In the past, I've had a mixed relationship with cook out. The food was never consistently good, but it wasn't terrible. Fast forward to post-pandemic and they are now remodeled. My family and I decided to give them another try. Pros: The service, the burgers, and the tea! The people were incredibly friendly, the tea was delicious with the perfect balance of sweet, and the burger was oozing out delicious melted cheese. Cons: Hush puppies were meh, the fries were floppy and not that great, and they no longer play Christian radio Overall, will do in a pinch for the burger and tea, but the rest I suppose depends on the day. I'm giving a 4 star just because of the service alone. read more

This is the only place that you can get additional entrees as sides! I always get the "Tray" and choose a double cheeseburger as my entree, then for my sides either onion rings, fried cheese curds, or a quesadilla. Sometimes, I'll get a corn dog as a side. With the tray, you can get 2 sides. The shakes are also great. 45 flavors and too thick to use a straw. The drive thru is Chik-fil-A fast, the food is fresh, and the service and prices are good. On the way back from a graduation ceremony at Avarette University, we stopped for gas and while discussing where to eat, we saw the Cookout next door. Checked Yelp and saw good comments about the food and decided to get our meal there. Glad we fid! Contrary to some reviews, we had no trouble with the orders getting mixed up. That might have been because we went in instead going through the drive through window. Staff was friendly and helpful. We got what we ordered. We each got a Cookout tray special. $4.99 with a sandwich or burger plus two sides and a drink. I got a spicy chicken sandwich with cole slaw and a bacon wrap. Food was quite tasty and the bacon wrap was loaded with good bacon. We'd love to come back to this restaurant often but it's 355 miles away from us. If we are in southern Virginia or the Carolinas, we'll look for the Cookout chain. Would love for a franchise outlet to open in the Baltimore area some day :-) read more

Pros: Good burgers, fries are tasty, prices are very reasonable and the takeout packing is excellent. They do an excellent job with the tin foil to keep the food fresh and crispy. Note to owner: The dining room AC is TOO COLD! 60 degrees is freezing for the avg person. Cons: The drive thru is horrible overall. Its purely a staff issue who ever runs it for that night. - If you dont like yellow cheese you gotta tell then! Example: you ask for a tray combo with a burger, they ask you what do you want on it, and you say lettuce pickles ketchup and tomatoes. You end up also getting CHEESE! Never fails, but if you order from the inside that doesn't happen. - They talk super fast and rush you. You end up asking to repeat what they said and on the third time they slow down and speak clearly. So you will waste time with the person behind the speaker box who hates their job apparently. - Ask for ketchup!! and make sure you say how many packets! Im not one to complain when buying CHEAP fast food. I mean it's cheap for a reason! I was in the drive thur the other night with my brother. This place use real thick crispy bacon. We grabbed a burger here after the movies. I had a regular cheese burger with the 2 sides and a drink. Which is a great price. They didn't screw our order up like some of the reviews indicated. My burger and fries was good and I got the Bacon wrap ranch which included lots of bacon. As you can see l have a thing for bacon . I love the prices. The fried chicken is great here. Yes, it's not the healthiest of food choices, but it is satisfying and prices are reasonable. It's really popular in Danville. I can see why. One big problem is that it's always so full, sometimes the drive-through is impossible to even get into. On the positive side, if you can go when it's not busy and buzzing, the food is good and the price is right. Nothing fancy, just standard burgers, wraps, chicken fare, milkshakes, but way tastier than the bigger chain names competing on Riverside. One thing I would like to see is that they offer sturdier cups in the future. Big suggestion. Sometimes they are too flimsy and easily break and leak. This Cookout is one of the newer ones that has an indoor dining area & a single drive-thru. It's located right next door to the Sheetz gas station on Riverside Dr. On my visits the food has been as good as any other Cookout I've been to. They have great chargrilled burgers & grilled chicken sandwiches, pretty good hot dogs & decent BBQ & BBQ sandwiches, the milkshakes ofcourse are outstanding. The drive-thru here seemed a bit slow on my visits, I think they were training new people. My last visit all I ordered was a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato & pickles & the lady on the speaker repeated my order back to me incorrectly, after I repeated my order to her 3 times & she repeated it back to me incorrectly all 3 times I finally just gave up & said "yes, that's correct" after her 3rd attempt to get it right, i could hear the 2 people in front of me placing their orders and they had the same confusion with the lady repeating different stuff than what they were ordering, it was actually kinda comical. When I got to the window they were teaching her how to run the register so I'll give them a pass this time. I've been there religiously because the food taste good and its cheap, but 99% of the times I've been there, they have messed up my order. I ask every time I go for no pickle on my burger and they repeat it back to me. They even put no pickle on the receipt, but low and behold, there are always pickles on the burger. I just expect there to be pickles even though I ask for none. The confusion between grilled onions and regular onions is also an issue. This cookout is very slow, They charge extra for chili and slaw for the hotdogs. 90cent per hot dog. So all of a sudden the $5 lunch jumps to $7. They also charge extra to put tomatoes on a hamburger, it's a shame they mislead you on the menu. They give you two sides but charge extra to put minor items on the burgers and hotdogs. I would be fine with one side item and no charge for basic stuff on the main lunch item. No where else in Danville charges extra for these items. Their fries and milkshakes are great. This is one of the worst cookouts I've been to. Live in Danville for school, on a regular basis they have been giving me wrong orders, such as putting honey mustard on a ranch chicken wrap. Repeatedly gotten our orders wrong. Ask for plain, and they don't even bother trying to make the order as you asked. They write the receipts correctly, and still have things on the burger asked to be taken off. This is ridiculous, check the food before you serve it to customers. It's happened nearly every time for the past several MONTHS and was a regular customer. Got a regular old cheeseburger, and they did not even put the cheese on the burger, it was on the foil and barely on a corner of the bun. How do you get a burger wrong? The cookout in Danville is the newest and worst one I've ever been to. A while back I order a hamburger with no mustard and added cheese....when I got my order the burger had mustard and no cheese! I sent it back by the staff that was in the dining area. When she returned my sandwich it still had the same burger that I had bit off of and that still had a little mustard on it! They didn't even take inconsideration that I could have been allergic to mustard......I guess they were worried about saving money! My advice to the staff is......you can save money if you DO it right the first time and the customers won't have to return the order!! We pay and we want what we pay for!
