In the past, I've had a mixed relationship with cook out. The food was never consistently good, but it wasn't terrible. Fast forward to post-pandemic and they are now remodeled. My family and I decided to give them another try. Pros: The service, the burgers, and the tea! The people were incredibly friendly, the tea was delicious with the perfect balance of sweet, and the burger was oozing out delicious melted cheese. Cons: Hush puppies were meh, the fries were floppy and not that great, and they no longer play Christian radio Overall, will do in a pinch for the burger and tea, but the rest I suppose depends on the day. I'm giving a 4 star just because of the service alone. read more

Line was moving slow and hurt my feelings so if you want cookout dont come from 12:00am to 4:00 am

Asked for 2 corn dog trays and when I got home and looked at the food they gave us to jr trays with no corn dogs

Tried to come again this time the black girl with the clear glasses was very rude and disrespectful and was acting like she didn't want to be there read more

This is the only place that you can get additional entrees as sides! I always get the "Tray" and choose a double cheeseburger as my entree, then for my sides either onion rings, fried cheese curds, or a quesadilla. Sometimes, I'll get a corn dog as a side. With the tray, you can get 2 sides. The shakes are also great. 45 flavors and too thick to use a straw. The drive thru is Chik-fil-A fast, the food is fresh, and the service and prices are good. Just one thing- they don't accept Amex. read more

On the way back from a graduation ceremony at Avarette University, we stopped for gas and while discussing where to eat, we saw the Cookout next door. Checked Yelp and saw good comments about the food and decided to get our meal there. Glad we fid! Contrary to some reviews, we had no trouble with the orders getting mixed up. That might have been because we went in instead going through the drive through window. Staff was friendly and helpful. We got what we ordered. We each got a Cookout tray special. $4.99 with a sandwich or burger plus two sides and a drink. I got a spicy chicken sandwich with cole slaw and a bacon wrap. Food was quite tasty and the bacon wrap was loaded with good bacon. We'd love to come back to this restaurant often but it's 355 miles away from us. If we are in southern Virginia or the Carolinas, we'll look for the Cookout chain. Would love for a franchise outlet to open in the Baltimore area some day :-) read more

Cook Out - The bacon wrap side is really loaded with good bacon! - Fast Food Near Me - Danville, Virginia

Pros: Good burgers, fries are tasty, prices are very reasonable and the takeout packing is excellent. They do an excellent job with the tin foil to keep the food fresh and crispy. This place is super busy towards the evening. The staff for the inside counter is really good. Drive thru line goes quick but beware.... Note to owner: The dining room AC is TOO COLD! 60 degrees is freezing for the avg person. Cons: The drive thru is horrible overall. Its purely a staff issue who ever runs it for that night. - If you dont like yellow cheese you gotta tell then! Example: you ask for a tray combo with a burger, they ask you what do you want on it, and you say lettuce pickles ketchup and tomatoes. You end up also getting CHEESE! Never fails, but if you order from the inside that doesn't happen. - They talk super fast and rush you. You end up asking to repeat what they said and on the third time they slow down and speak clearly. So you will waste time with the person behind the speaker box who hates their job apparently. - Ask for ketchup!! and make sure you say how many packets! They give you 1 packet if you dont say how many you need. - Ask for a fork! if you get the slaw. Otherwise you are eating with your hands. - Overall the staff for the drive thru is horrible. Its a shame. read more

Im not one to complain when buying CHEAP fast food. I mean it's cheap for a reason! I was in the drive thur the other night with my brother. I asked the lady if i could have just a second I guess this lady thought she had cut off her head set or something but we had been there maybe 20seconds and she said you need to hurry up please there are cars behind you. Im sorry what!? we then order our food and something to take home for our mother (about 30$ in food) when we get to the window the rude lady yanked my card out of my hand. She gave it back and when i asked for honey mustard she literally groaned and asked her co worker working on a milkshake to "come here now" the said said in a VERY hateful tone " the lady in the car needs honey mustard and i dont have time to get it" SHE JUST HAD TO TURN AROUND! the nice young man then gave me my honey mustard and tols me to have a great night. this girl working the driveway was so so rude and i called and no one would even talk to me so i have no clue what else todo! I understand that you are probably pissed that you are working a dead end job at 9:45 pm but act like ypu care a little please. I had been though a lot that day and you attitude didnt help one bit i went on Friday November 22,2019 read more

This place use real thick crispy bacon. We grabbed a burger here after the movies. I had a regular cheese burger with the 2 sides and a drink. Which is a great price. They didn't screw our order up like some of the reviews indicated. My burger and fries was good and I got the Bacon wrap ranch which included lots of bacon. As you can see l have a thing for bacon . It also was wrapped with the cheddar cheese and lettuce with the Ranch dressing. So delicious! The Specials also come with 2 sides and a drink for $5.00 You definitely can't beat that deal. I wish they had them in the Maryland area. Well wishful thinking. Nevertheless if given the opportunity l would definitely recommend and return. read more

I usually love this place but last night me and my family went and the cashier was so rude like while we were ordering our food in the drive through you could here him huffing and puffing like we were getting on his nerves or something then when we got home we started eating and my tray was right but when I got to my milkshake I asked for a mocha but instead I got a butterfinger one like what the heck. Then my brother got a SPICY chicken sandwich and a HONEY MUSTARD wrap but instead he got a REGULAR chicken sandwich and a RANCH wrap. Like bro you might not have been having a good night but at least make sure that peoples orders are ready like what the heck read more

I love the prices. The fried chicken is great here. Yes, it's not the healthiest of food choices, but it is satisfying and prices are reasonable. It's really popular in Danville. I can see why. One big problem is that it's always so full, sometimes the drive-through is impossible to even get into. On the positive side, if you can go when it's not busy and buzzing, the food is good and the price is right. Nothing fancy, just standard burgers, wraps, chicken fare, milkshakes, but way tastier than the bigger chain names competing on Riverside. One thing I would like to see is that they offer sturdier cups in the future. Big suggestion. Sometimes they are too flimsy and easily break and leak. If they could fix that, I would have little to criticize. Honestly, unless you're vegan or vegetarian, this is a great place to check out. At first, I wasn't sure it was my kind of food, but during the pandemic I used to drive through and grew to love it. read more

This Cookout is one of the newer ones that has an indoor dining area & a single drive-thru. It's located right next door to the Sheetz gas station on Riverside Dr. On my visits the food has been as good as any other Cookout I've been to. They have great chargrilled burgers & grilled chicken sandwiches, pretty good hot dogs & decent BBQ & BBQ sandwiches, the milkshakes ofcourse are outstanding. The drive-thru here seemed a bit slow on my visits, I think they were training new people. My last visit all I ordered was a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato & pickles & the lady on the speaker repeated my order back to me incorrectly, after I repeated my order to her 3 times & she repeated it back to me incorrectly all 3 times I finally just gave up & said "yes, that's correct" after her 3rd attempt to get it right, i could hear the 2 people in front of me placing their orders and they had the same confusion with the lady repeating different stuff than what they were ordering, it was actually kinda comical. When I got to the window they were teaching her how to run the register so I'll give them a pass this time. To my disbelief, my chicken sandwich was fixed the way I ordered it, but not how the order taker repeated it to me, go figure. read more

Twenty minutes to get a burger fries and drink. Workers just standing Aaron's looking off into space doing nothing.

this COOK OUT out treats there employees like there worthless. Over works them. Curses at them yell at them like there children. And on top of that if you put a TWO weeks notice in they DO NOT HONOR it. They literally made someone leave the store and told them they don't have a job anymore Just because they respectfully put there two weeks in. Wouldn't even let them work through the two weeks...And this was A TOP hard working employee!!!! Told them "just leave JUST LEAVE". And wouldn't tell them the 2 week notice policy cause supposedly the managers don't know what it is. Clara and padlock are disgusting and disrespectful as well. I have recording of them speaking bad to an employee otp. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. I need to speak to someone in corporate ASAP.! read more

They call a bag of dorito with taco ingredients in it a taco. This is a great insult to the great Mexican taco. This just doesn't sound downright misleading but ridiculous at best. This is FALSE ADVERTISING. read more

Cook Out - No sauce in my quesadilla - Fast Food Near Me - Danville, Virginia

This is the worst Cookout I've ever been to and one of the worst restaurants. I've been there religiously because the food taste good and its cheap, but 99% of the times I've been there, they have messed up my order. I ask every time I go for no pickle on my burger and they repeat it back to me. They even put no pickle on the receipt, but low and behold, there are always pickles on the burger. I just expect there to be pickles even though I ask for none. The confusion between grilled onions and regular onions is also an issue. Be careful if you dont want pickle, you will most likely get it. read more

Always friendly faces & prompt orders - so affordable. This is a Cook Out with an eat-in option. There is ample seating

I was craving a burger while working and cookout was the only burger place that actually sounded good. This is one of the updated cookout location/building. Went around 3 on a Tuesday. It was not crowded at all & no huge lines. My food came pretty quick along with a M&M milkshake. Cashier was pretty friendly & everyone greeted me with smiles. The burger was sloppy and tasted great. I will return if I'm in the area. read more

Cook Out - Big double burger w/cheese - Fast Food Near Me - Danville, Virginia

We choose Cookout because Yelp originally said they had dine-in....even though that wasn't the case and we had to eat in the car, our service and food was GREAT. Very surprised to see low stars read more

This cookout is very slow, They charge extra for chili and slaw for the hotdogs. 90cent per hot dog. So all of a sudden the $5 lunch jumps to $7. They also charge extra to put tomatoes on a hamburger, it's a shame they mislead you on the menu. They give you two sides but charge extra to put minor items on the burgers and hotdogs. I would be fine with one side item and no charge for basic stuff on the main lunch item. No where else in Danville charges extra for these items. Their fries and milkshakes are great. I've only been to this location twice and each time it makes me mad. I will not be going back. Too many other places to eat in Danville. read more

Do not eat here! They will get your order wrong EVERY TIME. Ask for plain? Better check cause it will be wrong. Ask for no pickle? It will be wrong. Say your allergic to onions? Better hope your not. This has to be the worst Cookout I have ever gone to. read more

First time having Cookout. Was down in the area for a wedding and decided to try it out. Good food served fast and insanely cheep! The people were also very friendly. This is one of the worst cookouts I've been to. Live in Danville for school, on a regular basis they have been giving me wrong orders, such as putting honey mustard on a ranch chicken wrap. Ordering a cookout style burger and then giving me only a burger that was half the size of the bun, only with onions and mustard. Fries are often old and wrinkly. read more

Meh. They were alright when they first opened. Slowly they gained better service, better food, and I never had an issue. But recently they are not so good. I'd say if I ate from them ten times a week, I'd get one good meal. 10% of the meals are fine. But they hog sauce packets now, they burn food, drinks are gross, and I rarely get the right shake. Tried and tried, but far from true. I keep two stars, though, because the workers are usually very sweet and polite. Also, they are slow. I've waited a few times over a half hour for one tray and drink. That's unacceptable. Meh. Just meh. read more

I live in Carolina and we have plenty of Cookouts but this cookout has to be the slowest one ever. Considering the fact that you have a drive thru and dine in. Service should not be so slow. They forgot to add all the condiments. I ordered a cajun chicken patty looked more like a half patty with buns. But the food was hot that was the only good thing read more

Repeatedly gotten our orders wrong. Ask for plain, and they don't even bother trying to make the order as you asked. They write the receipts correctly, and still have things on the burger asked to be taken off. This is ridiculous, check the food before you serve it to customers. It's happened nearly every time for the past several MONTHS and was a regular customer. Got a regular old cheeseburger, and they did not even put the cheese on the burger, it was on the foil and barely on a corner of the bun. How do you get a burger wrong? I used to chalk it up to them being busy or having a hard day, but to have it happen repeatedly tells me the employees do not care about their customers at all. Employ people who actually care and maybe we will be back. read more

I ve been to Cookouts n Carolina, the food here is not very good. Menu is misleading, listed half pound burger, sounds like a big burger. It's not, has 2 patties on it. Super fast! The food was great!! Also, Abby and Nikki, in the drive thru, were so friendly! I would definitely recommend!

The cookout in Danville is the newest and worst one I've ever been to. A while back I order a hamburger with no mustard and added cheese....when I got my order the burger had mustard and no cheese! I sent it back by the staff that was in the dining area. When she returned my sandwich it still had the same burger that I had bit off of and that still had a little mustard on it! They didn't even take inconsideration that I could have been allergic to mustard......I guess they were worried about saving money! My advice to the staff is......you can save money if you DO it right the first time and the customers won't have to return the order!! We pay and we want what we pay for! By the way you can save on some of that season you put on the season fries.....way too much season! read more

Burger was burn, small, and not as good as they used to be, Fries tasted like left over, Milk shake was not mixed up good
