It is now March, and I've not heard one word from her. So much for help and mental health awareness. It's a joke. Heal yourself people and save your money

To whom it may concern,…read more My last living grandparent says that he always prays for me to find good people on my career journey in Texas. Now I think that something was heard somewhere, let me tell you in all fairness why: It is my pleasure to provide this Google Review for Dr. Grove's certification class for LCSW-S candidates. I was searching for course options in November 2023 when I came across the Mind Your Self Counseling website. I emailed her asking if I can do the course before completing the required time of clinical experience in the U.S. She was very informative and answered in less than 24 hours. I literally ignored the other vendor's responses after this happened. It caught my entire attention. She knows what she has to offer with the course when she was not pushing or spamming, like prior CEU experiences have been. The course registration was quick and convenient. I attended the 3-day LCSW-S certification online class in December 2023. The printed course materials were at my porch earlier than I would expect. I received the Zoom invite, agenda and other handouts by email the days before. The didactic material provided was useful (and STILL!), professionally edited and organized, and well summarized... which is generously inclusive for people with English as a second language. The class dynamic was positive, interactive, challenging and very engaging. I didn't find how to leave, I stayed even for the after-class discussions ... until my professional commitments dragged me away, lol! I had the opportunity to share experiences and professional contact information with other colleagues during the group exercises. I spotted Dr. Groves (she doesn't get mad when attendees call her "Carla") as a mentor of excellence when she didn't leave any question without an answer, and encouraged others to contribute. It was not only about what she knew. We had guests repeating the course because of how good it is. The material presentation made it easy to recall. Dr. Groves is well versed on best practices and field-aware (down to earth!) when giving advice on how to handle dilemmas and situations within our professional practice contexts. I appreciate her advice and reference documents on how to handle the initial process and potential professional relationship with the supervision candidates. She also shared resources that we can offer to our future supervisees, and a test prep recommendation. The TAC questions were the most time consuming for the written part, but is not Dr. Grove's fault how the TAC is written and formatted on the State website. Most of the answers were discussed in class later, because ethics and rules were a core component. She also highlighted over and over the importance of documentation and self-care practices. Dr. Groves was also very explanatory during the class and in written about how to navigate the application process with BHEC, and provided helpful contacts in case of any inconvenience. When I turned in the written part, Dr. Groves sent me from her own email the CEUs certificate in less than 24 hours. She sent me the addendum quicker than that. It convinced me that details matter to her and that she cares no matter how busy things can be on her side... "teach by the example". At the end of the certification class, I felt more confident about being prepared, having the tools and what it takes for the "gatekeeping" challenge ahead as a future LCSW-S. I would probably open a hospice for the underserved in the future, NOT my own private practice, but she answered questions to those interested. As a young professional, that class left me thinking ... and more committed to "raise the bar for myself". I already requested -when available- the new curriculum that Dr. Groves is developing for supervision. I will never forget that Dr. Groves read and really heard what I had to say, took her time to think about it, and she is still there. Thank you doc! With all of this said...I would not recommend any other course for LCSW-S candidates. I will send my own social work pals here! I'm now like ..."grandpa, whatever it is, keep those prayers coming!". :)
