We stopped here on our way to the movies one evening trying to get some grub before popcorn being our only choice. The food was really good! I didn't realize this was a chain. We are still learning the area. I got a cheeseburger with grilled jalapeños, onion, lettuce, and ketchup. It was soooooooo good! Extremely filling too. I got a side of the Cajun fries and a drink. I loved all the Bible verses on the packaging. Nice little reminders as we sit and are thankful for our food and many blessings! During our visit, the computers had gone down, and that held things up a bit since you couldn't pay with card. Thankfully, it was sorted fairly quick since we were on a time schedule. I prefer this as my go to for a burger, and the prices are very reasonable! read more

At around 10:40 we went to cookout on Tuesday 10/7/25. An older white gentlemen ('m not sure I'd use that word to describe him) asked if we had "four trays". I misheard him and thought he said "four shakes" so I confirmed. My friends in the car quickly told me he actually said tray, so I tried to get his attention by saying "excuse me" 3 times. He didn't hear me either, which is no problem at all. He then handed me a drink carrier with 4 cups. When it was in the car and I had handed him my credit card, he stated that he was confused. It was "four trays and four drinks". I told him "I'm sorry, I misheard you, we had four shakes". He instantly became annoyed and stated that I had just paid for the order behind me, which was 2x as much as mine and berated me, saying "all you had to do was say yes that's mine". He handed me the four shakes (after taking back the drinks) that I apparently just paid for twice over and I politely thanked him and drove away. After waiting in the drive through for 30 minutes and dealing with a rude man who thought it was appropriate to speak to costumers like that I did not feel like challenging him to correct my order or let him know that it is his job to know what car ordered what. Maybe he enjoys acting like that towards young girls, but that attitude should be left at the door before clocking in. I wish I had gotten the money that was stolen from me, but I did not want to risk an altercation with a deranged man holding mystery drinks who clearly had no self control or manners. read more

Worst cookout experience I've ever had. Woman working tonight was very rude to all customers and told us that the lobby was closed at 1:53 when online it said it closed at 2:00am leaving us sitting on the curb for the night until our new uber came to pick us up. I would give this restaurant a zero if that was possible. Rude person took our order Sunday night. Order was prepared wrong, not all ingredients included on burger. Person who "fixed" it was also short with me and didn't fix it correctly. The thin burger patties were way over cooked and had no flavor. Tables were filthy, we had to clean them ourselves. Only thing that was up to standard was the soft drink machine worked properly. That is it. I don't understand why so many people flock to this place. I guess they feel like they are getting a deal with the two side items. I will not be back. read more

Sat in the drive thru for ~15 mins while most of the employees were standing around outside talking to each other. Ended up going inside to order, which I was able to do so immediately. The drink machines were out of almost all soda syrups, and one was overflowing with dumped ice and soda and was dripping onto the floor. Food came out quickly, but the fries looked and tasted like they'd been sitting in the freezer for a month before being cooked. Love cook out, but this location is very poorly managed. read more

Cheap decent food. I feel like the quality has gone down since the pandemic started. Not sure if they changed food vendors or what but you can absolutely tell a difference. Meh, nothing to write home about. It was okay. It's just a fast food joint that isn't named McDonald's, Hardee's, Burger King, etc. The food was cheap and decent. Ya get whatcha pay for! Restaurant was clean, didn't use the restrooms. They have Cheerwine - yum! The Cook Out Tray is a good size for 2 small kids to share, but not enough for adults to share. The chicken quesadilla was pretty good, it actually tasted like something from Taco Bell. The burger patty had a chargrill flavor like Burger King. I enjoy coming here..better than the Greer location..food is great..disappointed prices have gone up..Since the coronavirus epidemic,this location has installed a walk up service window since can't go inside..this keeps traffic running smoothly at drive thru service..not as busy like it was two weeks ago,but once this epidemic is over with every business will be booming once more. read more

Came here for a quick snack before starting our day. We were greeted quickly. It wasn't busy at all. I was surprised considering it was a sunday afternoon. I like the milkshakes here. I always like to get the watermelon milkshake in July and August. The sweet tea is also pretty good. They have very cheap food the cookout tray comes with so much food but the food is....something you eat because you're starving and nothing is open. I don't like the food because it doesn't taste good to me. I feel like I am eating fake meat, even more so than many other fast food places. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love Cook Out. I CRAVE their hushpuppies, and nothing beats hitting this classic joint up after a night out. However, I was quite disappointed in our service at this particular Cook Out. My friends and I stopped by after drinks on a weekend night (around 11pm...nothing too crazy). We ordered, and we waited 25 minutes...yes, 25 minutes...for all of our food to be called out. This is a fast food establishment, folks. After much disgruntled arguing, they did comp one of the meals that took the longest to come out. But, I definitely won't be coming back here! read more

Every time we pass this place the parking lot is overflowing with cars so we thought something good must be going on, and we weren't disappointed when we tried it for lunch today. Even though the line inside to place an order was snaked around the dining area, we made it to the counter in a reasonable amount of time and our order was taken by a very friendly young man. They did a great job at handling the crowd, including a bus load of people that walked in when we were there. The food was good and very reasonably priced - your choice of a variety of burgers, chicken or BBQ sandwiches, even quesadillas - plus two sides and a drink for $4.59. And don't leave without ordering one of 40 different milkshakes, such as the banana pudding flavor with bits of cookie in it. Yum. Worth fighting the crowd and waiting for a seat. read more

Love this place. Where else can you get a hamburger plate with cole slaw and onion rings for $5.00? This location is my go-to place for a quick bite, and a really tasty milkshake. Until this past Sunday after church. Pulled in the drive-through at 1:15 PM with around 9 cars in front of me. Did not move one inch for 12 minutes. . . ??? Snails pace for another 10 minutes, but finally got to order. Sat at the window with my drinks for another 10 minutes . . . chaos in the kitchen was obvious. Greatest "value meal" in Greenville. I agree, the food does come out a bit smashed but it tastes good anyway. We had the big double burger trays with cole slaw, fries & onion rings. They hubby complained that his burger was greasy, but he ordered his steakhouse style, which includes grilled onions. I pointed out to him, they are most likely cooked in tons of grill butter (aka- oil). Must have been good, because a day later he's mentioned it several times. The cole slaw is yummy, as were the onion rings. Hubby loved the fries too! This isn't fancy fare, if your looking to spend $15 on a snooty meat patty on bread, go a few miles away to Grill Marks. If your needing GOOD and fast food, this is your place. read more

I really have only tried one thing at cookout and it's the milkshakes. So until I eat something there, I'll review the milkshakes. I have tried a few different flavors. I have had the peanut butter, Reese's, caramel, and chocolate chip cheesecake. Each one was thick and creamy and full of flavor. The problem I had with the cheesecake one is that all of the cheesecake was at the bottom of the cup so there was no flavor of cheesecake until you got down. My biggest complaint is that if you try to drink a milkshake from cookout with a straw you are likely to pop a blood vessel. That's how thick they are. Definitely need a spoon so if you are driving it probably isn't a good idea read more

Too bad there's no stars greater than 5 stars. I went here at 1 AM right after watching Star Wars VII. The dude working the counter was very inviting. His name was Isaac. I asked Isaac about suggestions and he told me he only gets a double burger with bacon, cheese, grilled onions and mayonnaise. I called it the IsaacBurger and I ordered, ate and loved it so much that I suggested it be a regular on the menu. My only regret is the next time I return to cookout and I mention Isaac burger they won't understand what I mean. I loved it so much I'm giving the IsaacBurger, Isaac, and Cookout 5 stars. It was lunch time and I wanted to try a few different things to see what they were doing here. I got a brisket sandwich, which was ok (I did not discern any smoked flavor) but the portioning was underwhelming. The cheese did not add anything to the sandwich. I also ordered a hot link and I ended up adding several slices of the link to the underwhelming sandwich to give it some substance. And lastly, I ordered a mac & cheese eggroll - ok, but nothing special. This was a take out order and I got the hot BBQ sauce, which was pretty good. Overall, the BBQ here is just middling and I've had much better. Maybe some of the other menu options would change my mind, but doubtful I'll return. One other item of note - this business will add on a 2% hospitality tax, a 2.5% take out tax and a 2.99% credit card surcharge to your bill (if you pay by credit card). I don't know if these additional taxes are manditory state or local taxes, but I would presume so. When the anti-tax morons scream and cry about property taxes and income taxes, this is what you end up with. And everyone is adding credit card surcharges now, so no surprise there. There is of course an additional sales tax added on the order, which I presume is the standard state sales tax. For those of you who are mathematically challenged, there is also an handy Suggested Additional Tip chart at the bottom of your receipt, if you are so inclined. It's based on check price before discounts and taxes and will tell you so.

Seasoned, wood-smoked, moist and flavorful. So tender it can be cut with a fork. Meat candy goodness. Is it supposed to be so dark? Absolutely, the servings are NOT burnt. There's a wonderful bark on this brisket which comes from a generous seasoned rub, low heat and a lot of TLC. Is it supposed to be fatty? You bet. Brisket is a tough cut of meat and fat provides tenderness, moisture and flavor. This ain't fine dinin' but the service from the counter is always welcoming and helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating if you'd prefer to stretch your legs and eat here instead of waiting for the long drive home. The sides and sauces are very good as well. I love the Sweet Potato Crunch and the tangy OG Sauce is as good as any Texas Hill Country joint offers. (Sorry, I have no food photos. We each got the sandwich combo (meat of your choice, 2 sides & a drink) and some smoked sausages. The turkey was amazing, as was the brisket and pulled pork! The sausage is some of the best we've ever had. My sons loved the mac 'n cheese and I loved the coleslaw and sweet potato casserole. There's plenty of seating, both inside and outdoors. The vibe is very family friendly and welcoming. They had seasonal blackberry & peach cobbler on the menu, but it was sold out that evening. My husband returned the following day to get some (and a couple more sausages). The cobbler was worth the wait! Staff is personable and friendly! We will definitely be back!
