Since starting the Pharmacy Technician program in June I have had a great experience and nothing but good things to say about my journey at this school. From the start my counselor Jeannette was extremely kind and informative when talking to me about the program before I started and helped in making my entry a smooth one. During lockdown in 2020 I began looking into a career shift and started looking into different schools and colleges. The people at NWC were very friendly and quick to respond. They answered all my questions in a timely manor. Three years later I decided to take the plunge and signed up for the Pharmacy Tech course. The school invited me in to tour the campus and see the lab, everyone was very friendly and responsive at all times. While the class was 3 days a week over zoom, the one day lab (every Wednesday) in person was my favorite day. Teaching works so much better in person than over zoom. I feel like I used that time wisely, got all my questions answered and was able to access every test. Whatever career path you choose, it's up to you to commit the time to it. North West College has helped me become successful and educated in many ways. I could say the best part of this program was my Dental Assisting Professor "Ms.G". She has a persistent character to push you to learn in all aspects. She focused on my weak areas to help me achieve. Buyer beware! I took the Medical Billing and Coding class at this campus in 2019. I have a list of complaints but my main concern is that Mrs. Saleh is not qualified and trained to teach the class. She is an M.A. not a Medical Biller and Coder, she has never done Billing and Coding as a profession. Because of her lack of knowledge and qualification the class focus was on Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, not MIB. When it came to Billing and Coding we were told not to worry about practicing and learning, that our job would teach us how to bill and if we ever needed to find a code we could just Google it. If you took this class prior to 2020 you were supposed to have had access to something called a Sim Chart. I bet you didn't because we didn't. The only reason I know it exists is because I happened to notice a piece of paper in one of the books that said students should create an account and log into Evolve, Sim Chart. When I tried to do that it said I needed a class code. I asked Mrs. Saleh for the class code but she said she had no idea what that was. I continued to ask over several months her answer was always the same, she didn't know what the website or class code was, she had never been on the website and basically didn't care to find out. After I insisted Rick got the code for me two weeks before graduating although I still had no idea what it was, just understanding it was something connected to the book that was supposed to help us learn. It wasn't until after I graduated I found out what was missed. The Sim Chart provides 62 hours of hands on training and experience in Coding and Billing, Clinical and Front Office. If you took Mrs. Saleh class and did not receive access, I suggest you file a complaint with the BPPE and ACCSC because you did not get the education you paid for. You did not get a "teacher with three years of actual work experience in the Medical Billing and Coding field "as claimed that you would on page 1 and page 97 of the school brochure. You did not get a teacher who had been "oriented in workshops and meetings to help keep skills current" as claimed on page 1 of the brochure. (Mrs. Salehs skills are not current. Medical Billing and Coding is done online these days but Mrs. Saleh had no idea how to log into the online billing, much less do the online billing, that certainly makes her unqualified to teach the online billing.) The Sim chart is considered class lab equipment so that means that you did not receive access to the lab equipment specified as "having been chosen so that students would be adequately equipped with equipment used in the field" on page 7 of the brochure or get any of the "hands on experience on the computer" that page 59 of the brochure promises. You also had no access to the use of the "program specific equipment and supplies of the Medical Billing and Coding classroom" as specified on pages 9 and 10 of the brochure, specifically the "Office Productivity Software and the Electronic Health Record Simulation." I can't believe there was no oversight of teacher qualifications, classroom activities or whether curriculum was being followed. I have many more complaints about the way this class was run with the campus director and corporate and the lack of integrity that exists, of the teacher in giving the students questions and answers to tests before they were taken and the claim on page 21 of the NW brochure that states they work with a network of Drs, clinics, hospitals to help students with job placement. Honestly this class is not a good class, and judging from the way the school handles things it's not a good school either. You will not get hands on experience by an experienced teacher in the Medical Billing and Coding field if Mrs. Saleh is teaching and you will not get a staff who cares about your education, they seem to care about shuffling you through just long enough to collect your money. I wish someone would've written a review so that I would've known. It's a lot of money to spend, it's not money spent wisely here. read more

Where to begin, I would like to start off with Mrs. Alex, our receptionist. Every morning through our roughest first day of Monday's and the last day of our week on Thursday's I give the biggest applaud and praise to this beautiful woman. She's always positive, saying "Good morning's!" to start off with our day and she's always killing it with her sense of style and her glamorous shoes. I love her energy and the smiles she gives. It gives me so much good vibes. She's always cheerful and keeping a positive attitude with everyone she encounters. I love the fact how much she cares and how much she does her best to get everything done. (and she does) She wont ever disappoint you. You will not find anyone like Alex and I'm really glad she's a part of our school. Thank you for the laughs and small talks we have to get the day going. True MVP. Love you Alex! Now second, Mrs. Briselda Fergoso, aka Mrs. B! I would like to say that she's one of the uniquest teachers you'll meet. Going to class every morning, starting with lecture, notes, lab, quiz, etc. She will keep you busy. But to be honest it's just not all about that. It takes a teacher to have the drive, the motivation and most of all the passion to teach. Mrs. B is all that. I've never had a teacher who not only cares for her students success but cares for them as a human being. Anyone can do their job, just because. No, not Mrs. B. She does what it takes to guide us. She makes learning interesting, and fun at the same time. But of course, there's a time and place for everything. It's not all about fun and games. She may be strict when it is needed, but she's fair. I'm honestly thankful for having a teacher like Mrs. B. She will not fail you. Trust me, if you ask Mrs. B to give you her 100% she will give you her 110%. That's how devoted she is. She will not give up on you. This college is the ridiculous. I've graduated as a MIB but absolutely not happy with them. Our teacher Mrs.Hedie was such a nice and kind lady who does everything for her students but the staffs were not really good, right after you singed up for the any courses the scenario will change, in the beginning they don't make you clear with the school policy and they keep changing the policy without letting you know. Before you sign up for the course they keep pushing you bothering you to convince you that they're the best, but after they even refusing to answer your questions. I would say this school and staffs never care about students and their educational level they just care about how they make money and their commission. Dear Mr Beylor, What you have been told is not true. I have emails upon emails asking who I can write to to express my disappointment to Leanna and Andrew about the program. I was told I'd receive a form at the end of the program to express how I felt and never did. When I went out I'm my externship, I knew NOTHING! Nothing we were taught was what they were teaching in the offices. It goes way beyond my lessons even. Connie was great, but again I'd be happy to send you the emails that I sent to Leanna and Andrew. I also never received my CPR card which I had to come in for 2 nights while I was told it would be 1. Yes Leanna has been great and so was Andrew when he knew his info. I missed a scholarship possibility which I really needed because noone had info on it. I had to write the essay the day after it was due! I had been asking for 2 weeks. But your admissions crew knew nothing about the program. Maybe you need to teach them about your online program facts and not to just sell the school? Connie was great but it's not her fault that your not selling the program the way it should be offered. read more

I'm so grateful for this institute! I was a 25 year old woman with no direction before I decided to enroll into the dentist assisting program, and it changed my life completely. I finished the program in less than a year and am now working full-time at a great dental office. I'm still student of DA at north west college. Been here for almost 3months now. First of all the 5 star goes to the teacher of DA (Ms G.)who does not have enough equipment, or medical supplies but she will do anything to teach you everything,she has a lot of experiences. So this rating goes to her not the college. If your looking for a fancy college with fancy stuff this college is not for you. The other staff, honestly they are not organize.the restroom smells bad and cafeteria is dirty. But I'm not here for this stuff I'm here to learn something. This place is ridiculous. I am trying to drop the online course and I went in several times to explain to them that I was just not getting it. Turns out they started me late in the class and told me "There is no beginning and no end!" doesn't make any sense to me. I have never done vocational college like most new students so I didn't know the learning structure. They finally explained it to me AFTER they took my money and then say "Well it's called non-traditional education for a reason. Ha Ha" Well guess what, no one has ever explained these things to me prior to my enrollment soooo thanks for making me feel like an idiot. If I knew how this school works I wouldn't have applied. The learning structure is completely disorganized and they never have a straight answer to your questions. I ask black and white questions and get gray answers. Also they ask for feed back but when given to them it's like they don't really care about your opinion and make it as if you don't know what you're talking about. Why do you say you love feed back if you can't take constructive criticism? I tell them " I don't even know the definition of a medical biller." and they said if it's not on a test don't worry about it. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT?!?!? Don't worry about knowing the definition of your career? Now that I have been trying to drop, they made me speak to about 4 different people and I had questions that are STILL not answered. They aren't able to confirm what they have told me over the phone so I learned to get everything in writing and now that I am guess what? THEY ARE IGNORING MY EMAILS. I have to email them EVERYDAY maybe twice just to get a response. They are all nice and helpful when you enroll but after that you are left to survive on your own. Completely unprofessional. Okay before I start, @Missy S., if you look at her total of 3 reviews, she gave ALL three, 1 star...hater...also doesn't know what she's is talking about. I will further explain. To begin with her dilemma of being too expensive, no one is asking you to join the school, you willingly join, considering your financial situation. On top of that, the school does its best to help you save money, you can write an essay that will save you 2k, you can get a loan with a respecitvely good interest rate, you can apply for fafsa, etc... either way there are ways you can get help, (I personally know two people who are saving practically 5k off their tuition...) and again, if you know you can't afford it then don't join so you don't complain about the price/struggle...common sense. If you have an attitude about the employees at this school not being magicians, then you can understand that you have to put it effort from your own end in order to achieve what you want. If you actually help your counselors rather than relying on them for your every need, things get handled a lot better and faster. Wendy tries hard to help A LOT of students join a good interneship and work their way from there, a lot of people end up getting hired after their internships, again though, its about your attitude, the more you try and care, the better for you. Besides all this, if you are here to land a job, this school is not for you. This school is here to educate people in the field they wish to learn, and help people achieve a career. So that you can apply your knowledge for something you actually care about and enjoy. As to my experience here.... Well let me say it was not exactly what I expected, but not in a bad way at all. I am taking the medical insurance billing program and will be primarily speaking on that. My teacher is awesome! She's sweet, kind, extremely smart, and has a lot of experience in different areas of the field. She does everything to help you pass, if you apply yourself in and out of the classroom, there is no excuse why you shouldn't understand and even succeed. For a coding/billing job you can expect to learn Anatomy, CTP, ICD, insurance and other technical subjects/terminilogy; all of which are being covered so far. (I am almost 7 months in). So the education is there, that's if you care enough to learn it and apply it to your future. The location is fine, the facility could be better, I'll give that 4 starts, but honestly, you're not sleeping here. You're coming to class for about 4 -5 hours and learning. They are perfect for who you need. In my perspective the worst part about the hardware of the school are the keyboards for the computers, just those buttons drive me crazy, but I'm not complaining... Overall, I think people have the wrong expectation when coming to this school. In general if you go to, mostly, any community college, you will not expect anything close to the opportunities that you get at NWC. They give you a solid foundation to the health field and the intimate setting helps you even more as a student, letting you have direct access to teachers and tutoring and all sorts of other perks. Of course this all comes with a cost, but if you work hard and find yourself a job, (the school does help), you can pay back your loans in a fear amount of time. P.s. I remember being all confident that its only 9 months and then im off to starting a great career but after seeing how my medical billing and coding instructor teaches, im F**ked lol. I even talked to the campus director "Rick" or whatever his name is about the issue and he tried covering it up of how shes been here for years and shes experience. THE HELL SHES NOT! i just dont have the time to look for another school but if if you decide to come here make sure you request for online billing because im sure you're going to learn more on your own rather than losing braincells with the "Experience" MBC techer.
