I think...no, I KNOW, Melanie is dream team material! I always had a vision for the type of kitchen I wanted but my kitchen layout wasn't conducive to making that a reality. Day in and day out, I was not enjoying my cheesecake factory-like kitchen with venetian plaster, green granite, a peninsula, a curved island with raised bar, and major lack of storage! I originally contacted J&C and got a bid back in 2018 and when I dragged my feet, Melanje proactively reached out to me to see if she could help. I finally told her I really wanted to remodel but felt like my initial proposed design wasn't optimal but I really didn't know how to fix it (without relocating the entire kitchen). When I thought I'd have to hire a designer, she had me hold off and helped me navigate through the various challenges we were facing. Melanie went way above and beyond to listen, provide feedback, propose ideas, modify ideas, and work tirelessly until we had a good game plan. She even helped me narrow down my blue island color and I could not love my island more! She made my vision of a beautiful pinterest hood I found not only come to life but she made it even better by adding extra details! I showed her some inspo photos of a mudroom bench with cubbies. LOOMIS cabinets may have been a good cabinet company years ago, but Mike is unprofessional, unorganized and should hang it up if he can't handle this buisness anymore. It is now the end of April, and the project remains incomplete. Throughout the process, the experience has been disorganized. Details and agreed-upon action items were often forgotten. In addition, there have been eight no-shows and last-minute cancellations/rescheduling, including December 15, January 8, January 12, January 19, February 28, March 19, April 20, and April 27. Communication frequently defaulted to "we're very busy," which became a recurring excuse rather than a solution. Unfortunately, the quality has also been below expectations. The paint is already chipping, and certain design elements feel poorly thought out and executed. There were also issues during installation. Despite multiple requests, the installer was hesitant to properly protect the flooring, which resulted in a noticeable dent during the install. Overall, this has been a disappointing experience. I expected a much higher level of professionalism, organization, and craftsmanship for a custom cabinetry project

You hate the project and you hate the cabinet maker. You hate the painter. Obviously it's a little hyperbolic but... yeah. So just go in knowing you will "hate" everyone (unless you have a 2nd home you can move to) and you will have correct expectations of what this process entails. It's worth it though. With that in mind... we love our cabinets and the doors close softly and all the little dividers and drawers options they have. The cabinets are real wood and built to last. Very happy.

We researched all contractors in the Folsom, El Dorado Hills and Placerville areas and came up with three contractors who had (in our opinion) the most positive and consistent reputations. We had all three come out to our location to give us their ideas on what they would recommend including "out of the box concepts" in order to get this project correct the first time. All three reviewed our ideas, added their own opinions and later returned a few weeks later with detailed plans and pricing. Of the three, Barry's Kitchens (while not the biggest or most well-known), showed us a resume of quality installations while also giving us the impression that we would be their #1 priority. Barry, his wife Debbie, son Kyle and assistant John were everything we hoped for. To anyone who has ever undergone a complete remodel (we have done four), there are bound to issues with unknown items that are only "discovered" when you start tearing out walls, floors, etc. Barry and his team were always on top of every unexpected problem---they were extremely responsive and capable of handling every new situation. Even ones that were unfortunately their issue---they accepted responsibility and went over and above to make sure we were happy with the outcome. I cannot tell you how many times I reached out about items that weren't their responsibility and they still dropped everything to come out and fix it to keep the project on-time. Another benefit of Barry and Debbie are that they have been around for decades and are very willing to give their opinion---but only when asked. They don't try to overwhelm you with their opinion---rather, we found ourselves using their expertise to talk us out of dumb ideas (like a cutting board over an internal garbage can, changing the heights of vanities and expanding the overall space in the kitchen), that proved very wise. His list of subcontractors to do electrical, flooring, countertops, painting, etc. were all professional and timely. The final item I would point out is that Barry and his team delivered a high-quality project that was on-time, not a "cookie-cutter" kitchen like you see everywhere these days---and most importantly---did all this while staying on budget! No question: if we were to do another project tomorrow---we would hire this team in a second!
