I've only gone to this location a few times. I never had any issued with this branch at all. The credit union itself is pretty good. I have my mortgage and auto loan through Consumers. They have a very good interest rate for your checking account, but it can be a little difficult to reach the numbers you need to get the highest percentage. The only issue I have is my auto loan is suppose to be on auto pay, but I have to manually pay it from time to time, not sure what the bug is. All in all, it's a good credit union, and blows the water out of any bank around. read more

1.) you can never reach anyone at the branch where you do business unless you have a specific person's 'personal' number. Well these folks continue to replace competent employees as often as most reasonable people change underwear. I have FOUR business cards in my file for CCU for people with whom we've been very pleased at the GRAND AVEGurnee location...and NONE of them are still there! Have to talk with some know-nothing at their main number who can't seem to use all kinds of personal info provided for BOTH my husband and I to move forward with the RENEWAL:...on our JOINT CD's.... that's BULLSH*T. 2.) We're experiencing some serious injury/illness extenuating circumstances and I requested to RENEW TWO CD's over the phone. She wanted a 'password' to identify me. WE don't have ANY **** passwords!!! Was REFUSED because the less than 'stellar' person on the phone couldn't 'find' and/or use any of the SS#'s, THREE phone numbers, address we've had for 35 years, and birthdates of both of us associated with those CD accounts INCLUDING the ACCOUNT numbers I gave her to verify the CD's I wanted to RENEW. I was RENEWING not withdrawing $$$.... this BS made NO SENSE!!! 3) Have been a member for well over 30 YEARS !!!! and was told I'd just have to 'come in' to renew... WELL I CAN'T right now!!! and needed to get these renewed before they rolled over at some piddly A$$ rate. 4.) I've grown to hate this place..... I would not recommend Consumers Credit Union to anyone who would like to interact with people who value customer service. Their customer service is appalling. They escalated the call to a manager, who managed to disconnect us when doing a transfer, after being on the call for over 45 minutes. She did not even have the decency to call us back after disconnecting us. I then had to go back through the Phone system loop to be told someone would call us back. We still have an unresolved issue and cannot contact the person who caused it directly. I have never visited this location in person. However, when I was searching for a competitive auto loan rate, I came across this bank as offering one of the lowest rates in the country so I reached out. They were a little hard to deal with in the beginning over the phone as our representative was not always available to answer question, but the rest of the team stepped up to answer our questions. We had many since we had never heard of this bank and we were trying to be extra cautious in case it was a scam. After I had signed the papers for the loan, they mailed the loan check to the dealership which took about a week to get there (Is this normal???), so the dealership was not going to give me the car until they received the check in the mail. Luckily, our sales rep at the dealership convinced them to let me take the car home and just wait for the check. During the week of biting my nails hoping to check will make it to the dealership, I looked up reviews to this bank (a little late...I know). I saw many reviews saying that they were being charged late payment fees on their loans even though they had paid the loan on time so this got me nervous. Using this information, I decided to have my bank pay this bill a week in advance to make sure the loan payment made it on time. I have kept this on auto payment since the beginning of my loan and have not had any issues with late payments. In summary, I feel like the loan payment to the dealership with a check is crazy when there are so many time efficient options available. I do not think I will get another loan from this bank unless they have an amazing rate. read more

DO NOT FINANCE YOUR CAR THROUGH CONSUMERS. We bought a new car in January and quickly refinanced with consumers because of lower rates. The previous lender mailed the title to my home which I immediately mailed to Consumers. About a month later I got a letter stating that they hadn't received the title. After three days of calling, being told they couldn't reach the title department and never being called back, they finally told me they had the title and it hadn't yet been processed. In July I received another letter saying they don't have the title and they are going to increase the rate if they don't get it soon. Again I call and am told they can't reach the title department and they never call back. With a previous vehicle I refinanced, the payoff check consumers sent to the previous lender was $10 short which I found out about when the previous lender reported me to the credit bureaus for under payment. This took months to resolve and have removed from my credit report. My fault for financing another car through them after this. They also send a letter every six months when insurance renews saying that they don't have a record of my insurance and they are going to buy insurance for me if I don't provide proof. Don't have the same experience as me. Finance your cars through the dealer or through national lenders who know what they are doing. read more

The only employees that have some sense of direction is loan sales team. The rest is blind leading the blind. Paid off the loan. Nobody knows how to process and send the title. Closing account. There is zero customer service. My debit card was hacked, they were quick to cancel my card, but will not do anything about the fraudulent charge for 60 dsys. When I asked why 60 days I was told because that is how long they takes. This is the third time either I or my husband has had a questionable charge. The only thing they do is cancel your card. Changing banks is a hassle, but I just cannot continue with this no customer service hateful institution. It's a shame they are so disinterested in success. read more

What would be nice is effective customer service and being able to do a wire transfer without having to wait forever on hold to finally be able to talk with a rep to only end up being added to a queue and get called back after 4:30 and they can no longer do the wire transfer for you and ask you to call back again the next day. Why would i do that only for it to happen again. I am just going to close all my accounts a refinance my loans with someone else the better rates on checking and slightly lower rates on loans is not worth the hassle. Absolutely horrible. I called customer service (placed on hold for what seemed like forever) to make a payment on my auto loan, on time. The lady I spoke to was clueless. I payed with a check and never received confirmation. I looked into it, come to find out it was never processed, nor did they have any history of me calling in to pay. I was then charged a late fee. Applied for an auto-loan as a Google search showed lowest rate. I was declined the loan and never got a notification whatsoever. I called to ask why given that I have ridiculously good credit (the only reason I take auto loans is because I get low rates and invest the money at a higher rate!). I was told it's because we have 3 auto-loans already. I'm OK with them not giving me a loan if that's what their criteria is, but at least notify me. I'm also amazed that they'd decide to NOT give me a loan (rather than giving me a higher rate loan given that they think I'm a more risky customer). Anyway... Beware! I typically try to support credit unions, having been a credit union member with Great Lakes credit union before. However I do not find this credit union to be very consumer friendly. I've never seen a bank or credit union charge so many fees for doing nothing. I have several accounts with Bank of America and had accounts with Chase as well. If you are a dollar or two short on a debit to your account. They typically will Pay it and usually will not charge you. Not with consumers! If you are a dollar off, not only will they charge you $30. But they will also not cover the payment. So if you have a check that coming through for $1500 and you miscalculated your account by a single dollar they will bounce the check and then charge you $30. Additionally, they recently upgraded their ATMs from the 1970 envelope variety to the standard of excepting cash & checks without an envelope. However if you make a cash deposit with their ATM it takes another day to update your account!!! This makes no sense at all! I don't know any other bank that does this. read more

In researching car loan rates back in May of 2019, I received a notice that Consumer Credit Union out of Gurnee pulled my Credit File, never dealt with this company, no idea who they were and at no point did I ever authorize someone to do a hard pull of my credit file? Called them immediately and was told Rosa Martinez was the one who pulled my file, left numerous messages for Rosa Martinez all of which went unanswered. Finally I was directed to Kyle Brown and was initially told he would have the 'hard pull' removed from my credit file. Never happened, instead he decided to push the blame on me and others? Before you decide to do anything with this company, do your homework and look at their reviews and complaints on line with the BBB, Google and Yelp. Not a good picture. And if you do end up in a similar situation, be sure to file complaints with the state, National Credit Union Administration, BBB, etc. and let others know how this company operates. read more

Consumer Credit Union just acquired what was previously Andigo/ Motorola Employees CU. This has been a nightmare that isn't over yet. They tried to do a hard cutover where all the andigo stuff (credit cards, debit cards, accounts, onLine systems) ceased to work at midnight and the next day everything had changed over. That meant you lost access to everything at midnight. All new numbers which could not be used prior to the midnight cutover. Auto pays ceased to work and were rejected. If you placed an online order before the changeover, it blew up when the company tried to ship using that card. You could not activate new cards until after the cutover so essentially your credit cards could not be used for some period of time before and after the transition. 2 weeks in and we cannot get my husbands debit card to work at all. I have done 3 days of waiting on hold for 6 hours each to try to get help with some of the issues. I have twice left my number for a call back. I have yet to speak to a person. We gifted a down payment for a house to our kids by wire transfer 2 weeks before the change over. Their mortgage company needs a copy of our bank statement to prove where the money came from. They cannot produce that statement nor do they have a timeline for when they can. Our kids cannot close on their house till these folks get their stuff straightened out. I gave them one star because that's the lowest allowed. We are a 20+ year member of the Motorola credit union but we will be moving our money elsewhere as quickly as we can. Stay away. Really liked Premier Credit Union until they merged with Consumers Credit Union, now I am no longer able to talk to a real person onsite instead I wasted my time with a call center who cannot assist the customer. I had to wait for another call center member to call me back at some unknown time. The "Contact Center Online Representative" informed me the contract signed with Premier Credit Union for a Home Equity Line of Credit has a "rolling due date", which is not true. He is telling me "the facts" but he cannot view nor verify any part of my account prior to the merger and therefore cannot see payments made early. I have paid a Home Equity line of credit 1 month ahead of time and confirmed Consumers credit recorded the payments as "early". Yet, received a notice today: "YOU ARE DELINQUENT... Your Credit Rating can be negatively affected if you loan is not paid up to date." What happens when I pay early? Apparently, I am still "late" according to David; the Contact Center Online Representative at Consumers Credit Union IF the payment does not advance your due date. January's payment was cashed on December 30, 2015; February payment was cashed on January 15, 2015; March payment was cashed on January 29, 2016; April payment was cashed on February 29, 2016 and May payment was cashed on April 7, 2016. Exactly how would a consumer be delinquent on a payment when it is paid 23 days before it is due? My advice- avoid Consumer Credit Union they do not value a good customer and "the fact is" they negatively affect your credit rating and waste my time! read more

You are causing us to possibly lose a mortgage and a house because of this one small issue. I have dealt with this with clients and now I am about to lose a mortgage and house due to your inability to do one simple task: print a statement for an account my husband and mother in law are on because her and her ex husband are on a mailing label of it despite him not being on this specific account. You have caused us stress and I have seen clients deal with this. How dare you say you care about your 30 year members. Your tag line is "Your Life, Our Commitment". Our life is clearly NOT your commitment. We are stressed, lacking sleep...all because of one statement issue. You state you will call back and don't. I have to say I was very disappointed with this "credit union." My car was totaled out 3 months after I bought it and my insurance paid it off. I had someone come to my work, my home, family members houses looking to repo the car. This place is unorganized and very unprofessional. This credit union promises rewards checking but they make it difficult to earn them. In addition, the account is supposedly an online (electronic) service, but in reality, many issues require visiting a physical location during their (limited) business hours. If debit cards are denied or a pin number is locked, you have to wait until a physical branch is open before you can resolve it and have access to your account. I have made 2 payments so far and have yet to be sent a monthly statement to pay the car loan back. I have called them 3 times requesting a monthly bill. I got an auto loan through this company a year back. When I moved, I had to switch banks because there is no Chase banks where I live now. That being said, my direct deposit had to be switched with this company so they could take the funds out of my new account. That sounds pretty easy, right? Wrong. Still, to this day, I have been promised a "sheet in the mail" that I can set up my direct deposit, since they won't do it over the phone. I have requested this "sheet" about 5 times now and every month I get a "courtesy call" that I didn't pay my last month and I'm a month behind on my payments. After this, they guide me to their website to pay the past due balance. I pay it online, then I ask them if I can set up my direct deposit online and they say no I have to do it on the sheet they send me in the mail. This place is garbage. I'm part of the Premier Credit union transfer. I followed there directions to login to my new account. Made three attempts with the information I was told to use and my account was locked out. Had to call customer service. Got transferred three times. Finally got the account to open after they set a new password then I reset my password to what I wanted and logged in three different time. No problem. I tried to get my Paypal account updated and they asked for my login information to verify the account. I tried three time to got it to verify and it failed all three times. I tried to login to my account after words and was locked out AGAIN. I called customer AGAIN and got transferred three different times then suddenly while on hold a recording came on stating that the costumer service department was closed. I'm still locked out and I can't do anything until they unlock my account. Very unorganized and not ready for the change over, serious lack of education. I'm considering moving my account to a real bank. I'm still really upset but I know no one there cares at all. read more
