. Its perfect if you are on a budget like most college students are. $5 and some change will get you a nice tray of food. Did I mention this is one of the 2 or 3 spots in Orangeburg that is open late into the AM? Its drive-thru only. The only thing I don't like about Cookout is the outside menu. The full menu ( w/ all the milkshakes and burger choices) is only at the order speaker, so if you're looking to try something new you'll have to wait to the next time you comeback after viewing it at the order speaker. read more

Apparently this is a smallish chain of fast food burger joints found in the SC, GA area. I tried because it was the better option over McD, and I love the unknown underdog. The actual burger patty was thick and had a noticeable char ring like your backyard burger. Fries were thick. At the end of the day I would rather buy here over the national guys. read more
