If you're looking for a budget painter / stainer and a cheap looking job, Erik IS NOT your guy. His bid came in a fair bit higher than others we got, but we went with him on the recommendation of the real estate agent that sold us our house. Erik delivered a top notch job. Our decks probably had not been sanded since the house was built 16 years ago, and he promised they would look like new when he was done, and they did! Every screw was removed and either put back in or replaced. The house was bleached before he restained it, and the end product is beautiful. As I drive through the neighborhood and look at other Tahoe Donner homes that have been retained, it's easy to see that our end product is considerably better. Again, not cheap, but the quality of the job is impeccable. read more

A couple weeks later and no response from Erik. I have emailed 3 times and texted several times with no response. I really don't mind if someone says they don't want the work, but to not respond or call back is pretty poor business practice. read more

We recently hired Contract Painting to paint the interior of our 3,000 square foot home in Truckee, as well as, to stain the exterior. We found Eric Nyborg, and his crew, to be highly professional and time sensitive to our needs. Eric selected most of the colors for the interior and he is really good at it. My wife and I love the way it looks. As for paint quality, we specified the brand, and that is what was used. As for touch-up, Eric came out immediately and touched up everything we might have scratched when moving furniture back in to the rooms. As for cleanliness, a professional window washer was provided, at no cost to us, to remove any debris after the exterior of the house was stained. The inside of the house was left spotless. As for project completion time, the house was painted in the timeframe promised. I am very happy with my experience with Contract Painting and would highly recommend them. Eric did our house in Northstar several weeks ago. I had several bids and what I liked about Eric's bid was that he was clear that he was going to put 2 coats of stain on the house. We scheduled the work and Eric stayed in communications with me and started the day he said he would. His guys did a great job, prepared the house the way it should be done, stayed with the job till completed and cleaned up. Erik is an easy-going, professional who does top-notch work. His attention to detail is evident in his commercial proposals and his finished product. I've worked with Contract Painting for about 10 years, and they've done fantastic painting on the exterior and interior of our house. Erik takes the time to listen and walk through projects with you and he provides good advice and solutions, all while being flexible on new ideas throughout the process. I've seen other comments here about timely responses but to be fair to Erik, the market in Tahoe is ridiculous now. Erik was upfront about this at the start and gave me guidance on timing. He let me know he was very busy and booked for a long time so we were able to work out a schedule and project timeline that worked for both of us. We decided to use Eric and contract painting because we loved the way our neighbors house turned out after he painted it. Everything started great and Eric was easy to deal with and make arrangements with. He gave us a fair quote and gave us add on options (windows, driveway...). The trouble began with us leaving to take our son to a baseball game while the crew power washed the house. We left the doors unlocked and told them to go into the house as need be. The power washing made us nervous, but Eric said they always check in the house to make sure the doors and window frames don't leak. When we returned late that evening we found that the water had leaked through the sliding glass door and soaked through our bamboo floors all the way to the downstairs floors. Tons of water! Several of our boards were warped and damaged. Eric came over the next day and had some guys sand it and try to repaint them, but a year and a half later they are still competently ruined... to the point where every time I walk past them I get a sick feeling in my stomach. Do not have the money to replace or refinish my entire living room so for now we have to live with. In the end we were very pleased with the outside of the house, just wish the inside hadn't been ruined in the process. read more

Erik painted our cabin in Alpine Meadows in 2015 and did such great work that I didn't hesitate to call him back in 2017 to paint our new condo at Squaw Valley. Erik did an AMAZING job with our project. He took a dirty, dark interior wood plank wall to ceiling surface and turned it into a light, bright, good-as-new surface.
