Thank you for adding a ray of sunshine to my son's birthday! The cookie bouquet was beautiful and delicious, and a special shout out goes to Laura, who delivered the basket. She rearranged her day to ensure my son got his birthday treats, and she made me one very happy mama! This store doesn't just make beautiful treats, but also treats their customers well. I highly recommend them to everyone looking for a great gift or a tasty cookie for a special event!

I ordered this for my daughters birthday...she owns a coffee/ice cream shop! perfect! and she loved it!

The "Great Pumpkin" cupcake! My girlfriend's probably going to be mad I didn't share. ;)

I've been here a couple times now and I'm hooked. The outside is unassuming and easy to miss inside of a parking lot that has a Busch's grocery store as well as several other shops. It's a nice little quaint shop on the inside. There's a glass case right up front displaying their cupcakes and cookie selection and then a chalkboard behind the counter explaining the pricing, The ladies inside have always been nice and friendly. Cookies by Design seems to be a relatively simple dessert shop that doesn't do a bunch of crazy out of the ordinary flavors, but what they do, they do very well. I've had 3 different cookies and a cupcake there so far. The Chocolate Peanut Butter cookie is really good. The cookie is crumbly but yet still moist and rather than having chocolate chips in it it has a small puddle of chocolate right on top. The Snickerdoodle cookie was great as well. Not too sweet and the perfect kind of chewy-moist texture that allows you to enjoy a snickerdoodle without a glass of milk or anything else. The Pecan Praline (I'm probably saying that wrong) was very crumbly and at first I didn't know how to take it. The flavors were great though and had nice pieces of pecan in it that I enjoyed. After a few bites I got comfortable with the texture and think it's an overall pretty good cookie. The Great Pumpkin cupcake didn't hit me with much pumpkin flavor at all. But it did hit me with cinnamony creamy sweet luscious flavors that had me ready to drive back there and get another one before I even finished the one that I had just bought! The cake was moist and in the center it had some sort of creamy white filling. It was topped with a white buttercream frosting and dusted with cinnamon. This is the best cupcake I've had in a while. There are lot's of little bakeries in this area of West Bloomfield. Probably 4 or 5 within a couple miles of this place. However, I won't be going to any of them when I want a good cookie or cupcake. I'll be coming here.

We were next door getting our nails done and one of the nail techs walked in carrying one of their bags with cookies. As a foodie I just couldn't help myself. The nail techs all spoke very highly of it, and I really enjoyed it. The prices are what would be expected from a place that specializes in cookies and cupcakes. I got one cookie and one cupcake for four dollars and change. I wasn't blown away by the items I purchased. It was nice to be able eat the cookie (chocolate peanut butter) without needing a glass of milk. The cookie was soft and the chocolate was creamy, but the cookie didn't scream peanut butter. It was reminiscent of peanut butter actually, which disappointed me. The cupcake was delicious however light and fluffy with a non gritty icing. As I was leaving I heard the lady say they have been there 16 years, and since they have 2 other yelp reviews I definitely think this place is a hidden gem.

I ordered cookies for my cousin who just had a baby. She sent me a photo, and the cookies were larger than I expected, which is usually opposite when you order something online. She said they were delicious! They were delivered very quickly the same day I ordered and looked adorable. It was a nice change to ordering flowers, which never look like the photo. I will be ordering again!!

They did this cute bouquet for a surprise.

Call it what you will, in simple layman's terms it is a rice flour based treat that has a unique light weight chewy/stretchy texture that can be covered in a host of sweet toppings/glazes for unique flavor profiles. With this definition in mind, the Mochinuts made at this business are very well made and quite tasty treats that just disappear off your plate. How did that happen (: Realtive to facility and staff, the staff is very friendly and spent the time explaining how these treats are made and what makes them unique from a traditional donut. Building itself is quite clean and bright with some indoor seating and sells other items to include Rice Hotdogs (think hotdog on a stick), Mochi Dumplings (think filled Pierogi's), Taiyaki (rice flour fish with fillings), Ramen and Macrons. Definately a rather unique/eclectic menu from what you typically see in this area. I was pretty enamored with all aspects of this business with the exception of their prices where each Mochinut is $4.50 which is quite steep in my opinion. Having said that, I will be returning in the not to distant future as these Mochinuts are just so darn good.

There is a make your own ramen station so much packed into a tiny spot. But the person working here was really not overly friendly to us. He was certainly friendly to others and his friend who came it, but lukewarm at best if not a tab bit rude to us. Funny, though, there were four of us and we all purchased something. Two of us got the bubble tea. This is not the first Mochinut we have been to, and the tea is super cute in a can, but ensures you get less product (plus way too much ice) for the price. Really, there are better bubble tea places out there for better value. One got a donut. And others have said, while it was good, not as fresh as it could have been. Does that mean they are not moving the product? The other mochinut in Troy and Mochidough in Troy both move a lot of product, donuts taste fresher. We also got some viral ice creams. We got the chicken burger and the mini fruits. Those were both amazing, but not made by the shop. just sold here. Plus the ice cream was so super overpriced, I can get them both for a fraction of the price, but since we were here and it was on my list, I bought them anyway. I am not saying I am not coming, back, but I can buy these corndogs at the grocery store, and get a friendlier service and more value elsewhere, so this could be a one and done for me.

Josh Charlip, the founder & president of Eskimo Jacks is who we worked with. First off, a couple days before our wedding, he claimed to have "quoted us the wrong price" and raised our contract to $50 higher on the dot, which didn't make sense. We had signed & agreed on a contract & price, but with only a few days before our wedding, it was too late to find someone else to provide for our many guests. So we paid the extra charge. We paid $600 dollars worth of ice cream. You'd think we'd get some kind of respect. To top that all off, we overestimated the amount of ice-cream that we needed purposely to be safe, and they had the audacity to say that they sold out and didn't have any left over, so they could leave early! They were suppose to send the left over ice cream with us. After all, we paid for it! They claimed they "didn't have enough" so they could leave early before the time period we paid them to stay until. They clearly LIED, kept the extra ice-cream we paid for, and left early to call it a night. Furthermore, they were suppose to provide a large nice stand, (the reason that drew us to hiring this company) - however, they came in with a small and completely different one. They told us they would be in professional chef hats/uniform, however, they were not. They told us they would have our menu typed up nicely for our guests, but they had a cheap, small dry erase board in which someone sloppily wrote the menu out. It was an embarrassment to say the least. I don't think this company is trustworthy, in regards to their business. I do NOT recommend them to anyone.

Monroe Street that it's located off of is under heavy construction currently so it may be a bit treacherous navigating the sidewalk outside, but the pastry shop remains open and continued to enjoy heavy foot traffic during the hour I was inside. The staff members are friendly and recommended the baklava as their most popular pastry, so I ordered one dipped with chocolate and pistachio, along with an iced latte. They had about five small tables along the wall for you to sit and eat at, but the benches are wooden and not the most comfortable for use as a study spot. My coffee was nothing to write home about, but the baklava was flaky and very sweet, definitely one of the best I've tried. They had a huge variety of other pastries too, and if they all taste as good as they look, would be worth checking out too.

The carrot cake looked delightful but the slice of red velvet looked a little dull. When it was time to indulge we started with the red velvet slice and discovered it was a waste of calories if you're a red velvet fan - the cake was dry and the cream cheese icing was anticlimactic. On the other hand the carrot cake was amazing - super moist and got a 2 thumbs up. In addition I will say the staff was very friendly and patient especially with our loads of questions. I will go back but the red velvet will not be purchased again. Also I love the overall look and feel of this bakery but do wish it had more seating.
