The…read morefinancial plan was necessary because she had just retired and needed to shift her finances in ways that would keep her prosperous after grandfather died. He was very understanding and nurturing of her. She talked about him for days. His work really is incredible when confusion and chaos sets in after the death of a spouse. She is doing much better financially now, thanks to Brian. I just wanted to say, THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE GOOD YOU DO!!!! I am relieved because I was not qualified to assist her with the money troubles as they came up. My entire family is grateful for the good work, too! As we sort out inheritance matters grandmother needed great support and Brian gave it. . . ! Good fellow.

I decided to hit this Scotiabank before heading over to the carnival. This Scotiabank is in a plaza. It has a drive-thru. It's across from Tim Hortons that also has a drive-thru. It's like night and day comparing the craziness at Timmy's versus the calm at this branch. I entered this plaza from Saginaw Parkway. The drive-thru's exit sign was facing me. I needed to make a tight u-turn to get to the ABM. It works if you drive a small car. If you drive a huge limo, forget it! Before I reached the ABM, there was a sign with details on how to switch your mortgage to Scotiabank. It was all in capital letters, so this branch is obviously excited to get your business. It was also the most reading that I have ever done at any bank drive-thru in my life. I got to the ABM. I bank with Tangerine, so my card works at any Scotiabank ABM. I love that you can select your cash denominations and elect to not get a receipt if you want to save a tree. I got my cash quickly. I then saw another sign for more leisurely reading. You must be somewhat literate here, which was the vibe that I was getting. I decided to circle around the branch. It was open on an early Saturday afternoon with lots of parking around it. I also found the official drive-thru entrance. The better option is to enter from Franklin Boulevard. The lane is wide and it was nice getting the full, correct drive-thru experience. I had a great experience using the drive-thru ABM. Maybe I'll check out the branch next time when I'm in the area. (181)

This is a TD facility yes but it does not have any tellers there. If you're looking for US dollars…read moreyou can't get it from the employees here since the employees are only advisors. These advisors speak up to 10 different languages and specialize in personal lending (including mortgages), investments, financial planning, and various new accounts. In this branch it may seem like a lounge at an airport rather than a bank because it doesn't feel like a bank. There are even coin machines that will accept loads of coins and deposit directly into your TD account as well as an ATM that is interactive and will give you denominations of your choice down to 5 dollar bills. The hours are also later like some TD branches, up to 8pm on weekdays.

(I should note though that their phone customer service deserves 4 stars because both times that I'd called, they were amazing). When I went in on Thursday afternoon, the card hadn't arrived. The next day being Remembrance Day, I figured I'd give them till Monday. So, off I went to pick it up. A banking officer who had come out of his office to help the receptionist, was perfectly nice when he first asked if he could help me. I mentioned by reason, and his response was, "well did we call you?" No you didn't call me, but check anyway - sir. Sure enough, when he checks, my card is there . So then he needs to verify the information and my identity . Not sure what was the issue - because all I heard was him telling the receptionist who was looking the info up online "how the hell did we give her a card without..." and when I asked if everything was ok, he's like, "someone wasn't doing their job right" . Fair enough - but does that mean you have to be snarky to me? And about me, in front of me? As though I shouldn't have gotten the card? I got this card more than years ago, back in college. His running commentary didn't end there : for every question I had to answer, he had a mean spirited comment or smirk. I don't mind answering the questions you have to verify my identity - that's expected and in fact, welcome because I'd rather you be diligent about such things but seriously? You cannot be professional, and pleasant? Is it that hard to have display some decent manners? If you read my other reviews, you'll notice that I'm not easily dissatisfied with customer service. Having worked in retail growing up, I'm always mindful of the fact that it's not easy to be nice all day long. Plus, I don't like confrontations, so I just said - any other questions you need to ask? I tried to keep a pleasant smile on my face, and I have to say, I had a very hard time. Anyway, all in all - this one person's attitude made it a rather unpleasant experience for me. I'll definitely be staying away from this branch if I can possibly help it.

Located in this ratty looking industrial plaza, this place buys insurance write offs and sells them for discounted prices. The stock they have varies daily, as they pull out new items from their warehouse. So one month they might have rows of women's shoes the next they'll have a stockpile of electronics. I've scored everything from high end men's wear to sporting goods to a Roomba here. Their prices are generally marked a % off MSRP which means some of the items may not actually be the best deal out there. But on items such as clothing (which generally starts out at 50% off) the savings are substantial. The longer the items sit there the deeper the discount, reaching 70-80% if they exceed the month mark. They have a separate store a few units over that houses furniture as well. Their hours are fairly limited, closing before 5 on weekdays and Saturday. So it's tricky to come during the week for me. Saturday morning tends to be very busy, depending on what they're stocking that week. There's extra parking around the back of the building which is not clearly marked. They also only accept cash and debit.
