Great School and helpful stuff, especially Jennifer Villalobos and Alberto Campos! They were very responsive, helped me with application and course material, scheduled my classes, and encouraged with good advices. Great online classes in combination with printed material helped me to pass my both B general License exams from the first attempt. All together it took me 6 weeks from the application to passing exams. I highly recommend this school, mostly because of their great stuff! read more

I purchased the practice tests. The website constantly goes down. Was down for around 24 hours at one point. While you are doing the practice tests it constantly freezes and you have to click the answer over and over to get it to move forward (my internet connection is over 200Mbps so more than enough to load a multiple choice test). It constantly gives you error codes and brings up 404 not found pages, 502 bad gateway pages, and when it does analysis it always says it is an issue with the CSLS website. I mentioned it on the chat on their website one day after it had happened a few times and they didn't respond for quite some time and when they did respond all the said was something like "the website is back up" and nothing else. The next day it went down again around the same time and I asked about it in the chat again and mentioned that it had happened around the same time the day before and their answer was something like "just be patient, it will be back up in a bit". Never apologized or gave any explanation. When it had been down for 24 hours I called their customer service line and when I told the woman who answered the phone that the website was down she said something like "it's back up now" (as if I would be calling if it was up). I refreshed my page and big surprise it was still down. I said "I just refreshed the page and it is still down". After I said that she said nothing and disconnected me. Seriously what is going on with this place??? Website always down, people telling you to "just be patient", never apologizing, disconnecting you without saying anything. Definitely won't use them again. read more

Came in to start my courses and had the pleasure of dealing with Julio Avila. He helped me set everything up and explained every question i had. Great experience overall. read more

Don't do it. Don't pay TONS of money to have some person (not a trained intructor) read to you from the code book. You can read it yourself. I took 2 coarses and bothe were LAME! Never went over any questions with the professional they hired to read to us and wasted so many hours just sitting there BORED out my mind when we could have been utilizing his knowledge to review practice questions. Everything is left to you and they don't really help with anything. Customer service is nice though. Lots of promises no delivery. read more

Don't waste your time. I have Had Good Luck with their services, until I didn't. I expected them to be stand up and live up to their words, but alas, they won't. I have achieved 2 licenses with them. The third I missed by 5 points. The day before the exam I checked the testing site for required/allowable materials. They required the main text/code book. Coolness, I know it front and back. AND two other manuals??? What the ever living fuk!!?? I contacted the school and they blew it foof as don't worry there is only one question of that material on the test. WRONG, 10. Sigh ok, here now is where the school has Really Fukked up. They used to have an intro message on their voice intro on the phone (paraphrasing it) "Welcome to Contractor State Licensing School, where we gaurentee a 99% passing rate, for your exam the First time, or we pay for the next" I contacted my Counselor after my failure, yes 70% is a Fail. After my exam. Nothing, no reply at all. Emailed. Texted, Called the School. NOTHING for TWO weeks. I got ahold of Graig this morning.. Oh your Counselor has been out for personal reasons.. OK I can accept that. When i broached the subject about the retest fee, Oh no no no, We don't do that, no no no, we only gaurentee that you can pass OUR tests the first time and find the answer in 90 seconds, What???????? What the ever living fuk does that mean? and What would? How/ why? would pay for another test? That makes NO FKKG Sense?? Nope CSLS does not stand by their word. Don't trust them at all. Apparently when you stumble they do not stand by their word to help you up. Oh, and they changed their intro message now. And I didn't record it. That's what i get for Trusting them read more

Waste of money. The review materials and practice tests are extremely dated.. it seemed like the practice tests and review materials were pertinent to the 1970-80's. Update your content and correct the many spelling, ambiguities and grammatical errors or give up the business. Practice test questions have wrong answers that just leave you scratching your head and leave you second guessing yourself. None of the review materials or practice tests were relevant to the actual test. I passed, no thanks to this rip off course! Do better or stop stealing people's money. TOTAL SCAM!! read more

When I first went to csls it was great I've done everything they asked me to I faxed and emailed everything they asked me to I didn't hear from them until a month later was told to rewrite my work experience and I did but when I call or email I don't get a call back or I get an email saying that they can't get to my email at this time it's amazing how I got a response when I was trying to find out if I rewrote everything right but they can't tell me if I did it correctly I've called the west Covina school and they pick up and hang up they took my money with no problem but when I tried to get feed back unfortunately there is a problem they are supposed to return a call in 24 hours it's been two weeks and no return call back I feel like I'm being ripped off and I'm unfortunately I'm still dealing with the csls from my point of view this is not a professional business , I'm still dealing with this school so far my experience is very upsetting read more

Julio was a great help with the process of registering!

Walked in this morning to the Eagle Rock office with my Mom, we were immediately approached by a smiling face, Ray. It was my first time visiting the location/ school, so I had a lot of questions, Ray made it easy and was thorough in all his explanations. He honestly went above to make sure that we got everything we were asking for, even checking on license's that we weren't so sure about to make certain that we got what we needed. I left overly excited about starting! Thanks for the help Ray! read more

This was best move I made in my life, First of all thanks to Dionicio and Maria for helping me with all the admin forms. The best thing with this school is that there are online practice tests for the trade and the law. For myself I work such long hours that it gives me the freedom to practice on my laptop wherever I am and at any time that's convenient. Thanks Guys now I am a licensed contractor read more

This school is a complete scam. They are there to take your money and not teach you anything. They have old material that will not help you pass the state exam. They find every single way to charge you money. I had to review my application with a counselor, but was told that would cost me money. They would never reach out to me and when I tried calling them they would never call me back even after a voicemail. This is not a school, a complete SCAM! Stay away from them. read more

I sought help from Ray and Tatiana at the Eagle Rock office. Their help and knowledge allowed me to sail through the process of adding classifications to my existing C-27 license. She made a follow up call after 3 weeks to check on my progress right through the Live Scan fingerprinting. Their guidance made the entire process seamless for me. THANK YOU ~ THANK YOU ! read more

Awful experience so far. They signed me up for a bilingual classes even though I dont speak Spanish. Have yet to follow up with me on them. And now they are asking me to pay a 100 dollar extension to finish my application. Do not waste your money on this place. read more

This place is wonderful for sure! Especially TATIANA! The courses here are very helpful and effective when it comes to passing the test. Both instructors are excellent at explaining all material they are teaching. They don't rush through the information and once classes were over, I definitely new more than I had prior. I am going to recommend them to anyone who is looking to pass there state exam and again thank you so very much TATIANA!!! You rock! read more

So I've been working in construction for about 10 years now and finally decided to get my B license. I was googling Contractor schools and CSLS was the first one that popped up. Most reviews that I read were positive which led me to take the chance and get on board with them. Julio contacted me and was able to sign me up right away. He was very professional and informative. If you're looking for a great school, you've found it. read more

Once they sign you up you are on your own - this is essentially a self study course where they sell you overpriced materials in a PDF that you print on your own. We seriously spent the first 30 minutes of the 1st 2 classes listening to students complaining about the same thing. the online instructor doesn't know his facts - students are correcting him, The following was promised and has not been provided. Access to online lectures and videos Printed materials for both Law & Trade Technical assistance to access the above content Returned phone calls in spite of numerous assurances that I would receive follow up They have not responded to numerous phone calls nor have they provided the online or over the phone support as I was assured. read more

If you are interested in becoming a contractor I would strongly recommend this school. Make sure you talk to Ray Munoz. He is the best in the business and his customer service is remarkable. I had a really good experience working with CSLS (C-10). I had a couple of big hiccups in my schedule, and they handled everything smoothly. THE best thing to do is constantly update and keep your counselor informed of what's going on in your life, and they'll work it out. I bugged the hell out of mine--Shout out to my counselor Rosanna! UPDATE!!! - 3rd review Mr Santana just called me back minutes from my 2nd post. He promised a couple of things and i said i shall be reviving a something in the mail within 5 days! I will keep you updated as soon as i receive this to confirm his resolution and make you all aware of the conclusion of this matter. I hope i obtain this document before the 5 days to update this review and see the positive side of this location! will update soon!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . update!! - 2nd review minutes after my post here on yelp i had mr santa contact me and he went over my case from the start. he had no idea of what the problem was and had me explain it all over again. (those several days he took to look into the matter weren't very useful i see) he went on to say he will try to upkeep the school's reputation and will look into refunding me only - - - - - - - $300 - - - - - - - out of over $800 i payed for adrian gonzales mistake. he claims there were cost involved to have me attend a math review class that pretty much reminds you how to add subtract and divide. (ridiculous) and other evening classes that don't cover anything off hand they just review book work what you should have worked during the week. he also claimed the book (not books) one 3 ring binder with paper copies of the original/master book was very expensive to make and it will also cut in into that balance. i told him the book was in perfect condition! no papers where written on nor destroyed. the dvd's that come in that book, which is a general c-36 (that any other student can use) where in their original casing and had not 1 scratch in them. all he said was; "nah, those are your books!" i told him i would not settle for $300 for such a horrible customer experience and poor schooling.! (read other reviews about this place! other students say its horrible schooling as well) he than began to mention how they can uphold the contract i singed and not offer me anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a contract i singed in hopes of a better financial future and self employment freedom. a contract i was tricked into signing by their sales rep who i'm sure enjoyed his commission very much!!!! he wants me to forfeit over $500 over a copy binder and poor schooling. i did not agree. i told hm i would settle for $700 for their mistake and not a cent less! and i wont!! it is unacceptable! adrian gonzales should pay those used up fee's for not doing his job the right, honest, and honorable way!!! mr. santana will call me today at 5pm pacific (so he said). he will look into trying to get those $700 approved and will give me a call back as a result. i hope he honestly tries his best cause i wont settle for less and only than can i and all my yelp readers see the customer satisfaction they have and how they can act accordingly to a mistake of one of their own and make it right! the honest way!! don't be money hungry and have it stain your reputation!! will keep you updated soon! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . PEOPLE! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! deceptive/dishonest, money-back guarantee!!! READ THIS REVIEW!!! YOU WONT REGRET IT!! IT WILL HELP YOU!! The details are too long to post on a review but will do it further along. I was cheated into enrolling at this place by a counselor name Adrian Gonzales. (Stay away form enrolling with him.) know, I was looking forward to obtain my license and studied really really hard until the moment came to fill out my state application, which was when this place couldn't help me and had figured out one of their own had done a mistake in enrolling me. I was offered to LIE to the CALIFORNIA STATE LICENSE CONTRACTORS BOARD by a counselor named Claudia at the van nuys office. After they couldn't help my case they transferred me to a guy by the name of MARIO SANTANA who's an executive director for this place. Mr.Santa had me email him a detailed message regarding my situation, where of course, i asked for a refund. He has been ignoring me since his first reply about 2 weeks ago from today. I called him and they wont let me talk to him. THIS IS MY FIRST REVIEW..!! STAY TUNE. I WILL KEEP ON UPDATING THIS COMMENT AS THIS PROCESS GOES FORWARD AS I'M CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR LEGAL ASSISTANCE. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL RESOLVE THIS ISSUE SOON AND WILL KEEP YOU POSTED read more
