Angry P.

I would give them no stars. My son has multiple health conditions and was referred to their Pain Management Department. To begin with their Department consists of one person, Sara Richey Lucero. I went with my son to the consultation and was appalled by the conduct of this individual. She is an older woman (71 years old) who was more than 45 minutes late in seeing him. She started off the exam by wanting details on his sex life. She wanted intimate details on my life, his father's s life, and brother's death. She also wanted to know about his work. Because of health conditions he has not been working. She chastised him stating that if people in wheelchairs can work there was no excuse for him not to work. She further stated that he was lucky he was not living on the streets and admonished me for allowing him to live in my home. I won't go into further detail but her questions and judgemental attitude were ethically inappropriate. She concluded the exam by stating that, regardless of what medical conditions may be involved, pain is purely psychiatric in nature and due to lack of exercise. She indicated that people with pain issues need to be treated with psychotherapy, acupuncture, and "herbal" treatment if you get my drift. I looked into her after the exam and will just say she should not be practicing in this area and is a hypocrite in her judgments. DO NOT GO TO THIS PROVIDER.

First off... I feel so torn writing this review... because Amber is absolutely the BEST and I want…read moreto keep that a secret but she deserves it -- Amber is our absolute FAV massage therapist because she's holistic, incredibly intuitive, and just an all around incredible human being. We chose her initially for my wife's pregnancy to entrust someone to give her prenatal massage and Amber was the absolute best. You really want someone who knows what they're doing because of how sensitive the body is and Amber is a mom herself and knows how it feels. For me, I like deep tissue and Amber is SO GOOD at it and doesn't hurt the muscles, some deep tissue is totally off base and they go into areas and damage more than they help but Amber is right on the money. She's a healer, an extraordinary person, and we're SO excited for her new spot, we used to have her come by all the time when she had a mobile setup but now looking forward to going into her new sanctuary!!

I like how she knows a variety of techniques as well as energy work. Not many people around do cranial sacral balancing. Her touch is gentle yet profound at the same time. I feel like every time I'm getting a session. It feels like a warm hug from my best friend. I have been seeing her for a few years now and was pleasantly surprised this last week when I stepped into her New Spa oasis in downtown Walnut Creek. I always joke with her that she can be an interior designer. Because everything is top-notch. Don't think just because she does Swedish and lymphatic drainage that her deep tissue is weak. Her deep tissue knocks my knots right out. If you're looking for a high-quality Massage, this is the place you need to book. One of the best parts about her new location is that it includes free parking.

Breastfeeding was a disaster, from my low milk supply, baby being tongue tied, mastitis, the wrong size flanges for the breast pump that Kaiser gave me. Lisa helped me with homeopathic remedies, support, and information about medications that others have found useful (she does not prescribe or give specific medication dosing advice for prescribed medications). I don't know that I will be able to breastfeed, but it isn't for lack of trying, and Lisa made me feel better, that I have done everything humanly possible and if I can't it's not because I didn't give it my all. I highly recommend using her service. She is responsive, kind, reassuring, and just a lovely person who wants you and your baby to be healthy and strong. She loves babies and respects mamas. What could be better?

If you are wanting to hire a doula or have extra support, definitely hire Lisa. When my husband…read moreand I found out we were pregnant, I knew I wanted to have a doula assist with the birth. I also knew that I wanted to have a natural birth and that doulas could be a great assistance in reaching this goal. I spent a lot of time emailing doulas, a lot of them. Lisa was only one of a couple I heard back from. She responded promptly and was willing to work around our busy/late night schedule to set up an interview. Once we interviewed, I knew that I wanted to hire her. My husband was more apprehensive and had difficulty spending the money when he felt he would be helpful and not need a doula. However, he knew how much it meant to me and went with it. Throughout the pregnancy, we received so much useful information from Lisa. Any questions I had, she was always available to answer them. Towards the end of my pregnancy I had high blood pressure and my doctor wanted to induce me because of concerns regarding my blood pressure. I knew that it would be very difficult to have a natural birth with being induced but felt confident that given the support, I would be able to do it. I ended up having three different types of inducement measures, cervidil, a balloon, and pitocin. My labor was incredibly difficult, with a recommendation of an epidural discussed twice and a c-section discussed once. Lisa saved me from having to have any of this done. She suggested two specific positions to utilize while having contractions that are never done in hospitals. My doctor worked with Lisa and was willing to have Lisa try them with me. These positions saved me from having a c-section and made my goal of having a natural birth possible. She was not only available and there for me during my pregnancy and labor & delivery but afterwards as well. I have asked so many questions regarding breastfeeding and other things and she has always been available for me. She responds promptly to me and is constantly checking in on me (my baby was born 8 days ago). I cannot say enough positive things about Lisa. Hire her as your doula, it will be the best decision you can make. Following the delivery, my somewhat skeptical husband prior to labor and delivery said that it was worth all of the money we spent. He said hiring Lisa was one of the best decisions we made during this process. That, to me, says it all. Hire Lisa.

After reading a bunch of reviews both on Yelp and Google, they seemed all over the place. It's a good thing I chose to ignore some of the feedback and gave Spavia a chance. Booking the appointment was really seamless. The front desk was friendly and helpful in providing information as well as suggesting some massage therapists who could be a good fit. I made a point to fill all my necessary forms ahead of time then ensured I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment (as they instruct) to get situated before my massage. The facilities at Spavia were nice, relaxing, and clean. They even provide neck warmers for you to put on in the waiting room before your treatment which was such a nice touch. The massage itself was amazing. Before my treatment started Muammer went through all of the requests from the intake form to ensure he understood my preferences. Throughout my massage he did check-ins for pressure and gave me a heads of on what he would work on next which made me feel super comfortable. I do a lot of traditional weight training and my muscle really need to be worked on. To say that Muammer kicked my behind in the best possible way is an understatement. His massage technique and pressure was on-point! A bunch of knots that were causing so much tension melted away and I walked out of the appointment with my body feeling rejuvenated! Something that struck me as odd were the number of reviewers complaining about not getting their full treatment time. It had me worried that my services would be cut off early. Rest assured this absolutely DID NOT happen and Muammer gave me the full treatment time as booked. I think that when you actually show up on-time with the necessary grace period before your appointment like you're supposed to, you get serviced appropriately. Coming to Spavia was a real treat and I can't wait to book another appointment in the future!

The front desk staff was very helpful -- walking me through the consent forms, showing me the changing area, and helping me set the password for my locker. After changing, you're given a robe and slippers. The robe is incredibly soft and almost weighted, which added to the comfort. It even has pockets for your jewelry or glasses. Phones are not allowed in the treatment area, and no video/photo is permitted past the changing room, which I appreciated (and respected) for privacy. The facial itself was extremely relaxing. The music was at the perfect volume, and the room lighting was dim without being too dark -- just enough to enhance the experience. The service included a hand and arm massage with hot stones and warm compresses, which was such a nice touch. One minute I was getting a scrub, and the next I was waking up -- it was that relaxing. They also have a retail area at the front where you can purchase the products used during your service. Overall, a wonderful first spa experience. I'm already looking forward to booking my second facial and trying other services they offer. 100% would recommend

I loved reading about Shannon's journey to Islam and birth work, and how her faith and spirituality intertwined with her midwifery care. I also enjoyed reading the compelling birth stories and the beautiful way in which she writes about birth. I especially felt connected to her book as a Muslim woman who was curious about homebirth, but wasn't sure if it was for me. Once I finished the book and had my first appointment with Shannon I felt confident, reassured, and excited about having a homebirth for my first baby. Since the start of my prenatal care with Shannon, I felt so comforted by the amount of time and personalized care she dedicated to us by listening to our concerns, answering our many questions, and providing the guidance we needed during this special time in our life. Her level of knowledge and expertise combined with her warm and comforting presence brought us ease during such a delicate time. I also have the same great things to say about Tara who was the second midwife to be present at the birth and meet with us for the postpartum appointments. Tara also has such a warm, beautiful, and comforting spirit and has been such a pleasure to meet with. When expressing the troubles I have with breast feeding, she has been so sweet and reassuring and I really appreciate the level of care she not only provides for our baby, but to me. I feel so fortunate and blessed to have had a successful and empowering homebirth with the utmost care and support from Shannon and Tara and I highly recommend them. From the very first phone call I felt so comfortable and genuinely heard. She took the time to answer every question and listen to my previous birth story and never made me feel rushed. She listened with understanding and compassion and for the first time I truly felt like a care provider was really listening to me. For my first birth, I had a typical hospital birth with a typical OB. Although I did not have a traumatic experience, I wanted something different for my second time around. I found Shannon and it truly was a blessing. The level of care and attention to detail was above and beyond anything I had experienced before. When the day came to give birth, having her there made me feel so safe supported and empowered. If I was ever to do this again, I would not hesitate to use Shannon and her team and have another home birth. It truly was a defining experience and something that I believe that all women should be able to experience. If you're looking for a quality Midwife service that treats you like family and truly listens to you look no further. I cannot recommend Shannon enough!

I would 1000% recommend doing one-on-one training sessions--it's the best money I've ever spent on myself. Thanks to our workouts, I had an incredibly easy delivery and post-partum recovery. Tal radiates positive energy! She kept me smiling, fit, motivated, and--most importantly--SAFE throughout my pregnancy. Her workouts were not only fun but also incorporate many moves that can actually be used during labor. She was always in-tune to my needs and would adapt her routines--even mid-workout--to make sure I was safe and pain-free. I also loved that she emphasized important foundations (e.g. proper breathing technique, connecting breath to core and pelvic floor, safe ways to get in/out of bed, ways to avoid diastasis recti, etc). I continue to use those skills daily. Not only is Tal a mama herself, she has years of experience as a specialized prenatal/post-partum personal trainer. She even stays up-to-date with ACOG recommendations and takes refresher maternal health courses. As a physician, I was impressed with the depth of her knowledge. If you train with her, you get access to her Strong Mama Fitness online for free--another incredible resource. Although she is no longer local in the Bay Area, she is available for 1-on-1 virtual training via Zoom. Our virtual sessions were super convenient, all without sacrificing quality.
