the outside of a restaurant at night
Jordan B.

Haven't had a Cookout tray in forever and decided today was the day! Didn't disappoint either...just like I remembered! LOL! This location has two lanes for ordering (although many used the main lane and hardly anyone used the second lane). This caused the line to be backed up outside of the parking lot. ‍ All good! Line moved moderately quick! Staff was friendly and got the order right. No issues in my end! Located on Statesville Ave in Huntersville, by many other establishments. Definitely try them out and stop by!

2nd day open and 1st visit. Drive through is slow but all Cook Out Drive through tend to be slow. Traffic backs out onto Catawba Ave. First time I've ordered a BBQ plate but is was pretty good.

I just left cookout and this was supposed to be my "quesadilla".... Not to mention the service is horrible. Do better.

This was supposed to be my "quesadilla". Both of them turned out this way. Horrible service every time I go. No reason the food should be turning out this way. Just pure laziness.

Best bang for your buck for sure. I liked the double burger with fries and nugs. Good stuff for $8. Drive thru takes a second to get through but it hits the spot for $8.

Inexpensive

The good: Inexpensive food. Affordable and edible. You can go "all out" and practically buy the entire menu for $20. If you're fine with the quality and portion size you'd expect at that price, you're going to be satisfied. Speed of service is great. The bad: this particular location is a pain to get in and out of depending on the time of day. Accuracy here sucks. I asked for my sandwich without mayo and it was remade within a minute, but still had mayo (and honey mustard) on it. I'm not going to ask a third time to get it right. Oh well, I ate it. Portions are small. Four onion rings to an order -- think BK-sized. Disappointed. I dined in and the air conditioning unit sounded like a train horn in the distance; I was questioning my sanity by asking where the train tracks were. The trash cans were disgusting and sticky and smelled like a dumpster. Gross!! Average food, minus a star for accuracy and cleanliness.

The workers are very friendly and very attentive to what we needed. If I needed something, I did not have to wait for a long period of time for them to bring it to the table which I greatly appreciated. I ordered two fish tacos, which came with a side of black beans as well as the crab hush puppies. All of the food was very good and fresh! The fish tacos were very, very big and I liked the coleslaw and sauce that was on the top. It added a nice texture to the tacos. The fish was very crispy and it was well balanced throughout the taco. I only finished one of the tacos while I was there because they were that big! The black beans tasted like they had some type of neckbones or something smoky in it, but there was no meat in them at all. Delicioso!! My only gripe is that the side of black beans was very small. Nonetheless, it is something that I would go back for. The crab hush puppies were very good. The hush puppies were not dry, but they were moist and the crab melted in very nicely with the hush puppy mixture. I ordered eight and I promise you that I could eat a whole 12 or 16 of them by myself lol My guest ordered a patio margarita which was about seven dollars and said it was good and boozy. The drinks are standard pricing ranging from about $6-18. Overall, I'm very pleased that I finally tried this place.

Optimist Hall itself is a very food-centric, upscale food hall with a ton of vendors, so the atmosphere is energetic and fun. Seating can be a little challenging during peak dinner hours since so many people are grabbing food from different spots, but when the weather is nice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Harriet's keeps their burger formula refreshingly simple. It's a classic smash burger done right--made to order with a straightforward menu that doesn't overcomplicate things. There's usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly, and the burgers come out hot and fresh. One of the best parts of eating here is the flexibility of the food hall experience. While you're waiting, you can grab a craft beer, a glass of wine, or even browse for dessert from one of the other vendors. Insider tip: Come with a group if you can. It's a great place to share fries and let everyone explore different vendors around the hall. Parking is fairly easy with the nearby garage, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Overall, Harriet's is a fun, delicious stop for a smash burger, especially if you're already enjoying the energy of Optimist Hall.

I live super close to Optimist Hall, so it's been on my radar for a while. This particular night I wasn't feeling great, so I DoorDashed instead of dining in. I ordered the Royale with crispy fries and let me just say... I get it. The burger was genuinely impressive. The quality of the beef stood out immediately. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The meat to bun ratio was spot on, which is crucial. Nothing worse than a bread heavy burger. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, the build was balanced, and even after delivery, everything held up beautifully. So far I've tried two burger spots in Charlotte, and this one takes the top spot. I'm not ready to declare it the best in the entire city just yet because my burger tour is ongoing, but right now it's leading the race. I'll definitely be going to Optimist Hall soon to try it fresh off the grill and experience the service and atmosphere firsthand. Expect an update. But based on this first round alone, Harriet's is absolutely worth the order. Burger lovers, this one deserves a try.

We decided on a BBQ chicken sandwich with onion rings and French fries and an Asian chicken salad. The sandwich was piping hot and done really well. It was the first time trying a salad here and it was definitely good. It was too big to finish, so I had half wrapped up. Loved the hot chicken on top of cold salad. Very tasty. The decline in food quality and inattentive service have removed this restaurant from our rotation.

This is a nice restaurant situated in a little old single-story house that faces onto an inner courtyard in the old part of Huntersville. The main dining room is furnished with an eclectic assortment of mismatched chairs and tables, but it all seems to work. There is also a short bar for those eating alone. Kids are welcome, and they even have a box of toys for kids to amuse themselves with while others dine. Everyone in our group had some kind of breakfast offering ... and they offered some really creative choices. Service was on point, and everything came out together and hot. The only misstep was the lack of onion on one order. Coffee was hearty. They have a lot of outdoor seating in back facing the courtyard, and even some in the front yard: these outdoor arears effectively double the seating capacity of the restaurant, and both are totally dependent on the weather.
