TLDR: This class was our family's favorite experience in Rome and I can't recommend it enough. 100/10 stars!!! When traveling with a large family, it is hard to find activities that everyone enjoys. If you are looking for something for everyone, I highly, highly recommend taking a class with Andrea. I literally can't say enough good things about this experience, but I'm going to try to mention everything. To start, the location is so cozy and warm; it felt like walking in to someone's home. When we got in, my family was trying to be quiet because it felt like such a chill space, but Andrea came over and got everyone laughing and talking until we were as loud as we normally are when eating at home with the whole family. Only half of our group had any real experience cooking but Andrea was so great at keeping everyone involved and having fun the whole time. It was very entertaining watching my brothers try to clean fresh spinach and whip egg whites when all they usually do at home is boil water. I try to take a cooking class whenever I travel and this one felt the least like a traditional class. It was more like having an expert guide you in creating delicious food while offering tips and tricks than standing around following a written recipe. We also got written recipes to use at home after the class. This is a great class if your group has food restrictions; half our group is vegetarian and some have nut allergies. Andrea was super accommodating with our food restrictions, and we still ended up with incredibly authentic, seasonal food that everyone could enjoy. Dinner itself was a lot of fun, particularly with what felt like never ending wine pairings. After dinner, we tried the homemade limoncello and ended up coming home with several bottles and homemade jams to enjoy for new years. Andrea also wrote out recommendations for restaurants and markets to try throughout Rome during our stay. I will definitely be back if I ever return to Rome. read more

I have to admit, I feel like I am reviewing a close friend of our family. In October 2015 we were lucky enough to happen upon "Cooking Classes in Rome" and purchase the experience during our trip to Rome to celebrate my husband's grandmother's 80th birthday. We feel in love with the set up of the class, the history of Rome through its food that Chef Andrea explains to class participants, and especially, we fell in love with Chef Andrea and his passion for cooking and for traditional Roman culture. We spent the last four years, not only recommending the class to other friends and family members visiting Rome, but actually gifted this class to any one we knew traveling to Rome to celebrate a milestone event. Four years later we returned to Rome for a last minute trip before I was about to give birth to our first son. At 32 weeks pregnant, we couldn't imagine a better way to experience Rome again but by experiencing another Chef Andrea class and enjoying all the food and Roman history his class has to offer. Once again he did not hesitate to impress. He contacted us ahead of time to ensure we knew that he was creating a special menu to ensure that I could eat everything he was serving. When we got to the cooking school, it was like being greeted by a dear old friend who we had known for years. Chef Andrea proceeded to ensure that we were spoiled throughout the cooking classes, making much of the class focused on the anticipation of our new family member. It was the sweetest gesture. I can confidently say that Chef Andrea feels like an extension of our family. We will continue to gift his cooking class to friends and family visiting Rome, and we are already planning to take our newest family member back to experience one of his classes as soon as he is old enough. In the meantime, we will continue to cook Chef Andrea's recipes at home and keep growing this baby on the best Roman food. We are so thankful to have such great memories. read more

I'm in love with these classes. A friend took me to Andrea Consoli's class in a lovely little house with a professional kitchen in back. The class was about 5 hours, had so much value compared to other classes and was such fun that I've returned 3 more times when my friends visit me in Rome. Andrea goes an extra zillion miles to make this an unforgettable "event". It's entertaining and informative and the most hands-on cooking experience I've ever had. Because there are 12 strangers, Andrea instantly breaks the ice by providing coffee and traditional Italian breakfast pastry while we introduce ourselves. After, we enter the kitchen where the central stainless counter is piled high with an abundance of gorgeous food. By the time the cooking experience is over, there's not a morsel that hasn't been utilized. I've never had a repeated meal there--and believe me, this is soup to nuts--as Andrea is so considerate to take into account his repeat participants. Appetizers to die for, pasta by hand, amazing veggie and protein courses and finally, divine desserts served with a delightful surprise at its service. By the time we are done--usually by 3 pm, we have made great friends, exchanged emails and needed a forklift to remove ourselves after this totally gorging day! A true Roman experience where Andrea always demonstrates with great humor and knowledge that food is truly love. BRAVO! read more

Cooking with Chef Andrea was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Italy! We enjoyed a private course in his kitchen and dining room on the very first night of our vacation, which not only set the perfect tone for the rest of our travel, but was also incredibly useful in learning about Roman and regional Italian cuisine -- it helped us hone in on where we wanted to eat and what to order at restaurants for the rest of the trip! Chef Andrea himself was fabulous. He is extremely thoughtful in the meals he plans for the course, choosing ingredients that are fresh and local and dishes that are reflective of traditional Roman classics. He's extremely enthusiastic about what he does and passionate about imparting knowledge on his clients without being overbearing in doing so. We felt like we were cooking and hanging out in a friend's kitchen! I can't recommend this experience enough for anyone visiting Rome. My daughter and I spent three full days in Rome, and one of those days was spent with Chef Andrea Consoli, which turned out to be our BEST day in Rome! We had a wonderful time in Chef Andrea's lovely kitchen and dining room, sharing our cooking and eating experience with people from all around the world, enjoying authentic Roman cuisine, using fresh ingredients and adding that special ingredient, LOVE! Chef Andrea taught us how to make Roman artichokes, fresh pasta, bolognese sauce, meatballs cooked in wine, and topping off the meal with delicious tiramisu. Not only did we enjoy cooking, eating and drinking paired wine with each course, we had the pleasure of being in the company of a diverse group of people, learning from an experienced Chef who made each one of us feel special. I have taken Chef Andrea's class 4 times in the last 10 years. I can't think of enough adjectives to describe how wonderful the experience is!! (But I'll try :) It's a great way to learn how to prepare an authentic Roman meal. Andrea is an amazing host, and he has a hilarious personality, which makes the learning experience a lot of fun!! It is nice getting to know the others in the class (who come from all over the world) as you cook together! Chef Andrea is happy to accommodate dietary restrictions/allergies as well. If there is something special you want to learn, just ask him! The food you prepare is excellent, as well as the wine pairings. The last time I attended was with my 22 yr old son, and afterwards he told me it it was the highlight of our trip! read more

I LOVED Cooking Classes in Rome with Chef Andrea. It was my favorite part of a trip to Rome I took in 2012, and again in 2025 Chef Andrea beats all. He is fun to cook with, interesting to learn from, and his food is unbelievably good. He is calm in the midst of a lot of people cooking and humbly served us the food when we were done cooking. He had us cook 7 different recipes (and shares them all with you so you can cook them when you are home). If you have teens, don't be afraid. This was the best day we had in Rome! Cant recommend this class enough! Andre was amazing, he kept us busy, made it fun and at that same time it was very educational. We had an amazing day, met some other great people that we had a lot of laughs with. In the end we were all able to sit down for an intimate meal as though we were a family. Andre paired each course with the perfect wine and explained why. He followed up by giving us all the recipes so that we can make this meal at home. Chef Andrea is knowledgable and friendly. His classes (I've taken four so far) are always one of the highlights of my trips to Rome. Besides giving the history and background of the foods to be prepared, he's everywhere in the kitchen checking on each of the various parts each of us is working on. Too, he's only more than willing to answer questions, give pointers and do everything to make the class and meal a true culinary experience. This was the highlight of our trip. We were a group of seven including two teenage kids. Omg ... it was the best experience ever. Chef Andrea is so knowledgeable, caring an amazing teacher. I think we had about seven dishes and it was all phenomenal. Each of us felt so confortable cooking and learning from him. Victoria taught us how to make pasta and each of us had the the opportunity to try it. This is a must do! I'm grateful for the opportunity and the new friendship gained on this trip. read more

We had such a good time. The other couples there were great that were there with us. Chef Andrea was so engaging and his wife was delightful. We were "hands on" preparing a five course meal and it was so much fun. After the cooking, you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor and a fantastic wine pairing as well. I've taken other cooking classes before and this is the best by far. The atmosphere is terrific and Chef Andrea Consoli is a complete professional. He's engaging, enlightening and entertaining but this isn't a show class: you learn the right and wrong way to do things and you learn why. Our group of ten American ice cream makers visited Rome two years in a row. The only thing they insisted on repeating on the second trip was not Michaelangelo, not the Trevi Fountain, but another class with Chef. And, just like last year, it was a highlight of our vacation. This being my second time in Rome and my best friends first, we both came away from the cooking lesson with such great smiles. We spent a week in Rome, and this was the most fun we had! Chef Andrea is funny, fun to be with, and an expert teacher in Roman cuisine. He helped us make dishes that we never thought we could cook. And he corrected many of our misconceptions of Italian cooking.
